In a major haul, Assam Rifles seize drugs worth Rs 113.36 crore in Mizoram
The security personnel arrested three persons in connection with the significant seizure during the past 24 hours.
A defence spokesman said that acting on specific intelligence, regarding the movement of drugs in Zokhawthar areas, an Area Domination Patrol (ADP) team of Assam Rifles observed two individuals carrying white rucksacks. Seeing the security forces, the drug peddlers jumped into the river and escaped across the India-Myanmar border.
On inspection of rucksacks, the para-military troops recovered 33 packets containing 3,33,300 banned methamphetamine tablets weighing 37.476 Kgs. The approximate value of the methamphetamine tablets, also known as Yaba or party tablets, is Rs 112.401 crore, which was likely intended for distribution in Champhai town.
Zokhawthar is a border town in eastern Mizoram's Champhai district, which shares an unfenced border with Myanmar.
In another operation, Assam Rifles found suspicious movement of two individuals on a Chinese Kenbo bike and intercepted them. During the search of the two individuals, 11 soap cases (128 gm) containing heroin worth Rs 96 lakh were found and seized.
In the third operation, Assam Rifles and Mizoram Police, while conducting a search operation in Chanmari areas of Aizawl district, recovered 7,000 detonators from an individual, who kept the explosive materials in his house. The recovered drugs and detonators, along with the three arrested drug peddlers, have been handed over to police.
Cross-border illegal trades of drugs, arms and ammunition and other contrabands are rampant in bordering Mizoram. Myanmar's Chin state is a hub for smuggling of varied drugs, exotic wildlife animals and many other contraband through six Mizoram districts -- Champhai, Siaha, Lawngtlai, Hnahthial, Saitual and Serchhip. Mizoram shares 510 km and 318 km of unfenced border with Myanmar and Bangladesh, respectively.

Renu, a native of Sultanpur, Hathras in Uttar Pradesh married Rohit Chauhan of Khanda village in 2018 and the couple have two children, a four-year-old son and a 16-month-old daughter. No arrest was made until the filing of the report.

Got threat call in Punjabi after attack, says singer and rapper Fazilpuria
Gurgaon: Seven days after a bullet was allegedly fired at the car of singer and rapper (Fazilpuria) in Sector 71 on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), he revealed he had received a threatening phone call in Punjabi "on the same evening". The singer also dismissed an alleged claim of a loan amounting to Rs 5 crore — mentioned in a post by a gangster after the attack — and questioned its authenticity. Sharing details of the incident, the singer said he had left his office in Fazilpur for his home when a car approached from the rear. "Two men sitting behind were looking at me. I mistook them as fans. The men in that car intercepted my vehicle, following which I stopped near a divider. Two men stepped outside the car and I still thought that those were my fans and wanted to meet me. I was shocked to see one of them holding a weapon, following which I reversed my car and escaped while they fired at me," Fazilpuria said, adding he was alone on July 14 while heading home. Regarding threats, the singer said after he protested against the gangsters responsible for the killing of Punjabi singer , he received multiple threats and subsequently received security from the Haryana police. "My security was withdrawn 20 days prior to the attack on me. After the security was withdrawn, I requested the Gurgaon commissioner for a review. He said my plea was under consideration. After the attack on me, I was even under police scanner as there was a theory that I might have staged it, which is not the case at all. I want the police to do a detailed investigation and nab the accused," the singer added. The message said the firing was intended to warn the singer to repay Rs 5 crore to one Deepak Nandal within a month to avoid severe consequences. However, Fazilpuria, on Monday, denied the allegations of any such loan or investment, saying that he "never took any loan from Nandal, who was his old friend", and that all music labels had invested in his career. Two days after the attack, a suspect, identified as Vishal —25 year old— of Sonipat, was arrested from his village Jajal. Police are yet to arrest a co-accused.

Enforcement directorate arrests two Ramprastha Group directors
NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate on Monday arrested Sandeep Yadav and Arvind Walia, promoters of Haryana-based realty company Ramprastha Group , as part of a money laundering investigation linked to an alleged Rs 1,100 crore fraud with homebuyers, official sources said. The arrests came after the Gurugram zonal office of the federal probe agency raided three premises in Delhi and Gurugram, including those of the directors, early morning. The two are directors and majority shareholders in Ramprastha Promoters and Developers Pvt. Ltd. ( RPDPL ), according to the sources. They have been taken into custody under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), they said. The company or its promoters could not be contacted for a comment on the ED action against them. The agency had conducted a survey against the group in September 2024. Searches were conducted against the group in September 2024, too. It is alleged that the RPDPL collected about Rs 1,100 crore from more than 2,000 homebuyers for various housing schemes like Project Edge, Project Skyz, Project Rise and Ramprastha City (plotted colony project) in various sectors of Gurugram during 2008-11. The possession of the flats or plots is yet to be given, even after 15-20 years, the sources said. Earlier this month, the agency had attached colonies and plots spread across more than 1,900 acres and worth over Rs 681.54 crore of the group in Gurugram as part of this investigation. The money laundering case stems from multiple FIRs filed by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi and Haryana Police based on complaints of numerous homebuyers against RPDPL and its promoters, like Yadav, Walia and Balwant Chaudhary for their "failure" to deliver promised flats and plots within the promised timeframes, the ED had said in a statement. The company and its promoters "diverted" the funds sources from buyers of these projects to its group companies as advances for the purchase of land parcels, instead of using them for completion of promised homes, it had said. The company said on its website that it holds a large land bank in Gurugram with a combined development potential of over 80 million sq ft between Gurugram and Ghaziabad. "We have successfully sold 8,000 dwelling units in the region and have the potential to reach nearly 1,00,000 dwelling units in the days to come," it said.
