BuzzFeed noted that viewers found Anderson's behavior uncomfortable and hard to watch. From the moment Lohan walked on stage, things felt off. Anderson greeted her with a kiss on the cheek but immediately joked, 'You are sick and you just kissed me on the lips with tongue?' Lohan shot back, 'I didn't kiss you on the lips!' The tension was obvious.

‘Fantastic Four: First Steps' scores Marvel's first $100 million box office opening of 2025
With final domestic figures being released Monday, this list factors in the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore read more LOS ANGELES (AP) — Marvel's first family has finally found box office gold. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' the first film about the superheroes made under the guidance of Kevin Feige and the Walt Disney Co., earned $118 million in its first weekend in 4,125 North American theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. That makes it the fourth biggest opening of the year, behind 'A Minecraft Movie,' 'Lilo & Stitch' and 'Superman,' and the biggest Marvel opening since 'Deadpool & Wolverine' grossed $211 million out of the gate last summer. Internationally, 'Fantastic Four' made $100 million from 52 territories, adding up to a $218 million worldwide debut. The numbers were within the range the studio was expecting. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The film arrived in the wake of another big superhero reboot, James Gunn's 'Superman,' which opened three weekends ago and has already crossed $500 million globally. That film, from the other main player in comic book films, DC Studios, took second place with $24.9 million domestically. The box office success of 'First Steps' and 'Superman' means 'the whole notion of superhero fatigue, which has been talked about a lot, can I think be put to rest. I always say it's bad movie fatigue, not superhero fatigue,' said Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst for data firm Comscore. 'First Steps' is the latest attempt at bringing the superhuman family to the big screen, following lackluster performances for other versions. The film, based on the original Marvel comics, is set during the 1960s in a retro-futuristic world led by the Fantastic Four, a family of astronauts-turned-superhuman from exposure to cosmic rays during a space mission. The family is made up of Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), who can stretch his body to incredible lengths; Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), who can render herself invisible; Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn), who transforms into a fiery human torch; and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), who possesses tremendous superhuman strength with his stone-like flesh. The movie takes place four years after the family gained powers, during which Reed's inventions have transformed technology, and Sue's diplomacy has led to global peace. Both audiences and critics responded positively to the film, which currently has an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and promising exit poll responses from opening weekend ticket buyers. An estimated 46% of audiences chose to see it on premium screens, including IMAX and other large formats. (Marvel-Disney via AP) This image released by Dosney shows promotional art for the film 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps.' (Marvel-Disney via AP) STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The once towering Marvel is working to rebuild audience enthusiasm for its films and characters. Its two previous offerings this year did not reach the cosmic box office heights of 'Deadpool & Wolverine,' which made over $1.3 billion, or those of the 'Avengers'-era. But critically, the films have been on an upswing since the poorly reviewed 'Captain America: Brave New World,' which ultimately grossed $415 million worldwide. 'Thunderbolts,' which jumpstarted the summer movie season, was better received critically but financially is capping out at just over $382 million globally. Like Deadpool and Wolverine, the Fantastic Four characters had been under the banner of 20th Century Fox for years. The studio produced two critically loathed, but decently profitable attempts in the mid-2000s with future Captain America Chris Evans as the Human Torch. In 2015, it tried again (unsuccessfully) with Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller. They got another chance after Disney's $71 billion acquisition of Fox's entertainment assets in 2019. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The 'Fantastic Four's' opening weekend results were a little less than some rival studio projections, Dergarabedian said. Nonetheless, the film is expected to carry movie theater earnings well into August. Holdovers dominated the top 10, but one other newcomer managed to make the chart. The dark romantic comedy 'Oh, Hi!' earned $1.1 million from 866 screens. 'Jurassic World Rebirth' landed in third place in its fourth weekend with $13 million, followed by 'F1' with $6.2 million. The Brad Pitt racing movie also passed $500 million globally. 'Smurfs' rounded out the top five with $5.4 million in its second weekend. The box office is currently up over 12% from last year. With final domestic figures being released Monday, this list factors in the estimated ticket sales for Friday through Sunday at U.S. and Canadian theaters, according to Comscore: 1. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps,' $118 million. 2. 'Superman,' $24.9 million. 3. 'Jurassic World Rebirth,' $13 million. 4. 'F1: The Movie,' $6.2 million. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 5. 'Smurfs,' $5.4 million. 6. 'I Know What You Did Last Summer,' $5.1 million. 7. 'How to Train Your Dragon,' $2.8 million. 8. 'Eddington,' $1.7 million. 9. 'Saiyaara,' $1.3 million. 10. 'Oh, Hi!,' $1.1 million.

