Alt-pop queen Lorde has confirmed she's bringing her Ultrasound world tour to Australia with arena concerts in February,
Fans Down Under who sent her fourth record Virgin straight to No. 1 on debut last week were frustrated the 28-year-old pop innovator left Australia off the run when she announced international dates in May.
About 95 per cent of the shows in the US, UK and Europe have already sold out so there is going to be huge demand for tickets to her gigs at Brisbane Entertainment Centre on February 16, Qudos Bank Arena, Sydney on February 18, Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne on February 21 and RAC Arena, Perth on February 25. It looks like Adelaide has again missed out on a big international tour.
The Green Light superstar's promoter Frontier Touring teased the reveal of her Australian shows with posters in high-profile city locations this week.
Lorde, known as Ella Yelich-O'Connor on her passport, hinted in May as she began her album campaign she would be coming back to Australia and her native New Zealand with the tour in support of the Virgin album.
'Could you imagine if I didn't? That would be bad, that would be bad,' she said.
She shocked fans in May when she made an impromptu appearance at Sydney club Mary's Underground where fans were holding a Lorde-themed night, dancing with gobsmacked gig goers until the early hours.
'Lorde appearing at Mary's Underground in Sydney tonight was not on my 2025 bingo card but I fear I've won,' a fan posted on TikTok.
She then officially launched Virgin with a surprise set at the Glastonbury festival on the day of its release.
The What Was That? chart slayer has had a profound influence on the new wave of female pop artists including Billie Eilish and Gracie Abrams.
As she prepared to release Virgin, she revealed she had battled an eating disorder during the campaign for her 2021 record Solar Power.
She said the health challenge, which she began to address in 2023, stifled her ability to create music.
'This was a period where all I was thinking about was trying to weigh as little as possible, and going to sleep thinking about food, and waking up thinking about food and exercise,' she told the BBC.
'That was my creative pursuit; that's where it was all going. At the time I was like, 'I need to stop doing this, because it's blocking all of my artistry.' Once that went away, it all started coming back.'
Lorde was one of the front-row celebrities showing off their love of haute couture at Paris Fashion Week shows this week.
Tickets for the Australian shows open with an American Express presale on July 15 from 1pm local times.
The Frontier Member presale kicks off on July 17 from 2pm local time before general tickets go on sale on July 18 at 2pm.
