Security forces launch intelligence-based ops, recover arms, ammunition
The operations resulted in apprehension of 23 cadres from the hill and valley-based groups and recovery of 40 weapons, nine Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), grenades, ammunition and war-like stores.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs of movement of cadres and presence of IEDs in the general area of Chadong, Imphal East district, the Indian Army, using specialised resources like Explosive Detection Dog, launched an operation on 27 May and recovered 05 IEDs connected in tandem, with a total of 35 kg of explosives.
Meanwhile, in another operation, a team of the Indian Army discovered a concealed hideout nearby, from where two 12-bore rifles, explosives, ammunition and war-like stores were recovered.
Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of arms and warlike stores in the general area Khuangmun in Churachandpur District, a search operation was launched by the Indian Army and Manipur Police on June 1 and recovered two IEDs, seven weapons comprising leading to the recovery of a .303 rifle, four single-barrel rifles, three improvised mortars (Pompi), two IEDs, amunotion and other warlike stores.
In Kakching district, a joint operation launched by the Indian Army and Manipur Police on specific inputs in the general area Wangoo in Kakching District on June 2 led to the recovery of two IEDs (approx. 8 kg), five weapons comprising an INSAS rifle, three single-barrel rifles, a double-barrel rifle, ammunition and war-like stores.
In Jiribam district, an intelligence-based operation launched by Assam Rifles in coordination with Manipur Police carried out a joint operation in the general area of Rashidpur Forest, Jiribam District, on June 2 and recovered five weapons: two single-barrel rifles, one double-barrel rifle, one improvised mortar (Pompi), grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores.
On June 5, the Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a joint search operation after corroboration and specific inputs regarding the presence of arms and ammunition in the general area of Thamnapokpi near Loktak Lake in Bishnupur District. The operation recovered four weapons: a Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) rifle, a Sten machine gun, two 12-bore pistols, grenades, ammunition, and warlike stores.
Similarly, in the general area of Kotzim in Kangpokpi district, an intelligence-based operation by Assam Rifles on June 6 resulted in the recovery of eight weapons, comprising one M16, one bolt-action Rifle, three Improvised Mortars, three Pull-Mechanism Rifles, ammunition, and war-like stores.
On June 7, based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint team of the Indian Army and Majipur Police launched a search operation in the general area Itham Uyok in the fringe areas of Imphal East District, Manipur, and recovered nine weapons, comprising three Rifles, three Mortars, two Heavy-Calibre Launchers, one improvised mortar (Pompi), Grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores.
Intelligence-based operations in hill and valley regions also resulted in the apprehension of 23 cadres. The apprehended cadres and the recovered items have been handed over to the Manipur Police.
These coordinated efforts by security forces highlight their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in Manipur.

FIR against army officer who said forged papers were for gathering intel
1 2 Shimla: An FIR has been registered at Dharampur police station in Solan district against a lieutenant colonel in the Indian Army, previously posted at Dagshai Cantonment, for allegedly possessing forged documents and a 12-bore gun without a valid licence. The FIR, lodged on July 6, is based on a complaint submitted by a junior commissioned officer posted at Dagshai Cantonment. Charges include cheating, forgery, and illegal possession of the gun under Section 25 of the Arms Act. According to the complaint, on Aug 23, 2023, army authorities at Dagshai Cantonment recovered a 12-bore gun and several documents from the possession of the lieutenant colonel. The documents included a driving licence, Aadhar card, and PAN card bearing the officer's photograph. A court of inquiry initiated by the army revealed that the officer possessed duplicate identity cards, Aadhar cards, and PAN cards. It emerged that the officer prepared a set of these illegal documents in the name of one Mustafa, but they featured his own photograph. It has been alleged that when he was questioned, the lieutenant colonel told inquiry officers that when he was posted in Jammu and Kashmir earlier, he got these documents made for intelligence-gathering purposes. However, he could not provide evidence of permission from a senior officer for such actions, it has been alleged. Additionally, the officer failed to present a licence for the gun found in his possession. Following the initiation of the court of inquiry at Dagshai Cantonment, the officer was attached to an army unit in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. After the FIR was registered, Dharampur police have begun the process to associate the accused army officer with the investigation, police said.

A'bad airport gets another bomb threat email, declared hoax
Ahmedabad: A bomb threat email received late on Monday by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) triggered a security protocol at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad. The threat was declared a hoax after a thorough search by security agencies. According to the FIR filed at the SVPI Airport police station, the complaint was lodged by the Landside Security Manager employed by the Adani Group at the airport. The complaint stated that around 2.43 am on July 7, an email was received from an unknown address, claiming that IED explosives were hidden in a bathroom pipeline at the airport. Immediately after the email was discovered, all emergency standard operating procedures (SOPs) were activated. The airport's Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), along with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and local police, conducted a detailed inspection of the premises. Retired Army officer loses ₹1.2 lakh in 10 minutes after downloading APK file to pay traffic challan
A 49-year-old retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Indian Army lost over ₹1.2 lakh after unknowingly installing a malicious mobile application disguised as an official traffic fine notification. On July 6, 2025, the retired officer in Hyderabad received a message via WhatsApp containing an APK file ' The message claimed to be from an official traffic enforcement agency and alleged that his vehicle had violated traffic rules, requiring an immediate payment of ₹1,000. Believing the message to be legitimate and assuming he may have unknowingly committed a violation, the victim downloaded and installed the file on his phone. Within minutes of installing it, between 7.15 p.m. and 7.25 p.m., the victim noticed two unauthorised transactions on his SBI credit card - ₹60,104 through Amazon Pay India Pvt Ltd and ₹60,305 via resulting in a total loss of ₹1,20,409. The fraudulent purchases were made without his knowledge or consent, by stealing sensitive bank information through the APK file. A case was booked by the cybercrime wing of the Hyderabad police and an investigation initiated. Following the incident, the police issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain cautious about suspicious messages demanding payment of traffic fines via external apps or links. Authorities do not circulate APK files Authorities clarified that government agencies, including the Transport Department, do not circulate APK files for enforcement or to collect fines. Citizens were advised to refrain from downloading such files from unverified sources and instead check the official Transport Department or traffic police websites to verify any such claims.
