According to the source, allegedly filming the duo the morning after a night of fighting was difficult because they 'wouldn't speak to each other off camera' despite appearing supportive on TV, reports Page Six.
The insider claimed Richards, 54, once messed up a scene and Phypers allegedly said, 'Menopause.'
The businessman's alleged comments toward the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum made the crew uncomfortable, the source claimed.
Per the source, Phypers, 52, appeared 'very threatened' by his estranged wife's success and was allegedly 'trying to prove that he was superior.'
'Aaron walked around as if he was the biggest star on the planet when we were filming,' another source told the outlet.
Reps for Richards and Phypers did not immediately respond to Page Six 's request for comment.
While Richards and Phypers put on a united front for their audience, their tense relationship was previously shown on a season ten episode of RHOBH.
A resurfaced clip showed the TV personality and Phypers holding hands, as she warned him not to 'say a f**king word.'
'Don't tell me what to say. I'm going to crush your f**king hand. Stop it,' he aggressively responded.
News broke earlier this month that Phypers filed for divorce from Richards after six years of marriage.
At the time, an insider told the outlet that the duo 'have been having trouble for some time' and those close to them saw it coming.
Richards has since accused Phypers of abuse and was granted a temporary restraining order against him after alleging he threatened to kill her and himself if she reported him to police, per court documents obtained by Page Six.
The Bravo alum also alleged that her ex gave her a black eye in 2022.
Phypers, however, denied the allegations, telling People that the allegations were 'completely false and deeply hurtful.'
He also accused Richards of infidelity.

In her court filing, the 27-year-old's argued, 'During this [six-month period] alone in 2018, Executors request that the Court approve $625,000 ($A957,000) in payments to three law firms for what they say is uncaptured time, without explanation as to why counsel was incapable of recording unbilled time, or why such a failure should not preclude payment.' Her lawyer added, 'Even worse, these payments appear, at least in part, to consist of lavish gratuities bestowed upon already well-compensated counsel.' Jackson's legal team argued the payouts reflect poorly on the executers of the estate, writing: 'These irregular payments raise serious and substantial questions about Executors' ability to effectively supervise counsel … and refraining from wasteful, six-figure gift-giving to themselves and their colleagues.' Salvador Plasencia pleads guilty to supplying ketamine to Matthew Perry
A California doctor has pleaded guilty to supplying Matthew Perry with the prescription anaesthetic ketamine in the weeks leading up to the Friends star's overdose death. Salvador Plasencia is one of five people charged in relation to Perry's death in October 2023. He was charged with four counts of illegally distributing ketamine, and faces up to 40 years in prison when sentenced, according to prosecutors. In a plea agreement with prosecutors, Plasencia admitted injecting Perry with ketamine at the actor's home and in a Santa Monica parking lot in the weeks before his death, and that doing so was not for legitimate medical purposes. Ketamine is a short-acting anaesthetic with hallucinogenic properties, sometimes prescribed to treat depression and anxiety but also abused by recreational users. Plasencia, who operated an urgent care clinic, obtained the ketamine from another doctor, Mark Chavez of San Diego. According to court filings, Plasencia texted Chavez about Perry, writing: "I wonder how much this moron will pay." Chavez and two other co-defendants have already pleaded guilty in the case, but all are yet to be sentenced. A fifth defendant, Jasveen Sangha, whom authorities said was a drug dealer known to customers as the "ketamine queen", was charged with supplying the dose that killed Perry. She has pleaded not guilty and is scheduled to go on trial in August.
