Terrifying trailer drops for sequel to ‘the scariest franchise to ever exist'

Metroa day ago
The 'absolutely terrifying' first trailer for latest Conjuring movie has finally dropped, marking the end of an era for the legendary horror franchise.
The Conjuring: Last Rites will be released in cinemas on September 5, with Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson reprising their roles as paranormal investigators Lorraine and Ed Warren respectively – alongside Mia Tomlinson, Ben Hardy, Steve Coulter, Rebecca Calder and Elliot Cowan.
The upcoming flick serves as a sequel to 2023's The Devil Made Me Do It, and will transport viewers back to 1986, where a news report announces that the 'devil has come to Pennsylvania'
In the teaser, Ed and Lorraine Warren arrive to help another family who have been plagued by a terrifying spirit in their home.
However, there's a twist in store for the couple as they learn that they have gone up against this particular demon once before.
'Ed, there's an evil here. Something I've felt before,' Lorraine warns.
'This thing in your house is a demon. It's the first one that we've ever encountered.'
'We were young, we were scared. We ran away,' she adds to her husband. 'And after all these years, it wasn't done with our family.'
It isn't looking good for the couple as, in the final moments of the trailer, Ed declares: 'I don't know how to protect you this time.'
Last Rites will mark the ninth and final instalment of the Conjuring franchise, which first hit the big screen in 2013.
Little else is known about the plot, to encourage maximum scares, with a synopsis simply reading: 'The Conjuring: Last Rites delivers another thrilling chapter of the iconic Conjuring cinematic universe, based on real events.'
Fans were left stunned by the creepy clip and flocked to share their thoughts on social media.
Posting below the official YouTube post, Nocultz commented: 'The scariest movie franchise to ever exist—I will miss it forever!'
AnchorAnkitkhandelwal agreed: 'Just when we thought it couldn't get scarier… The Conjuring: Last Rites looks absolutely terrifying! More Trending
'Ready for one last haunting ride with the Warrens!'
'An iconic era of horror is ending and I'm not ready,' EderQuiñonesFlores complained.
As Rasim9898 added: 'If you get goosebumps just from the trailer, imagine what you'll feel when you watch the movie. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this amazing franchise.'
The Conjuring: Last Rites is released in cinemas on September 5.

Hulk Hogan was 'devastated' by boos during final WWE appearance before death

Wrestling star Hulk Hogan, who died aged 71 this month, was 'devastated' by the negative reaction from the crowd during his final WWE appearance Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was 'devastated' by the boos he heard from the audience during his final WWE appearance before his death aged 71. The star was found "experiencing a serious medical-related issue" in a house on Eldorado Avenue in Florida and was taken to Morton Plant Hospital in the morning of July 24. ‌ He died at 11.17am in the hospital, and there were "no signs of foul play or suspicious activity", Major Nate Burnside said in a statement. It was recently reported that the wrestler died from acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack, per the Pinellas County Forensic Science Centre. ‌ The star, real name Terry Bollea, was said to be poorly in the weeks leading up to his death, but his reps were forced to deny speculations about his health. It comes after Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears at Ozzy's funeral in heartbreaking scenes. ‌ Meanwhile, six months before he died, Hogan took to the stage at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, for a guest appearance in Netflix's WWE series Raw. His longtime pal and manager, Jimmy Hart, recently said Hogan was shocked by the negative reaction he received from the audience and claimed it "bothered him". ‌ Speaking on the Stories With Brisco and Bradshaw podcast, Jimmy explained: "We go out and we had a mixed reaction. You can have 500 people cheering you and one person booing you, but I'll be darned if that one person doesn't outshine [the people cheering]. "It's a mixed reaction, but it's a little bit more boos than anything. That devastated him." The manager suggested the boos were due to the wrestler's support for controversial US President Donald Trump. Hogan previously appeared at the Republican National Convention to back the convicted felon's return to the White House. Jimmy added: "We got in the back and he said: 'What do you think happened?' I said: 'Hulk, it's simple, blue state, red state. Boom'. ‌ "But that bothered him because of that ... Then the next week we're in Texas, and it's all cheers, you know, but that always bothered him. It sure did." During the appearance, he was heard telling the unimpressed crowd: "In the past, I've had a whole bunch of partners down the line. I had incredible partners, like the Macho Man Randy Savage. I've had giant-sized partners like Andre the Giant. ‌ "But the greatest partner the WWE has ever had is the fact that tonight, we're making history, and the WWE has tag teamed up with Netflix, the greatest tag team partner of all time." Hogan's death last week was confirmed by the WWE, who posted a statement on X saying: 'WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans." Hogan headlined the first Wrestlemania in 1985 and faced The Rock, aka Dwayne Johnson, during the event in 2002. His last WWE match was against Randy Orton at SummerSlam in 2006.

I'm rewatching Girls — is Lena Dunham still the voice of her generation?

I'm beginning to suspect that Lena Dunham and I are connected by some mysterious, cosmic thread. She spent her twenties among the indolent millennials of Brooklyn, then ditched them for a leisurely life in London. Last year, meanwhile, I swapped pigeons for rats, and a cobwebby Peckham house share for a little apartment east of the East River. Dunham turned her New York life into the droll, disaster-prone dramedy Girls, which ran for five seasons from 2012 to 2017 and is set (I say this on the authority of Google Maps) an 11-minute cycle from where I live. I survived my first New York winter eating chocolate almond butter cups and watching Girls. You see, we're very similar. You can imagine my sentiments, then — flattered, touched, not especially surprised — to discover that just as I landed back in the UK for the summer, so did Dunham's latest TV show on Netflix, this one set not among the iced matcha lattes of Manhattan but the peanutty pubs of south and east London. I put off watching it for a while — for how could it possibly beat Girls, a brilliantly, brutally self-skewering show that kicks off with Hannah (Dunham's fictionalised doppelgänger) getting high on opium tea and telling her parents: 'I don't want to freak you out, but I think that I may be the voice of my generation'? But this week — having at last given up on the stodgy gloom of season four of The Bear and untempted by newer offerings — I caught up on Too Much.
