Bohm, Schwarber each hit 2-run homers to power Phillies past Reds, 5-1
Phillies starter Ranger Suárez was pulled by manager Rob Thomson after throwing just 80 pitches in five innings. He struck out six and lowered his ERA to 1.99, putting the left-hander in prime position to make his second straight All-Star team.
Suárez allowed seven earned runs in his first start of the season, and has now allowed only 11 over his last 11 starts. The circumstances of his early exit were not immediately known, Suárez had pitched at least seven innings in each of his last five starts and thrown at least six innings in all but his first start of the year.
Bohm hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning off Reds starter Nick Lodolo (5-6) for a 3-1 lead and Schwarber connected on his 27th homer of the year in the eighth to make it 5-1.
Will Benson hit a solo homer off Suárez for the Reds in the fifth, and Sosa followed with a solo shot in the bottom of half of the inning off Lodolo to make it 1-1.
Lodolo struck out eight and allowed three runs over six innings.
Jordan Romano (1-3) earned the win and was the first of four Phillies relievers to each toss a scoreless inning.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — San Diego Padres right-hander Yu Darvish will be activated from the injured list and make his season debut Monday night at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Japanese star has been sidelined since spring training by right elbow inflammation. 'It really just comes down from a physical standpoint,' manager Mike Shildt said before the Padres finished a series against Texas on Sunday night. Short-handed Dodgers may be forced to make roster moves after Astros sweep
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts could do little to counteract Houston Astros left-handers Bennett Sousa and Bryan King in the seventh and eighth innings of Sunday's 5-1 loss. Three of Roberts' four right-handed hitting reserves — Teoscar Hernández, Kiké Hernández and switch-hitter Tommy Edman — were unavailable because of minor injuries, which could force the Dodgers to make a roster move to bolster their bench depth before Monday night's series opener at Milwaukee. That forced left fielder Michael Conforto, second baseman Hyeseong Kim and catcher Dalton Rushing, all lefties, to bat against Sousa and King, who threw scoreless innings to help the Astros sweep a three-game series in Dodger Stadium for the first time since 2008. 'Today, we had one player available, and that was the catcher,' Roberts said, referring to All-Star starter Will Smith, who is healthy but was given the day off. 'That's not a good feeling.' Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei driven off field by ambulance with apparent head injury
SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei was driven off the field by ambulance with an apparent head injury at the end of a Major League Soccer match against the Columbus Crew on Sunday. Frei jumped forward to make a play on a free kick, and as he came down, his head collided with the knee of a Crew player. Frei dropped to the turf at Lumen Field and teammates immediately signalled to the sideline for help. With the match tied at 1-1 deep in stoppage time, Crew coach Wilfried Nancy and Sounders coach Brian Schmetzer appealed to the referee to end it. As Frei was carried on a stretcher to the waiting ambulance, Seattle fans chanted his first name. Frei, 39, has played for the Sounders since 2014. He helped Seattle win the MLS Cup in 2016 and 2019, and he was named MLS Cup MVP in 2016. He was an All-Star in 2017. Born in Switzerland, Frei's family moved to the United States when he was a teenager and he was a standout at the University of California.
