Arab National to Face Criminal Trial Over Mistreatment of Children with Disabilities
The prosecution received a complaint from the Ministry of Social Development, which, during its routine inspection of rehabilitation centers for persons with disabilities, observed—through its judicial officers—that the suspect, an employee at one of these centers, physically and psychologically abused the children under his care.
The Public Prosecution immediately launched an investigation upon receiving the complaint. It heard testimonies from the judicial officer of the Ministry of Social Development and the general manager of the rehabilitation center where the suspect worked. The prosecution also reviewed security camera footage that documented the abuse, interrogated the suspect, and subsequently ordered his referral to criminal court.

Three Arrested For Stealing AC Units From Women's Sports Hall In Oman
The Royal Oman Police announced that three men have been taken into custody in connection with the theft of air-conditioning units from a women's sports hall in Sohar, in Oman's North Al Batinah Governorate. In a statement issued on Sunday, the police said that two of the suspects are Omani citizens and the third is an Arab expatriate. The investigation revealed that the stolen units had been sold to a local shop that deals in the trade and collection of scrap materials. Authorities did not specify how many units were stolen or the value of the goods but noted that legal procedures are under way and that the case will be referred to prosecutors once the initial inquiries are complete. The theft has drawn attention in the local community of Sohar Wilayat, a city known for its growing sports and recreational facilities, where such incidents are rare.

Rehabilitation centre worker cleared of abuse charges
TDT | Manama A man accused of mistreating children with disabilities at a rehabilitation centre has been acquitted by the Minor Criminal Court. The case was filed by the Ministry of Social Development, whose inspectors accused the worker of physically and mentally harming more than five children. The allegations were partly supported by security camera footage and witness testimonies. Prosecutors reviewed the footage, questioned the head of the centre and the judicial officer who filed the complaint, and eventually referred the case to trial. The defendant denied all charges during questioning. In court, defence lawyer Abeer Abdulrahman argued that the claims failed to meet the legal definition of abuse under Article 40 of Bahrain's 2021 Law on Restorative Justice for Children. She maintained that the actions seen in the video clips did not amount to mistreatment. She also challenged the legitimacy of the report, stating it was filed by an unauthorised person and that no professional assessment of the children had been conducted. A defence witness who worked alongside the accused testified that he only assisted the children physically and showed no signs of wrongdoing. The lawyer further pointed out that the surveillance clips, which ranged from five to twenty seconds in length, were too short to prove misconduct. Abdulrahman noted that the defendant had no prior complaints from parents or centre management and was generally well regarded. She concluded that the case lacked solid evidence and relied on speculation. The court ultimately agreed and dismissed the charges.

Bahrain: Woman Jailed And Deported For ‘Indecent' Social Media Posts
A woman has been jailed for a year and fined BD200 after broadcasting indecent videos to the public on social media, according to a statement from the Public Prosecution. The court also ordered her mobile phones to be confiscated and ruled that she be deported permanently once she serves her sentence. The Minor Criminal Court delivered its ruling in person after examining footage in which the defendant appeared in suggestive poses that prosecutors said went against public morals and the country's customs. Report The matter came to light following a report filed by the Cybercrime Directorate at the Ministry of Interior. Investigators had come across a publicly viewable account showing the woman in compromising positions and uploading material deemed inappropriate for general audiences. Prosecutors issued a warrant for her arrest. She was questioned shortly after being taken into custody and shown the footage. She admitted it was hers. The prosecution ordered her detention during the inquiry and seized the phone she used. She was then sent to court in custody, where the verdict was handed down.
