Royal Cavalry concludes participation in Royal Windsor Horse Show

LONDON: The Royal Cavalry of the Royal Court Affairs (RCA) concluded its participation in the Royal Windsor Horse Show, held at the grounds of the British Royal Windsor Castle, with the involvement of specialised equestrian teams from several countries worldwide.
The Royal Cavalry participated under the theme 'The Sultanate of Oman: Jewel of Arabia', during which its male and female riders presented diverse displays of traditional Omani equestrian arts, such as 'Ardha' galloping and horse hypnosis show, accompanied by Omani, Arabic and international musical pieces performed by the Royal Cavalry Band.
Eng Hilal Mohammed al Wa'eli, Head of the Royal Horses, Camels, Farms and Gardens Affairs at the Royal Court Affairs, stated that the Royal Cavalry's participation in the Royal Windsor Horse Show featured various traditional equestrian performances accompanied by diverse musical pieces played by the Royal Cavalry Band, which were highly praised by the audience.
He emphasised that the Royal Cavalry's participation in such global events underscores Oman's dedication to horses and equestrianism, highlighting the prestigious status it has achieved in this field.
On his turn, Dr Sarhan Salim al Zidi, Director-General of the Royal Cavalry, noted that the Royal Cavalry's participation in the Royal Windsor Horse Show reaffirms the advanced ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Kingdom. He added that it was an excellent opportunity for the Royal Cavalry's riders to exchange expertise with participants from various world countries.
Al Zidi stressed that such events serve as a platform to promote Oman's rich cultural and civilisational heritage, as well as its tourism. During the show, the Royal Cavalry presented a visual display showcasing Oman's most prominent heritage and natural tourist attractions.
The Royal Windsor Horse Show is one of the world's most prestigious equestrian events, first held in 1943. The 82nd edition featured numerous international competitions in show jumping, dressage, carriage driving, and endurance, alongside the main show in which specialised global equestrian teams performed at the grounds of Britain's Royal Windsor Castle. — ONA

'This is not just a market, but a cultural platform that showcases Dhofar's heritage,' he said. Products on display include handmade palm-frond items, incense burners, frankincense products and a variety of traditional Omani foods prepared by local families. Daily performances are staged from 4pm to midnight, featuring folk arts such as Al Habut, Al Bar'ah and Al Madima, as well as children's shows and musical sessions by Omani performers. The market will remain open till the end of the khareef season, reinforcing its role as a cultural and tourism destination while contributing to the local economy and supporting community-based enterprises.

The workshop formed part of the ministry's efforts to enhance the efficiency of the tourism sector and empower it to keep pace with global technological developments. It was attended by marketing and sales staff from hotels, travel companies, as well as tour operators. The workshop was aimed to enable tourism sector partners to use AI technologies in improving promotional performance and promoting the competitiveness of tourist destinations in the Sultanate of Oman. The approach focused on introducing practical AI applications for the development of promotional content, the analysis of sentiments and predictive targeting. The workshop also included presentations about successful regional and international models on the use of AI in this field, with the aim of upgrading the efficiency of workers in the tourism sector and enabling them to adopt global practices in tourism promotion. The overall objective is to enhance the Sultanate of Oman's position as a prominent tourist destination. A training programme associated with the workshop focused on the ethical use of artificial intelligence tools and the analysis of tourism data to be used in conducting promotional and marketing campaigns that align with the objectives of Omani tourism brands. The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism will announce the launch of a sustainability training programme via the Partner Support Platform, which seeks to build the capacity of the tourism sector workers and provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to achieve a balance between tourism growth and the preservation of natural and cultural resources. The workshop was one of the initiatives undertaken by the Ministry to develop the tourism sector's potential and ensure its readiness to deal with future needs in a manner that serves the goals of Oman Vision 2040.

He reviewed the latest updates on one of the most prominent national projects, which has significant implications from the tourism, scientific, research, and heritage points of view. The garden features a wide range of attractions, showcasing Oman's diverse natural environments, native plants, and trees in one unified space. It is considered a strategic project that contributes to preserving Oman's unique plant biodiversity while raising public awareness of environmental conservation. The garden is also expected to play a key role in promoting eco-tourism and environmental education. He said that the visit reflects Muscat Municipality's commitment to ensuring the successful implementation of key projects to the highest standards. He noted that the Oman Botanic Garden has reached an advanced stage of completion and serves as a model of integration between environmental development and sustainable urban planning. Once completed, the garden is expected to become one of Oman's most significant natural and cultural landmarks. He also commended the efforts of the project's teams and acknowledged the institutional partnerships between Muscat Municipality and other stakeholders in strengthening infrastructure for sustainability and environmental awareness initiatives. The Oman Botanic Garden also holds scientific and research significance. It serves as a valuable repository of data and a living archive of numerous Omani plant species. Survey efforts at the site have led to the documentation and collection of hundreds of native plants, including the discovery of 20 species that are endemic to the Sultanate and found nowhere else in the world. Muscat Municipality recently opened the 1.4 km dual road on Al Khoud Village Road, with two lanes in each direction and side pedestrian sidewalks, to ensure smooth traffic flow to the Oman Botanic Garden (OBG). The project will cover a distance of 1.5km, linking the Special Tasks Force Roundabout to the Oman Botanic Garden roundabout. The network of secondary roads includes smooth access to the garden, in addition to barrier railings, surface water drainage systems, and other facilities. The Oman Botanic Garden (OBG), located just around 35 km from Muscat International Airport, has been designed to represent the native flora in naturalistic habitats that reflect the rich botanical heritage of the region. Additionally, it serves as a one-stop destination for various avenues such as research, fun, learning, expert interactions, and an extraordinary visitor experience. OBG will offer a cable car experience to visitors for the first time in the country. Other amenities will include open playgrounds, event spaces, and interactive areas. The garden demonstrates a sustainable approach in its design, construction, and operation. The nursery in Oman Botanic Garden serves as the basis for work in the garden, supplying all required plants spread over an area of 20,000 sqm. It includes three covered glasshouses, four greenhouses, shade areas, and open areas.
