Hannover 96 appoint new manager in Christian Titz
Titz has managed Magdeburg for 4,5 years and 165 games while averaging a points-per-game ratio of 1.59. Magdeburg finished the 2024/25 season in 5th place, only missing out on the relegation rank by five points.

Hannover on the other hand finished in 9th - too little for the 96ers who are dreaming of finally returning to the Bundesliga. Hannover's CEO Marcus Mann commented on the Titz transfer:
'Christian Titz has a very clear philosophy and stands for the kind of football we want to see at Hannover 96: courageous, intense and forward-looking. He will also continue our chosen path of integrating and developing young players into the licensed team and fill it with life. Now it's the team's job to work hard from day one together with the coaching team to absorb and internalize the playing idea and bring it onto the pitch.'
The 54-year-old Titz, who requested to leave Magdeburg at the end of the 2024/25 season, also talked about his transfer to Hannover:
'I am grateful that I have been given the trust and responsibility to take over as coach at Hannover 96. Now I'm very excited to get to know the team and the people around it, and I'm looking forward to the city and the people around the club, who we want to involve and take with us on our journey together right from the start.'
Some Championship clubs and Schalke 04 were also interested in Titz's signature, but he decided in favour of Hannover in the end. Titz's contract with Hannover runs until the end of the 2026/27 season.

Bayern aims for Jamal Musiala's return by the end of 2025 after breaking leg at Club World Cup
MUNICH (AP) — Jamal Musiala is still using crutches after breaking his leg at the Club World Cup but Bayern Munich hopes he'll be back by the end of the year. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder was stretchered off in pain after colliding with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as his team lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals this month. 'Jamal still has crutches but the process is very, very positive,' Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl said Thursday at an event to present new signing Luis Díaz. Eberl added that the club expects Musiala could return around the same time as wing back Alphonso Davies. The Canadian player has been out since sustaining a severe knee ligament injury with his national team in March, but Eberl said he had his 'first exercises on the field' Thursday. 'So far there have been no complications with both of them. We need to knock on wood that it stays that way and then we obviously hope that they will be available at the end of the year,' Eberl said. ___ AP soccer:

Lyon plot swoop for Union Berlin's Danilho Doekhi
According to a report from Foot Mercato, Olympique Lyonnais are plotting a swoop for Union Berlin defender Danilho Doekhi (27). The centre-back only has a year left on his contract with the Bundesliga side, with the French outlet explaining that he could be plucked from Germany for €7m. The defender was a target for OGC Nice last summer when the club were looking at a possible replacement for Jean-Clair Todibo (25), who eventually left to join West Ham United. However, despite interest being high in the Dutchman with Premier League sides also linked, no move ever materialised. Lyon envision Doekhi bolstering their defensive line alongside new recruit and fellow countryman Ruben Kluivert (24). The club are hoping to plot a return to the UEFA Champions League this season and will look to progress into the latter stages of the UEFA Europa League having reached the quarter-finals last season. West Ham's Paqueta cleared of betting charges
West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta has been cleared of spot-fixing charges by an independent regulatory commission, the club announced on Thursday. The Brazilian international was charged with four alleged breaches of FA rules in relation to matches involving the Premier League side. It was alleged that the 27-year-old directly sought to influence matches by intentionally seeking to receive a card from the referee for the "improper purpose of affecting the betting market". He denied the charges and the independent regulatory commission found the charges not proven following a hearing. The Football Association said two charges against Paqueta related to a failure to cooperate with its investigation had been found proven. It said a commission would decide on an appropriate sanction for those proven breaches "at the earliest opportunity". The Brazilian said in a statement issued by West Ham that he had always maintained his "innocence against these extremely serious accusations". West Ham United vice-chair Karren Brady said: "We are pleased Lucas has been cleared. He has maintained his innocence from the outset, and as a club we have resolutely stood by him and supported him throughout the process." jw/nf
