Minister's BIG warning amid Hindi row: ‘You must speak Marathi in Maharashtra, if anyone disrespects…'
'In Maharashtra, you have to speak Marathi. If you don't know Marathi, your attitude shouldn't be that you won't speak Marathi... If anyone disrespects Marathi in Maharashtra, we will enforce our laws,' Kadam told ANI.
Kadam's comments come a day after a video of a Thane shop owner being assaulted for purportedly refusing to speak in Marathi went viral on social media.
A group of men, reportedly MNS workers, allegedly assaulted a shop owner for refusing to speak in Marathi on Tuesday in the Bhayander area of Maharashtra's Thane.
The viral video showed that the men slapped the shop owner several times after he was asked 'Which language is spoken in the state'. The shop owner's response, who was talking in Hindi, that 'all languages' infuriated the men who had visited his shop to buy food, as reported by PTI.
According to a Hindustan Times report, the incident occurred shortly after the Maharashtra government withdrew its orders on the implementation of the three-language policy in the state, which lead to the opposition terming it as 'Hindi imposition'.
A police complaint was filed by the shop owner and a probe is on, the HT report said, quoting an official. Members of the MNS have been trying to push for the use of Marathi language in commercial establishments and banks in the state.
Reacting to the incident, Kadam said, 'Those who beat up (the shop owner) should not take the law into their own hands. They should have filed a complaint against the concerned person; action would have been taken.'
The Narendra Jadhav Committee will share its report on Maharashtra's three-language policy with the state government in three months, a Government Resolution (GR) by the Maharashtra School Education and Sports Department said.
According to the GR, the committee members will be appointed by the government soon.
The committee will study the report by the Dr Raghunath Mashelkar committee and discuss the issue with the concerned constituents, institutions, and people. The committee will study the other States and Union Territories that have adopted the National Education Policy 2020, news agency ANI reported.
The row over the three-language policy began when the Maharashtra government, on April 16, passed a resolution that mandated Hindi as the compulsory third language in Marathi and English-medium schools.
However, in response to the backlash, the government revised the policy on June 17 through an amended resolution, stating, 'Hindi will be the third language. For those who want to learn another language, at least 20 willing students are required.'

Thane man beaten up: Accused made to touch his feet & apologise in front of ex-Sena UBT MP
Two days after a video of a man being beaten up by three men outside the Thane railway station went viral, another video has surfaced in which the accused are made to fall at his feet and apologise by the Shiv Sena (UBT). One of the accused is even slapped. All this happens in the presence of former Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Rajan Vichare in a closed room. In the video, the three men are told to speak in Marathi despite not knowing the language and are warned 'such things will not be allowed in Maharashtra'. 'Jadhav wanted to recharge his SIM card at the mobile phone store. When one of the accused said the shop did not have the facility to do it and it must be done online, it led to an argument. The accused then beat up Jadhav,' a police officer said. As the sections involved were not major, police issued a notice to the accused and allowed them to leave. Several Shiv Sena (UBT) workers had gathered at the Naupada police station in support of Jadhav. Next day, two of the accused were brought to an office where Vichare and Jadhav were present. On camera, the accused were asked to identify themselves and fall at the feet of Jadhav and apologise. Nudged by someone, Jadhav also slapped one of the accused, as seen in the video. Later, in the video, Vichare is heard telling the accused that they beat up a 'Marathi manoos' and 'it won't work in Maharashtra'. The accused, standing with their hands folded in one corner, apologised again following which they are asked to talk to everyone in Marathi, to which they agree. Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray said the incident has nothing to do with Marathi-non-Marathi issue. 'There was an altercation between them over disagreement in a shop over charging of phone. This has been mentioned in the FIR as well. It has nothing to do with language of either of them. I urge all to not give it a colour of any dispute over language,' Thackeray said.

‘Will come again': Perpetrator leaves ‘shocking threat' in selfie taken while victim was unconscious
One of the most shocking aspects of the alleged rape of the 22-year-old woman IT professional at her apartment in a residential society of Pune is the threat message the perpetrator left on her phone in a selfie that he took with her while she was unconscious, the police have said. 'I will come again' read the alleged threat message written in English, officials said. Police said the incident took place around 7.30 pm on Wednesday inside the woman's flat when she was alone at home. Police said the woman, who works at a private IT firm in the city, lives with her brother. The brother had gone to their hometown a few days ago. A senior police officer probing the case said, 'One of the most shocking aspects of the case is the threat message on the victim's phone. This message has been written in the form of a text on the selfie that the suspect has taken on his phone. This selfie has been taken when the victim was unconscious. Probe suggests that the photo taken has been edited to write the text on it.' While the officer refused to share exact details of the text, he said it was on the lines of 'Don't leak. Or else I will make viral your photos'. The text goes on to say 'I will come again'. 'We can infer from the message that the perpetrator has also taken photos of the victim, which he threatened to release (online) if she reports the incident or shares that selfie with anyone,' the officer added. Another officer who is part of the probe said, 'The selfie taken on the victim's phone captures a small part of one side of the accused's face. We are working on that as a clue. A composite sketch of the accused is is being prepared based on the description given by the victim. As part of the probe, we will be examining her phone. Some of teams who are part of the investigation are looking into a bulk of technical data. This includes footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the residential society and those on the approach roads to it. Also the data of the phones that cell towers connected with at the time of the crime. And also the data from the computer based system that is used for the management of entry at the society. MCD puts on hold election to special, ad hoc committees
New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi has postponed the election for 21 special and ad hoc committees, which was scheduled to take place on July 10. MCD announced the election on June 26, with the last date for filing nominations being July 3. However, a circular issued on Wednesday stated that the election was put on hold for some reasons. "With reference to this notice, the nomination of members for election... stands withdrawn, as per the mayor's order. The next date for filing nomination and conduct of the election... will be notified as and when finalised," stated the notice. The special panels include the appointments, promotions, disciplinary and allied matters committee, works committee, Medical Relief and Public Health Committee, environment management services, garden committee, law and general purposes committee, high-powered property taxes committee, and the Hindi committee. "Usually, the number of councillors applying for member posts for each committee is equivalent to the number of seats available.
