ITC will ban iPhones with BOE displays from being sold in the US

GSM Arena16-07-2025
Apple likely won't be able to sell iPhones with BOE displays in the US due to a preliminary ruling by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) that the Chinese display maker infringed on Samsung Display's trade secrets on OLED panels.
The ITC ruling includes two orders – a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order. The first prevents Apple from importing infringing iPhones into the US. The latter prohibits Apple from using existing inventory and further production or sales activities.
This hasn't come into effect yet – the import ban is expected to kick in with the final ruling in November. ETNews, which has been following the suit, reports that preliminary rulings are rarely overturned. After November, there is a two-month period during which President Trump will be able to veto the final ruling.
Apple sources components from multiple manufacturers, e.g. iPhone displays are made by Samsung, LG and BOE. BOE typically makes the non-ProMotion displays on vanilla phones – in fact, it supplied the majority of iPhone 16e displays.
However, @Jukanlosreve recently reported that Apple has approved BOE display panels for iPhone 17 Pro phones that will be exclusively sold in China. Of course, ITC's ban has no influence on sales in China, but it may have affected how Apple distributes production quotas between its display suppliers. Also, the future iPhone Fold is safe, since it will use Samsung Display panels.
Besides the ITC suit, Samsung Display filed a suit with the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas seeking compensation for lost operating profit plus punitive damages over BOE's infringement.

More details about Huawei's next tri-fold smartphone leak, and it won't be called Mate XT 2

Huawei launched the Mate XT, the first tri-fold smartphone in the world, last September, and we're now only a few weeks away from its one-year anniversary. To mark that occasion, Huawei is rumored to launch a new and improved tri-fold smartphone, that we initially assumed would be called Mate XT 2. Today a new rumor from China claims it will be Mate XTs instead, and that is perhaps more fitting considering that it won't be an entirely reworked device. It's said to come with improved performance from a new chipset, improved cameras, and new colorways. And that's it, everything else will stay identical to the original. Speaking of which, Huawei has allegedly sold more than 500,000 units of the Mate XT since its launch in China, despite its very prohibitive price. The Mate XTs will be offered in white, black, red, and purple, twice as many options as its predecessor had. It is now alleged to arrive in September. Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Source (in Chinese)

Samsung Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic review

Every other year, Samsung is introducing its new top-of-the-line Classic series smartwatches, alongside a modestly upgraded standard Galaxy Watch. But this year, the smartwatch portfolio has been reshuffled in the context of the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Now, the Classic appears to be a complement to the Ultra, serving as a stepping stone between the vanilla and the Ultra, if you wish. Still, Samsung is promising significant improvements over the Galaxy Watch6 Classic. The Classic now adopts the cushion design that the company introduced last year, along with the Dynamic Lug locking system for the straps. It's marketed as both a design and a functional upgrade, since it helps improve the accuracy of the BioActive sensor. To be fair, with the addition of the Quick Button to the rotating bezel, the Classic feels like it's closer to the Ultra. It's still a premium smartwatch. Samsung Galaxy Watch8 Classic specs at a glance: Body: 46.4x46.0x10.6mm, 64g; Glass front (Sapphire crystal), stainless steel frame; Rotating bezel, MIL-STD-810H compliant*, IP68 dust tight and water resistant (immersible up to 50m/5ATM), ECG certified, Blood pressure monitor, *does not guarantee ruggedness or use in extreme conditions. 46.4x46.0x10.6mm, 64g; Glass front (Sapphire crystal), stainless steel frame; Rotating bezel, MIL-STD-810H compliant*, IP68 dust tight and water resistant (immersible up to 50m/5ATM), ECG certified, Blood pressure monitor, *does not guarantee ruggedness or use in extreme conditions. Misc: Accelerometer, gyro, heart rate, barometer, altimeter, compass, SpO2, temperature (skin), BioActive, antioxidant index. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic also employs a brighter screen, reaching 3,000 nits, and a more modern, energy-efficient chipset - the Exynos W1000 based on 3nm node. Moreover, the chip can handle some AI tasks, albeit simple, making the Watch8 Classic the first Android smartwatch to offer native support for Gemini AI. Memory gets a huge upgrade, which is a nice bonus since AI requires more storage too, so this year's Classic is fitted with 64GB internal storage. Sports and health aren't neglected in this year's iteration of the Galaxy Watch8 series. Samsung has developed a new personalized running coach, and the BioActive sensor can now measure an antioxidant index and vascular load. Some of the hardware upgrades that we mentioned, however, aren't exactly new to the vanilla Galaxy Watch8. Still, the newer Galaxy Watch offers a brighter display, adopts the new cushion design, it's a lot thinner now and also gets the new health and sports features. With the smartwatch market continuing to expand, Samsung is now facing tougher competition, so let's take a deeper dive and see what's with the new Galaxy Watch8 series. Xiaomi Redmi 15 official-looking renders surface, colors revealed

With the Redmi Note 15 series out and about, it's time for Xiaomi to release its ultra-budget models, the Redmi 15, 15C and possibly the 15R, if we go by last year's Redmi 14 lineup. However, by the looks of it, the standard Redmi 15 won't miss the party this time around (there was no vanilla Redmi 14) as we already have a good idea of what the phone might bring to the table. Shortly after this rather revealing leak, a tipster on X shared some images of what appear to be official renders of the Redmi 15. We've got a frontal image showing maybe thinner bezels than before, compared to the Redmi 13, although it's a bit hard to tell from renders alone. Alleged Redmi 15 colors We also have three images depicting the Redmi 15 in three colors - Black, Purple and some sort of Silver-ish, Gold-ish paint job. The back design seems to align with the current Redmi Note 15 lineup, but more importantly, the pictures show three camera sensors on the back. If we have to guess, the two auxiliary shooters will likely be ultrawide and macro. The Redmi 13 from last year only had one main 108MP camera and a 2MP macro shooter. Going by the previous leak, the Redmi 15 will offer a substantial upgrade over its predecessor with upgrades in the display, battery, chipset and camera departments. Source
