Top 10 NFL QBs - Where Is Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes?
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was close to claiming the three-peat last season, but failed at the final hurdle against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Not putting up the big numbers we were acustomed to earlier in his career, some think Mahomes has regressed slightly from his ridiculous standards set, and with Kansas City now playing to Steve Spagnuolo's defense, instead of the other way around, some are cooling on the idea of Mahomes still being "the" quarterback in football.
Yes, he still has the resume that is unmatched by current players, but when it comes to who is the best quarterback right now? That is quite the conversation.
And for Fox Sports, in naming their top-10 quarterbacks entering the 2025 season, Mahomes has been knocked off his illustrious perch and comes in at No. 2, with MVP winner Josh Allen atop the mountain.
"Mahomes enters 2025 with a chip on his shoulder after the Kansas City Chiefs got blown out in Super Bowl LIX. Mahomes is also coming off his least productive year as a starter as he threw for 3,928 yards — his first sub-4,000 season — and tied a career-low with 26 touchdowns," Fox Sports writes.

"But, in 2025, he should have one of the best supporting casts since Tyreek Hill left. Rashee Rice, who sustained a torn ACL last season, should be back by Week 1, while Hollywood Brown, who started just one game last season because of multiple injuries, will be at full strength, and 2024 first-round draft pick Xavier Worthy will have another year in the Chiefs' system."

The last thing the NFL wants is a Mahomes who is seething and seeking revenge, and he has no shortage motivation with a host of publications and media personalities predicting that he and the Chiefs are about to fall off a cliff.
Having been up for eight years, making at least the AFC Championship game in each season, naturally, a fall will happen, right?

Some think that will happen this year, and with Mahomes' form dipping from his usual high standards, the Chiefs will struggle. But he has Rashee Rice and Marquise Brown back, along with a healthy Isiah Pacheco and Travis Kelce, who wants to end his career on a high.
Many are doubting Mahomes in 2025, and now he's been knocked off his No. 1 spot.
Let the revenge tour begin.

Raleigh hits Nos. 34 and 35 to match Griffey's Mariners record for HRs before All-Star break
SEATTLE (AP) — Cal Raleigh hit his 34th and 35th home runs to set a career high and match Ken Griffey Jr.'s Seattle record for homers before the All-Star break, helping the Mariners beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-0 on Friday The major league leader turned on a fastball from Bailey Falter (6-4) in the first inning and walloped it well past the wall in left. The exit velocity on the two-run shot was logged at 115.2 mph, per Statcast — the hardest-hit ball of his career. Raleigh topped his previous career high — set last season — in the sixth with a solo shot that chased Falter. The Mariners only mustered one other hit off the left-hander, but it was also a home run courtesy of Randy Arozarena in the fourth inning. Mariners starter Bryan Woo (8-4) went six innings. Key moment The Pirates came a few inches away from taking a 2–0 lead in the first inning when Oneil Cruz lofted a pop-up toward no man's land in left field. Arozarena made an improbable catch to end the inning and strand two Pittsburgh runners. Key stat Woo has worked at least six innings all 17 starts this season. Up next Seattle RHP Luis Castillo (4-5, 3.55) was set to start Saturday against RHP Mike Burrows (1-2, 4.15). ___ AP MLB:

San Antonio Spurs' Dream Scenario for 2026 Remains Unrealistic Even With LeBron James News
San Antonio Spurs' Dream Scenario for 2026 Remains Unrealistic Even With LeBron James News originally appeared on Athlon Sports. While there were some big names kicking off free agency this offseason, the San Antonio Spurs signed center Luke Kornet in one of the more celebrated deals of the summer, suggesting that, for the most part, this class is lackluster. Advertisement Of course, depending on how contract extensions fall, the class of 2026 could be loaded, headlined by De'Aaron Fox, Trae Young, and Luka Doncic. Players will be eligible to sign extensions on August 2, with Fox expected to cement himself long-term in San Antonio, and Doncic is expected to do the same with the Los Angeles Lakers. After being traded without his permission and LeBron James opting in to his contract, preventing the Lakers from re-signing Dorian Finney-Smith, there is reason to believe that Doncic and the Lakers have less than a perfect marriage, although he is expected to ink his name to a deal this summer. "The Lakers can offer Doncic a four-year, $229 million extension. Doncic could also opt to sign a three-year, $165 million extension with a player option in 2028, per Marks, which would then allow him to sign a max deal in 2028 that would give him 35% of the salary cap for five seasons," outlined ESPN's Dave McMenamin on Saturday. That report came out two days before James committed to next season, although that isn't expected to change much, as LA will give Doncic the keys to the franchise, provided that they haven't already. Advertisement "While the exact salary scenario Doncic and the Lakers land on remains to be seen, there's no signs of a split anytime soon," McMenamin continued. "A source close to Doncic told ESPN that Walter's purchase was a positive development." Spurs fans can dream about a scenario where Doncic returns to Texas, paring up with Victor Wembanyama in the Silver and Black. While the Spurs could save enough money to make him an offer, the chances of him agreeing to play for a third team seem low, and in order to do so, the Spurs would have to not give Fox the extension he has been clearly eager to sign since being traded in February. All signs point to Doncic being a rival to Wemby and the Spurs instead of an asset, which, to be fair, should have been the expected outcome all along. LeBron James Trade Setback on Thursday Turns Heads
LeBron James Trade Setback on Thursday Turns Heads originally appeared on Athlon Sports. LeBron James recently picked up his $52.6 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers, but has frequently been at the center of trade speculation over the past few days. Advertisement While that may seem like an oxymoron of sorts, the four-time NBA MVP who is heading into his 23rd NBA season made it clear through his agent, Rich Paul, that he hopes to contend for a title in what is the twilight of his career. Unfortunately for him, the Lakers are now focused on building around Luka Doncic, whom they acquired in a trade in February of this past season. This unspoken tension has sparked trade rumors centered on James, but based on multiple reports, the interest in trading for the expensive 40-year-old superstar is minimal. However, ESPN's Dave McMenamin reported on Thursday that the Dallas Mavericks would be interested in adding James, but with the caveat that it would be via a buyout. Advertisement A new possibility that has certainly caught the attention of fans on social media. "The entire league would be interested in a buyout LeBron James let's be serious," pointed out one user. 'I mean i dont see why he wouldnt want to come, Kyrie, Ad, Kidd, Vogel now," added a second. "If LeBron is bought out then damn, prepare yourself Dallas because it only makes sense here," urged a third. "This the only way I'd want bron on the team," said another. "Good. Don't need to gut the team for that," suggested another. "yo this is crazy bron a buyout? Yeah, right," commented one fan. Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James' (23) trade rumors are rampant this A. Vasquez-Imagn Images If the Lakers were to move on from James and he ended up in Dallas, he would be teaming up with Anthony Davis, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson and this year's No. 1 pick, Cooper Flagg. Advertisement It would also mark a reunion of sorts, as James won titles with Davis (2020) and Irving (2016). More importantly for James, it'd give him one final legitimate shot at a title before he hangs it up. The Lakers don't have to buy him out or trade him, but it will be intriguing to see if this comes to fruition.