Tom Lehrer, Celebrated Musical Satirist And Math Whiz, Dies At 97
Renowned musical satirist and mathematician Tom Lehrer has died at 97. Lehrer passed away at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Renowned musical satirist and mathematician Tom Lehrer has died at the age of 97. News of his passing was confirmed by his friend David Herder, who told the New York Times that Lehrer passed away at his home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Saturday. The cause of death has not been disclosed. Lehrer, whose sharp wit and musical talent gained him a cult following in the 1950s and 1960s, became a cultural icon almost by accident. A math prodigy, he started writing songs to entertain classmates at Harvard University, where he enrolled at the age of 15. Although his career in performance was brief, Lehrer left a lasting mark with just 37 songs composed over about seven years. 'There's never been anyone like him," Broadway producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh told BuzzFeed in 2014. 'Of all famous songwriters, he's probably the only one that … is an amateur in that he never wanted to be professional. And yet the work he did is of the highest quality of any great songwriter." Lehrer was born Thomas Andrew Lehrer on April 9, 1928, in New York City. Immersed in the world of musical theatre from a young age, he soon merged his passion for math and music in unconventional ways. His early work included 'The Elements," a cleverly composed recitation of the periodic table set to the tune of Gilbert and Sullivan's 'Major-General's Song." His debut album, 'Songs by Tom Lehrer," recorded while still a graduate student, became an underground hit. Distributed initially among Harvard peers, the record gained popularity across the country through word-of-mouth. After a stint in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957, Lehrer returned to recording, releasing a series of albums that cemented his reputation as a fearless satirist. His work took on topics that were often considered taboo at the time—racism, venereal disease, nuclear war, and hypocrisy. Songs like 'I Wanna Go Back to Dixie," 'National Brotherhood Week," 'Be Prepared," and 'We Will All Go Together When We Go" skewered the social norms of the era. In a 1982 interview with People magazine, Lehrer explained his gradual retreat from the music scene. 'I often feel like a resident of Pompeii who has been asked for some humorous comments on lava," he said, adding that issues such as abortion and feminism had become too complex to lampoon. 'Political satire became obsolete when Henry Kissinger was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize," he famously quipped in response to the 1973 decision. Lehrer's influence extended far beyond his performing years. His songs were staples on the Dr. Demento radio show, and his material was rediscovered by new generations. In 2010, Daniel Radcliffe performed 'The Elements" on television, while rapper 2 Chainz sampled 'The Old Dope Peddler" in 2012. Despite his growing popularity, Lehrer remained a private and reluctant performer. He eventually chose academia over the stage, teaching mathematics at Harvard, MIT, and musical theatre at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He noted that both disciplines, math and songwriting, involved structuring pieces to form a cohesive and logical whole. Some of Lehrer's songs even delved into his mathematical passions, such as 'New Math," a humorous critique of contemporary teaching methods, and 'Lobachevsky," an ode to a 19th-century Russian mathematician. In 1959, Time magazine grouped him with countercultural figures like Lenny Bruce and Mort Sahl, calling them 'sicknicks" with 'a personal and highly disturbing hostility toward all the world." Lehrer leaned into this label, once writing in liner notes: 'If, after hearing my songs, just one human being is inspired to say something nasty to a friend, or perhaps to strike a loved one, it will all have been worth the while." Though he never married, Lehrer's songs and wry perspective on life remain enduring. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
