Jets' Running Back 'Plan' Not Ideal For Breece Hall
New York Jets running back Breece Hall is entering a career-defining 2025 season with Aaron Glenn and Tanner Engstrand.

Playing on the final year of his rookie deal, Hall's future in the Big Apple is murky at best, with his name being thrown up all offseason as a trade possibility, and Glenn already stating he wants to use three backs in Hall, Braelon Allen, and Isaiah Davis in the offense.
That's not ideal for a player looking to earn a new contract.
And this isn't ideal either.
Jets X-Factor's Michael Nania suggests that while Hall might be the bellcow back, splitting the carries with Allen and Davis might be how the offense operates.
'One potential plan for the Jets could work as follows: On every other drive, they give Hall a rest, rotating between Allen and Davis on the non-Hall drives,' Nania wrote.

'Their downhill running styles are ideal for keeping the Jets on schedule with positive gains while Hall sits, allowing him to keep his legs fresh and come back in with the energy to unleash home runs."

Having never surpassed the classic 1,000 yards in a single season, Hall, we suspect, will need to do that in 2025 to warrant Glenn and the coaching staff thinking about keeping him beyond this season.
That will be tough if snaps are divided up between three players.
But that feels like the way it will go under Engstrand, who wants to use a Detroit Lions-like style that has multiple backs being used.

Hall wants a new contract and to show the NFL world he can be the dominant force he knows he can be, but this latest "plan" is going to make achieving that awfully tough.

Clarke has an adductor strain and is likely to miss a couple of weeks, manager Mark Kotsay said Monday. Muncy was hit on the right hand by a pitch in Monday night's series opener at Texas and was replaced at third base by Gio Urshela. Although the A's said X-rays were negative, the injury will still force the rookie to miss some time. Advertisement Lawrence Butler made his second straight start in center Tuesday night. A day earlier against the Rangers, Butler made a leaping catch in front of the A's bullpen in left-center field to take a home run away from Kyle Higashioka. Clarke has made several spectacular catches this season. The A's recalled outfielders Colby Thomas and Carlos Cortes from Triple-A Las Vegas. Cortes is batting .322 with 17 homers and 77 RBIs in 71 games with Las Vegas. The 28-year-old would be making his major league debut. ___ AP MLB:

Utah Jazz rookie Ace Bailey caught a lot of flack for his draft strategy leading up to the June 25 night. He canceled a workout with the Philadelphia 76ers--who held the No. 3 pick--as well as workouts with every other team who had an interest in the Rutgers star. Bailey fell to the Jazz with the No. 5 overall pick and will look to make an impact in Utah. He averaged 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds in two summer league games--both in Salt Lake City--for the Jazz.
