The workshop, which was organised on Tuesday, began by introducing participants to the concepts of virtual and augmented reality and how to employ these modern technologies to develop sports exercises and hone physical and mental skills. Participants used augmented reality glasses to engage in interactive sessions in digital environments that simulate future training and sports arenas.
Participants experienced an atmosphere of excitement and discovery, interacting with virtual content in a way that stimulated sensory and visual perception. This unique experience combined learning with enjoyment, and contributed to strengthening their understanding of the difference between the digital and real worlds through purposeful discussions and practical application.
Keeping pace with digital transformation
The workshop is part of Al Dhaid Club's vision to keep pace with digital transformations in the sports sector and instill the concepts of innovation and technology in the minds of the younger generation. This emphasises the importance of building future capabilities and enhancing national competencies in modern fields.

For his part, His Excellency Humaid Abdullah Balsadriya Al Khatri, Vice Chairman of Al Dhaid Club's Board of Directors, emphasised that the workshop embodies the club's commitment to preparing a generation capable of interacting with technological changes in a sporting spirit. He noted that adopting augmented reality technologies in training programs is a qualitative step that opens new horizons for Emirati youth to discover their potential in a fun and innovative way.
Al Khatri explained that these initiatives come with the support of the Sharjah Sports Council (SSC) and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohamed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to promote the concept of cognitive sports and prepare a conscious generation capable of excelling in the arenas of the future.

Emirati clubs delivered a powerful statement, sweeping the top three positions in the championship. Organised by International Vision Sports Management (IVSM), the championship featured thrilling matches and high-level competition, drawing a large crowd and more than 1,000 athletes from over 60 countries to the Al Ain Region. The final day saw the culmination of professional category matches, with standout performances energising the crowd. The UAE's Commando Group topped the overall standings across divisions, followed by ADMA International in second place and M.O.D UAE in third. Winners were awarded medals and cash prizes at the conclusion of the event. This initiative was held in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi and under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP). In attendance on the final day and participating in the awards ceremony were Sheikh Tarik bin Faisal Al Qassimi, Saeed Al Dhaheri, Destination Management Department Director at the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi, and Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of International Vision Sports Management. Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of IVSM, said: 'This year, we succeeded in delivering an exceptional edition of the Abu Dhabi World Grappling Championship by attracting top-tier international athletes to the Al Ain Region and organising professional-level matches that reflect Abu Dhabi's status as the world capital of jiu-jitsu. 'We thank all our supporting partners and the fans whose presence played a vital role in making this event a success. 'We promise to continue delivering high-calibre grappling championships that elevate the sport and help uncover new talent at both the local and global levels. 'Through this championship, we aim to cement Abu Dhabi and the Al Ain Region as global destinations for world-class sporting events, while expanding interest in grappling across all age groups. In future editions, we look forward to growing the event further, both in terms of participation and organisational excellence, so it continues to meet the expectations of athletes and spectators alike.' Pouya Rahmani of Team Nogueira Dubai, who won gold in the Men's Grappling / 18+ / Professionals / 125kg division, said: 'I feel amazing. This is my first world title in grappling as a black belt, and it means a lot to me. 'It's been a long journey, and finally winning this medal is incredibly satisfying. My final match was against Haitham Redha. I lost to him the last time, and he's a strong fighter, but I managed to take the victory this time. Thank you, Abu Dhabi. Thank you, Al Ain.' Caroline Vinhaes of Piramide Grappling Association, who claimed gold in the Women's 18+ / Professionals / 55kg division, added: 'I really enjoyed the championship. Saturday featured strong participation from the amateur and youth divisions, with athletes from around the world delivering intense, technically refined performances. As of the end of the second day, Commando Group, also representing the UAE, sits in second place, while Kazakhstan's Samat Ramazanov Academy holds third. This initiative is held in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi and under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro (AJP). In attendance on the second day were Saeed Al Dhaheri, Destination Management Department Director at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi; Tareq Al Bahri, General Manager of International Vision Sports Management; and Dr Muhammad Fawzy, Vice President of the Egyptian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. Emirati Hamda Almutwa of ADMA International, and gold medallist in the Girls' Under-14 / 35kg division, said, 'I'm happy to be part of this championship. The level of competition is high, and the number of participants is impressive. 'We started preparing well in advance, and from the beginning, I was determined to win gold. I'd like to thank my mother for always supporting me, as well as my coaches and the academy management for everything they do for me.' Khushbakht Rasulov of Tajikistan, who won gold in the Men's / 35+ / Amateur / 85kg division, said, 'I'm a gold medallist, and it feels amazing. 'This is one of the best tournaments I've ever been part of. We travelled all the way from Tajikistan, and I really like it here in the Al Ain Region. 'It's my first time here and it's a wonderful place. The organisation has been brilliant. Thank you for putting together such a great tournament.' The championship continues tomorrow (Sunday) with its final day of competition, which will include the concluding playoff matches across the professional division and the awarding of medals and cash prizes to the winners.
