Mary Fowler shortlisted for PFA Player of the Year gong
Voted for by fellow professional players, Fowler was included, along with teammate Yui Hasegawa, following her most productive Women's Super League season to date for Manchester City.
They are joined by Alessia Russo and Mariona Caldentey from European champions Arsenal, Erin Cuthbert from WSL champions Chelsea, and Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.

Also in the running for the PFA Young Player of the Year gong, 22-year-old Fowler picked up six goals and seven assists in the campaign, and her two goal involvements in four successive WSL matches set a competition record in February.
Despite having her season cut short by injury in April, the Matildas star was the only City player to reach double figures in goals and assists in all competitions.
Japan international midfielder Hasegawa - who won City's Player of the Season award - completed the most dribbles in the WSL across the campaign and was involved in more shot-ending sequences than any other player in her position.
She also won possession more times than any other player in the top flight across the season.
Russo scored eight times in Arsenal's European success and was joint top scorer in the WSL with 12 goals.
Her teammate Caldentey managed nine goals and five assists in the WSL and added eight more in the Champions League.
The winner will be announced at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on August 19.

Jason Ayto, Ross Wilson advance in Newcastle sporting director hiring process
Jason Ayto and Ross Wilson have both held follow-up interviews for the vacant sporting director position at Newcastle United. No final decision has been made, but Ayto, the former Arsenal interim sporting director, and Wilson, Nottingham Forest's chief football officer, have advanced through a process which has been expedited due to Paul Mitchell's exit. Advertisement Mitchell left the club on Monday after less than a year in the role, while Darren Eales, Newcastle's CEO, is serving his notice after being diagnosed with blood cancer. Newcastle are in the final stages of appointing a new chief executive, with former Real Madrid executive David Hopkinson among the leading contenders. Before Mitchell departed, interim responsibility for overseeing transfer deals transitioned to Andy Howe — the assistant head of recruitment and the nephew of Eddie Howe, the head coach — and Steve Nickson, the head of recruitment. The pair are working collaboratively to try and sign players from an Eddie Howe-led transfer list of targets, but Newcastle are yet to unveil a senior addition this summer, having missed out on Brighton & Hove Albion's Joao Pedro to Chelsea and with Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo specifying a preference to join Manchester United instead. With the sporting director having already left and Eales to follow, Newcastle lack a stable senior executive structure and are in a state of flux off the field for a second successive summer. Amanda Staveley departed as co-owner last July and the appointment of Mitchell followed, which initially unsettled Howe. Whereas Howe was not informed of Mitchell's arrival until 24 hours before, the head coach has been made aware of developments at certain stages of the process this time. Ideally, Newcastle would prefer to bring in a chief executive before a sporting director but, should they decide upon the right candidate for the latter, those appointments could be reversed. Ayto and Wilson are certainly prominent among the owners' thoughts, having reached the latter stages. A former scout, Ayto had been with Arsenal for a decade and rose through the ranks to become assistant sporting director under Edu, leading an overhaul and modernisation of the club's recruitment department. When the Brazilian left Arsenal in November 2024, Ayto stepped up to become interim sporting director until the appointment of Andrea Berta. He left the club voluntarily at the end of last season. Advertisement Wilson has worked in senior positions at Southampton, Huddersfield Town, Watford, Falkirk and Rangers, who won their first league title for a decade during his tenure, and reached the Europa League final, before joining Forest in April 2023. Last year, before Mitchell was appointed, then-Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman and current Southampton sporting director Johannes Spors reached the final two for the post at Newcastle. Freedman was subsequently offered the job, but turned Newcastle down, eventually leading to Mitchell's arrival. The curtain is about to be raised on the 2025 UEFA European Championships! Starting on Wednesday 2 July when Iceland play Finland, all roads lead to the final which is to be played on Sunday 27 July at St Jakob-Park, Basel. Advertisement A total of nine City stars have been selected across five national teams competing at the prestigious tournament and four of those players are set to taste a major competition for the first time. The other five, however, will be drawing on the precious experience they've gained on the elite international stage to help their countries to potential glory this summer. ALEX GREENWOOD At 23-years-old Greenwood was selected in England's squad for the 2017 Euros in the Netherlands before making her only appearance at the tournament in a 2-1 group-stage win over Portugal. Our captain played the full 90 minutes of the success before the Lionesses reached the semi-finals. Advertisement Fast forward five years to the 2022 competition and the centre-back had established herself as one of the finest operators in world football having signed for City in 2020. In what turned out to be a glorious summer for England, Greenwood became a trusted lieutenant for Sarina Wiegman with the Blues' defender appearing in five of the Lionesses' six matches. During both the quarter-final and semi-final, she was brought onto the field in the closing stages as they beat Spain 2-1 after extra-time before advancing into the showpiece with a 4-0 win over Sweden. Then, in the euphoric final at Wembley, she was introduced on 88 minutes as the match headed to extra time before Chloe Kelly scored the epic winner to seal the trophy for England. VIVIANNE MIEDEMA Having been selected in Netherlands' squad for the 2025 tournament, Miedema is set to feature in her third European Championship. Advertisement Her first inclusion came in 2017 when her nation hosted the competition and our forward excellently came to the fore during the knockout stages, scoring four goals across the quarter-final, semi-final and final. After netting against Sweden in a 2-0 success and in a 3-0 semi-final win over England, Miedema's brace in the final helped the Netherlands to a 4-2 win over Sweden to claim the trophy. Entering 2022 as reigning champions, Miedema's tournament was a tale of frustration as she tested positive for COVID-19 after the first group game which kept her out of matches with Portugal and Switzerland. KERSTIN CASPARIJ Casparij enters Euro 2025 having featured three times in 2022 which also represented her first taste of the tournament. Following her outings in the first phase, she was afforded a starting place in the last-eight and performed well which was ultimately in vein as the Netherlands were edged our 1-0 by France after extra-time. LEILA OUAHABI Ouahabi arrives at this summer's competition with a wealth of experience at European Championships having played in both Euro 2017 and Euro 2022 for Spain. Advertisement In her first appearance eight years ago, she started each of her nation's group games starting with a 2-0 win over Portugal. Ouahabi then made the first XI in a 2-0 loss to England and a narrow 1-0 defeat to Scotland but Spain still qualified for the quarter-finals where they were defeated by Austria as our defender remained among the substitutes. Euro 2022 followed a similar pattern for Ouahabi as she started every group game again but missed out on a place in the team for the knockouts. She featured in wins over Finland and Denmark either side of a loss to Germany but didn't feature as Spain were eliminated by England in the last-eight. Kepa Arsenal transfer details: Fee, contract length, shirt number
Kepa Arrizabalaga signed for Arsenal this week, leaving Chelsea for £5m, and we now know more details about his deal with the Gunners. Multiple sources including The Athletic and the BBC have now confirmed that Arsenal agreed a three-year deal with Kepa, tying him down until 2028. Photo via As seen above, Arsenal themselves have confirmed Kepa's shirt number with his new club, taking 13. Raya holds the number 1 shirt after the club confirmed his change from 22 back in May. As for wages, there are no reliable reports on what Kepa will earn at Arsenal. Nizaar Kinsella reports for the BBC that the goalkeeper was initially earning £190,000 a week at Chelsea, but those wages were reduced when he signed a new contract with the club last year.
