Noah Nobin died in the hospital five days later, and his alleged assailant, also 19, handed himself to the police. Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident.
'Police in Isipingo have opened a murder case for investigation after five suspects on Lotus Road allegedly stabbed a 19-year-old man. He sustained multiple stab wounds and was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The motive of the attack is still unknown,' said Netshiunda.
In 2022, a then-16-year-old Nobin featured in the SUN after a group of boys assaulted him. That bullying incident left him with a swollen and bruised face.
His funeral was held in Isipingo on July 23, and he was later cremated at Clare Estate Crematorium.

JMPD steps up patrols against illegal street racing
The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has confirmed an increase in reports of alleged illegal street racing in parts of the city, particularly Rosebank, Fourways, and Midrand. This comes in the wake of a tragic accident on Jan Smuts Avenue on July 12, in which an Uber driver lost his life. 'While we strive for a constant presence, illegal street racing often occurs spontaneously and across various locations, making real-time enforcement challenging. However, we are enhancing our information gathering and tactical responses to deal with these incidents more effectively.' Fihla said that collecting specific statistics on street racing-related arrests, injuries, and fatalities is complicated, as such cases are frequently recorded under broader traffic offences, such as reckless and negligent driving, excessive speeding, or driving under the influence. Despite these challenges, Fihla reaffirmed JMPD's commitment to road safety. He said the department is ramping up patrols and working closely with other law enforcement agencies to hold offenders accountable under the National Road Traffic Act. 'We urge residents to continue reporting any suspicious activity. Public co-operation is vital in helping us keep Johannesburg's roads safe for us all.' Elderly couple killed, 6 others injured in KZN house fire
Two people were killed and six others were injured in a house fire on Midmar Road in Shallcross, south-west of Durban. According to Garrith Jamieson, director of ALS Paramedics Medical Services, they arrived at the scene this morning at about 06:30 to find the eThekweni Fire Department already fighting the blaze. 'Paramedics stood by and assessed six people who had managed to escape from the residence and had sustained minor injuries. 'Paramedics were called to enter the house once the fire had been extinguished by the fire department, and unfortunately, [came across] the gruesome discovery of a couple believed to be in their late 60s that had suffered fatal injury as a result of the fire,' said Jamieson. The couple was declared dead at the scene. 'At this stage, the cause of the fire is unknown; however, SAPS were on the scene and will be investigating further.' This incident comes after an electrical fire set two Durban flats ablaze yesterday morning. The fire that started in the apartments adjoining the Grey Street Mosque in central Durban was successfully put out by the eThekwini Municipality's fire department on Monday. The fire, allegedly sparked by electrics, was first reported to the fire department at 10:00. Two flats adjoining the mosque caught alight in Dr Yusuf Dadoo Street, Durban Central. According to the Grey Street Mosque's chairperson, Av Mohammed, it took the fire department 20 minutes to put the fire out. There were no injuries reported. Alleged gun-running syndicate caught in Meyersdal with 30 unlicensed firearms
As gun violence, hijackings and organised crime continue to plague South African communities, police have made a significant breakthrough in Meyersdal in Ekurhuleni, busting an alleged firearm trafficking syndicate operating across provinces. Alberton Record reports that two men believed to be part of the syndicate were arrested following an intelligence-driven police operation in Meyersdal last night. The operation, led by the SAPS anti-kidnapping task team, involved several specialised units, including SAPS Crime Intelligence, the Gauteng Provincial Investigating Unit, Johannesburg K9, the Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department and private security companies. According to national police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, the arrests followed days of surveillance and information gathering across multiple provinces. Officers moved in after the suspects were seen collecting firearms. 'During the takedown in Meyersdal, officers recovered 30 unlicensed 9mm firearms from the suspects, aged 34 and 45,' says Mathe. Police believe the firearms were destined for the Western Cape and that the suspects had planned to transport the weapons themselves. Both suspects have been linked to various other criminal cases in Gauteng and the Western Cape. They remain in custody and are facing multiple charges, including the illegal possession and trafficking of firearms. Investigations are underway to trace other syndicate members.
