Buffalo Bills players under the most pressure in 2025

USA Today11 hours ago
The Buffalo Bills are a clear Super Bowl contender over the past few NFL seasons and that's not going to change in 2025.
Not only that, the team will be depending on some younger players to make big impacts throughout the year.
All in all, there is plenty of pressure to go around.
Here are Bills Wire's players under the most pressure in 2025:
WR Keon Coleman
Coleman had a decent start to his NFL career as a rookie but slowed down. A hand injury played a part there.
Regardless, after the Bills decided not to make a splash wide receiver addition this offseason which means the team is counting on him to make an impact.
RB James Cook
Cook is here because of his own doing.
The Pro Bowl rusher is entering the final year of his rookie contract and has been vocal about wanting to get paid. Cook has yet to land a big extension and if that does not come before the start of the season, Cook will be under a microscope with free agency pending.
CB Maxwell Hairston
Any top rookie draft pick has plenty of pressure on them. Hairston is no exception.
The Bills would love if Hairston becomes a solid starting cornerback across from Christian Benford right out of the gate. Easier said than done.
QB Josh Allen
Allen is the reigning NFL MVP from the 2024 season.
In a way, that address pressure. What is Allen lacking on his resume?
You guessed it, a Super Bowl, and the Bills will go where Allen takes them.

Ex-NFL QB Delivered Strong Message to Commanders Amid Drama

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The start of NFL training camp is around the corner, and the Washington Commanders still have a major question mark on the availability of Terry McLaurin. What's the holdup? Nobody can take a guess, but it's gotten to the point where former players are speaking out on the situation, demanding that the Commanders give the veteran wideout his money. The former Washington quarterback Joe Theismann is the latest to sound off on the situation. Read More: AFC Contender Named as Landing Spot for Commanders Star WR "That would be a major problem for all of us that appreciate what the Commanders have done, what Terry has done," Theismann said on 'Up & Adams' this week, regarding the thought of McLaurin reaching a point of no return with the Commanders. "His intangibles and his value to this football team are even more outweighed than his talent, which we know is extreme. He needs to be paid. He needs to be paid right away. We need to put this issue behind us as a football team. He is one of the leaders, and he's a guy that you can always count on." Terry McLaurin #17 of the Washington Commanders carries the ball for a touchdown against the Dallas Cowboys at Northwest Stadium on November 24, 2024 in Landover, wasn't long ago when former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson spoke on the McLaurin situation and praised the veteran wideout for being one of the most consistent players at the position since landing in the NFL. "Pay the man because the man has been nothing but consistent," Johnson stated. "I don't know Terry very well, but from afar, the guy has been nothing but consistent for that organization. He's been a staple there in Washington for his whole career. He plays well. He steps up in big games, and I love watching the kid because he's always making plays." After his run at Ohio State, McLaurin entered the NFL Draft in 2019. He was drafted by Washington in the third round, with the 76th overall pick. From the jump, McLaurin was a handful for secondaries. He produced over 900 yards with seven touchdowns during his rookie season. Read More: Ex-NFL Star Cam Newton Asks Difficult Jayden Daniels Question Since then, McLaurin has had five-straight 1,000-yard seasons. During that stretch, he dealt with an organization that was turning over owners and quarterbacks who were cycling in and out. Last season, he landed some stability with the star quarterback Jayden Daniels getting under center. The result? McLaurin caught 82 passes for 1,096 yards and scored a career-high 13 touchdowns. He was a Pro Bowler for the second time in his career and earned All-Pro for the first time. With one season left on his current deal, McLaurin is ready to lock in long-term again. With the Commanders unwilling to do so before mandatory minicamp, McLaurin steered clear of participating. The Commanders still have time to get something done, but the former Super Bowl champion Joe Theismann wants to see his former team make it happen before it's too late. Dak Prescott Raves About Dallas Cowboys' Offseason Addition

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Heading into the 2025 season, the Dallas Cowboys' offense is set to look much different. Despite all the new moving parts, one key member of the organization is very high on the front office's major offseason splash. After a shaky tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers that was filled with off-field drama, George Pickens finds himself with a change of scenery. Upon being traded to the Cowboys, the dynamic wide receiver has an opportunity at a fresh slate in the NFL. This new situation has the potential to yield positive dividends for Pickens, as he'll be playing alongside an MVP-level QB and one of the league's top wide receivers. While continuing to recover from the hamstring injury that cut his 2024 season short, Dak Prescott held a free football camp for kids in the Texas area. Following the festivities Tuesday, the Cowboys star fielded an array of questions from the media. Among the things brought up was his newest weapon within the offense. Prescott has spoken highly of Pickens in the past, and continued to rave about him Tuesday. He is a strong believer in his abilities on the football field and believes he could be a strong addition to the Cowboys. "He's got separation, even when he's not getting the ball at times. When he doesn't have separation he's still making the catches. For me it's about getting the ball near that guy and letting him go be George Pickens. Go turn on the tape he's great at doing that." Dak Prescott on why it's not going to take long for him and George Pickens to get on the same page and be ready for the season — Jon Machota (@jonmachota) July 8, 2025 Though off-field incidents have altered his perception around the league some, many still agree that Pickens has the potential to be a highly impactful wide receiver. At his peak with the Steelers, he racked up nearly 1,200 receiving yards and came down with five touchdowns. While his production saw a slight decrease last season, Pickens will be looking to get back on track in Dallas. NFL Execs Crown Giants Star in Stunning Rankings Reveal

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. How did the New York Giants get here? We all know the answer to that question. It's only being asked for effect. A once-proud organization... Four Lombardi Trophies... At this rate, it feels it will be a while before the fifth is won. This was one of those organizations that was viewed among the model franchises, but that was a while ago. This organization is 2-0 vs. Tom Brady and the New England Patriots, but they haven't been able to shake one narrative that has followed them for quite some time. The coming season approaches, and no one expects the Giants to climb out of the cellar in the NFC East division. When that's what a team wakes up hearing about itself and when there isn't much to cheer for, fans and the media will take good news anywhere they can find it. Who would have thought? Good news comes from the Worldwide Leader in sports. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler polled NFL executives, coaches, and scouts asking them to rank the game's top defensive tackles. Dexter Lawrence II landed atop the list. It isn't often that we hear the Giants being complimented, but this one is on time for fans of the G-Men. "I thought he should have been (Defensive Player of the Year) with the season he had. He's a true zero-technique nose who can occupy doubles and neutralize the run game. I think he took his pass rush to a different level, and I think he would have had double-digit sacks if (Brian) Burns and (Kayvon) Thibodeaux stayed healthy. A true three-down game wrecker who needs attention every single snap." Those were the words of an unnamed NFL executive. It's been a long time since we heard the Giants were the best at something, but this isn't any fluke. Lawrence could very well be the best in the game. And, Fowler probably sums this up best. Must read: A Giants Backup Role Might Not Fit Jaxson Dart's Grand Vision "Lawrence's game reached a new stratosphere in 2024, when he expanded his arsenal and added a nine-sack season to an already stellar résumé. Dominating the run was always on the agenda for Lawrence. He has the balance, power, flexibility, footwork and acumen to post big sack numbers. In the past, the knock on Lawrence was that he missed too many near-sacks... No longer." Fowler continues... "Lawrence racked up quarterback takedowns while facing a 74.5% double-team rate, higher than any other interior lineman. The Giants saw him improve his ability to transition off blocks, be great on the move and finish takedowns... The Giants will need to scheme Lawrence to keep four hands off him. Adding Abdul Carter to an already good defensive line will help."
