A day earlier, Islamabad Police organised a rally to commemorate the armed forces' historic victory in repelling Indian aggression
Islamabad Police Inspector General Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, addressing the participants, praised the armed forces for confronting the enemy 'like an iron wall.' He described the victory as not only Pakistan's success but a triumph for the entire Ummah.
Rawalpindi Commissioner Amir Khattak also spoke at the event, paying tribute to the armed forces, veterans, martyrs, and their families for their sacrifices in defence of the nation.
Counter-Terrorism Department SSP Hamza Humayon lauded the Pakistani people for their unwavering support for the military, saying the unity between the nation and its defenders had been clearly demonstrated.
The rally reflected widespread public sentiment following what officials have characterised as a decisive military response during Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.

Pakistan launched the military operation in response to Indian aggression on May 10, deploying its Al-Fatah missile system and targeting multiple Indian military installations. Key targets included BrahMos storage facilities at Beas and S-400 air defence systems at Adampur and Bhuj.
Moreover, the Pakistan Air Force shot down five Indian jets, including French Rafale, and carried out strikes on several Indian airbases.
Following these developments, India requested intervention from US President Donald Trump, which ultimately led to a ceasefire agreement between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Indian rupee dips but firmer yuan, exporter dollar sales cushion losses

MUMBAI: The Indian rupee ended marginally weaker on Wednesday with the strength in the Chinese yuan and exporter activity helping the currency hold above a psychologically important support level. The rupee closed at 86.4075 per U.S. dollar, down slightly from its close at 86.3675 in the previous session but managing to hold above the 86.50 support level. The offshore Chinese yuan rose to a near three-week high while the dollar index was a tad lower at 97.4. Dollar sales from a large private bank and exporter activity also helped the rupee contain its losses on the day, alongside positive regional cues, a trader at a state-run bank said. India's benchmark equity indexes, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 closed higher by about 0.6% each, tracking gains in global equities that were buoyed by hopes of easing trade tensions after a deal between the U.S. and Japan. 'Equity markets globally are rallying on the view that deals reduce uncertainty,' ING said in a note. Indian rupee weakens slightly, broad dollar softness cushions pressure U.S. President Donald Trump also announced a trade agreement with the Philippines, released terms of a previous deal with Indonesia on Tuesday and said that EU representatives were coming for trade negotiations on Wednesday. Officials from China and the U.S. are also expected to meet next week to discuss an extension to the deadline for negotiating a trade deal. For India, though, the prospects of a trade deal before the August 1 deadline have dimmed, with talks deadlocked over tariff cuts on key agricultural and dairy products. Foreign portfolio outflows and the lack of an outcome on trade negotiations have maintained pressure on the rupee, said Dilip Parmar, a foreign exchange research analyst at HDFC Securities.

India investigates Walmart's Myntra for breaching foreign investment rules

Walmart's Indian fashion arm Myntra is being investigated for allegedly breaching rules that ban foreign-funded wholesale retailers from selling directly to consumers, India's federal crime fighting agency said on Wednesday. Myntra has raised nearly $192 million from foreign investors, the Enforcement Directorate said, without naming the investors. The company, registered as a wholesale retailer, sold the majority of its products to a retailer it owned, which then sold the products on Myntra's website, the agency said. Myntra and Walmart did not immediately respond to requests for comment. India's investment rules only allow foreign e-commerce companies to run a marketplace to connect buyers and sellers, and they cannot stock and sell goods to customers on their own. Some Walmart garment orders from Bangladesh on hold due to US tariff threat Other companies including Walmart's Flipkart and Amazon have often faced allegations of breaching such rules using certain sellers - allegations the companies have denied. Founded in 2007, Bengaluru-based Myntra operates an online marketplace that specializes in fashion and lifestyle products. The company last reported an annual revenue of nearly $599 million, according to Tofler data.

Indian benchmarks shares track global rally on US-Japan trade deal boost

India's equity benchmarks rose on Wednesday, tracking other Asian markets as the United States' surprise trade deal announcement with Japan boosted hopes of agreements with other trading partners. The Nifty 50 rose 0.63% to 25,219.9 points and the BSE Sensex added 0.66% to 82,726.64. MSCI's broadest index for Asia-Pacific stocks outside Japan advanced 1.4%, while Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 3.5%. Stocks in Europe too surged as traders kept an eye on the EU-U.S. trade talks scheduled for later in the day. On the other hand, the prospects of an interim trade deal between India and the U.S. before Washington's August 1 deadline have dimmed, with talks deadlocked over tariff cuts on key agricultural and dairy products, Reuters reported, citing two Indian government sources. 'The gains in Indian market today have come on the back of a global rally. While there was anticipation of an interim deal between U.S. and India, it does not look like it will materialize before the August 1 deadline,' said VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist at Geojit Investments. Fifteen of the 16 major sectoral indexes logged gains. Heavyweights financials and information technology stocks rose 0.8% and 0.3%, respectively. India's stock benchmarks end flat as Reliance, trade jitters offset Eternal gains HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank rose 0.9% and 1%, respectively, marking their third day of gains after reporting upbeat earnings on Saturday. The broader small-caps ended flat, while mid-caps rose 0.3%. Real estate index fell 2.6%, with Lodha Developers and Oberoi Realty sliding 7.5% and 3.1%, respectively, following large block deals. Among other stocks, PNB Gilts surged 8.2% as its quarterly profit tripled on the back of gains made from securities. Tata Consumer Products slipped 2.1%, and Dr Reddy's Laboratories gained 0.6% ahead of their earnings.
