Egypt, Oman FMs call for diplomacy over Iran-Israel tensions - Foreign Affairs
During talks in Cairo on Tuesday, both sides emphasised the necessity to maintain the ceasefire between Iran and Israel to reduce regional tensions.
They also addressed the developments in the Gaza Strip, where Abdelatty underscored the need to resume the ceasefire in Gaza, secure the release of captives and detainees, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid into the strip.
He also highlighted Egypt's ongoing preparations to host the International Conference for Early Recovery and Reconstruction in Gaza once a ceasefire agreement is reached, according to a foreign ministry statement.
Additionally, both sides reaffirmed their full rejection of the displacement of Palestinians from their land, urging more efforts to mobilise international support for the Arab plan for Gaza reconstruction and the two-state solution.
Furthermore, the Egyptian and Omani ministers also addressed the latest developments in Yemen, Syria, Sudan, and the Horn of Africa, where Abdelatty commended Oman's foreign policy for its consistent approach of wisdom.
Abdelatty also valued the support provided by Oman for Egypt's nominations in regional and international forums and organisations, including the nomination of Khaled El-Enany for the position of Director-General of UNESCO.
For his part, the Omani FM praised the depth of Egypt-Oman bilateral ties and partnership in trade, culture, education, youth, and sports sectors, affirming Oman's support for preserving Egypt's water security.
Meanwhile, Abdelatty and Al Busaidi held the 16th session of the Egyptian-Omani Joint Committee, during which seven memoranda of understanding and executive programmes were signed between the two sides in various areas.

H-Tayea Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received a telephone call today from Dubravka Šuica, European Commissioner for the Mediterranean, focusing on deepening Egypt–EU cooperation across multiple strategic fronts. Abdelatty welcomed EU efforts and Commissioner Šuica's support in securing the approval of the €4 billion second tranche of macro-financial assistance to Egypt. Abdelatty stressed the importance of addressing irregular migration by linking it with sustainable development, and highlighted the need to scale up cooperation in regulated migration and European investment to generate employment opportunities inside Egypt. Regarding Gaza, Abdelatty urged for an immediate resumption of the ceasefire and unhindered access for humanitarian, relief, and medical aid. He briefed Commissioner Šuica on Egypt's active coordination with Qatar and the United States, and announced Egypt's commitment to hosting an international conference on emergency recovery and reconstruction in Gaza—pending a durable ceasefire—in partnership with the Palestinian Authority and the UN. Canada condemns Israel's operation in Gaza, joins Egypt in ceasefire call: Ambassador - Foreign Affairs
Canadian Ambassador to Cairo Ulric Shannon affirmed his country's condemnation of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip and joined Egypt in calling for a ceasefire. He made his remarks during a celebration of Canada's National Day at his residence, held in a festive red-and-white atmosphere. The Ambassador praised Cairo's efforts to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza and described relations between Canada and Egypt as "advanced." Ambassador Shannon also expressed his happiness to celebrate National Day in Egypt this year, noting his previous tenure at the Canadian Embassy in Cairo as a third secretary in 2005. "Since I drank from the Nile, I have returned to it again,' he said. He lauded the strong cultural ties uniting the two countries, largely thanks to the large and successful Egyptian community in Canada, which numbers in the hundreds of thousands. The Ambassador highlighted that just two months after he assumed his duties in Cairo, visas were reinstated for Canadians upon entry to Egypt. This move has contributed to an increase in Canadian businesspeople and tourists, as well as an uptick in investment, he noted. Shannon added that Canada hosted the largest economic delegation from Egypt last April. He said that Canada, as the current chair of the G7 for 2025, cooperates closely with Egypt regarding the situation in the Middle East, referring to yesterday's phone call between President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. EU says ready to facilitate return to Iran nuclear talks - Region
The EU's top diplomat told Iran's foreign minister Tuesday that Brussels is willing to facilitate a return to negotiations on Iran's nuclear programme after US and Israeli strikes. The 27-nation bloc was a signatory -- and facilitator -- of a 2015 deal between Iran and international powers over Tehran's nuclear programme. US President Donald Trump abandoned that deal in 2018.
