WWE has set social media ablaze this week by posting multiple videos featuring former Divas Champion AJ Lee. The timing of the posts, coming just days before the all-women's Evolution 2 premium live event, has sparked massive speculation about a potential return for the beloved star.
This week, the WWE Vault YouTube channel released a video titled "Story of the rise of AJ Lee," which followed another recent video showcasing one of her classic matches against Paige. This sudden focus on a star who has been retired for nearly a decade has fans buzzing.
The Social Media Frenzy For AJ Lee
The WWE Universe reacted immediately, with fans expressing a mix of excitement and cautious skepticism. Many fans posted on X that they were trying not to get their hopes up, with one user writing, "wwe uploaded ANOTHER playlist of ajlee .......... please stop giving me false hope."
Another user summed up the feeling of many, posting, "I am not falling for this again WWE, okay? (HOLY SH** AJLEE IS FINALLY RETURNING!! THAT'S GREAT)."
The overwhelming sentiment is one of hope, as fans are clamoring to hear her "Let's Light It Up" theme song one more time this Sunday, July 13th, in Atlanta. You can see other responses below:

@LucciVee as far as AJ Lee's return to the WWE goes I'll have to see it to believe it if she don't return by the 13th of this month then she won't unless WWE keeps it top secret surprise like they did with CM Punk when he returned back in November of 2023 — jordan mccluskey (@jordanmccl26343) July 3, 2025
Guys I know we all really want Aj Lee to return for Evolution and while I would love for it to happen it's so obvious that she had been thriving since leaving WWE. — Sarah 🎈 (@Cody_Rhodes_17) July 1, 2025

A Trailblazer Of The Divas Era
AJ Lee was one of the most popular and influential female superstars of her time. A three-time Divas Champion, she held the title for a then-record 295 consecutive days.
Her "Geek Goddess" and later "Black Widow" personas were a stark contrast to the models featured on Total Divas, a reality show she famously ran down in her own version of a "pipe bombshell" promo, cementing her status as a unique, anti-diva character.

Lee's popularity was immense, and her work on the microphone and in the ring was a precursor to the "Women's Revolution" that would follow her retirement.
Lee abruptly retired from professional wrestling in 2015 at the age of 28, citing permanent damage to her cervical spine as a primary reason. For years, a return seemed impossible due to the severity of the injury.
However, with the recent return of her husband, CM Punk, to WWE after his own long absence, many fans believe that the door for her own comeback may now be open.
While WWE may simply be highlighting the career of a beloved legend, the timing is too coincidental for many to ignore.
The Evolution event is a celebration of women's wrestling, making it the perfect stage for one of the most influential women in WWE history to make a shocking and long-awaited return.

WWE 'Raw' Superstar Will Miss Time Indefinitely

WWE 'Raw' Superstar Will Miss Time Indefinitely originally appeared on Athlon Sports. One WWE superstar who performs on the "Monday Night Raw" brand will be out of action for a while. During Monday's episode of "Raw," Sami Zayn was scheduled for a singles match against Bron Breakker. While Zayn was making his entrance, Karrion Kross ambushed him for the second straight week. Advertisement Kross capped off the attack by targeting Zayn's ribs with a pipe. Zayn insisted on facing Breakker despite the injury. Breakker ended up delivering three spears en route to a pinfall win. Later on in the show, Paul Heyman informed Breakker, Seth Rollins, and Bronson Reed that Zayn is out indefinitely. As of late, Zayn has been involved in a storyline where he has vowed to capture a world title one day. Kross has insisted that Zayn will never win the gold unless he starts thinking about himself instead of others. Kross' goal has been to beat Zayn to the point where he exposes his true side. Whether or not WWE has any plans to turn Zayn heel once he's ready to return to TV remains to be seen. If he remains a babyface, then he'll likely settle things with Kross in the future. Advertisement There has been no word of a legitimate injury for Zayn, and he was able to bump for Breakker in and out of the ring. The belief among fans is that the angle was done to make Heyman's faction and Kross look like credible threats to the locker room. On the same show where Zayn was injured, Bronson Reed delivered two Tsunamis to Jey Uso before officials stopped further injury. Longtime WWE On-Air Personality Exits Company After 15-Year Run

Longtime WWE On-Air Personality Exits Company After 15-Year Run originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A mainstay on-air talent for WWE has departed from the company. WWE has seen its share of commentators, announcers, and hosts come and go. There are some that have longer staying power than others, such as Michael Cole, a future Hall of Famer. While Scott Stanford didn't have the name recognition of Cole, he secured his spot as a WWE on-air personality for 15 years. Advertisement Stanford announced on his X account that he has wrapped up his time with WWE. He posted a video of several WWE staffers giving him a sendoff during his final day with the company. Stanford is hopeful that he will be back with the promotion one day. Stanford made his WWE debut in 2009. He served as the host for "Bottom Line," replacing Jack Korpela. Stanford was promoted to a play-by-play commentator role on "Superstars." Once WWE introduced pre-shows for "Monday Night Raw" and "SmackDown," Stanford transitioned back to being a host. Stanford contributed to WWE programming both online and on TV, hosting "This Week in WWE" and "Afterburn," which he had been a part of since 2013. Advertisement WWE reportedly tried out several on-air hopefuls, such as former TNA Wrestling interviewer and host Sam Leterna. While WWE was reportedly impressed with Leterna, there's no word on whether or not she'll be brought in to fill the void left by Stanford. Outside of WWE, Stanford is a longtime sports anchor in New York City. He worked at WNYW-TV, WNBC-TV, and PIX11. He served as a post-game reporter for New York Yankees and New York Giants games.
