Pak to make two changes for BD tour
According to reports, left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi and spinner Sufiyan Muqeem are likely to return to the national side.
Shaheen last featured in the five-match T20I series against New Zealand in March this year, where his performance was below expectations — taking just two wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 10.23.
Sufiyan, who also played in the same series, appeared in only one match but impressed with two wickets at a remarkable economy rate of just 3.00.
Meanwhile, the door remains open for star batter Babar Azam regarding his inclusion in the national squad, as he has reportedly been assured of future opportunities.
The preliminary schedule for Pakistan's T20I tour of Bangladesh has been finalised, with the team expected to arrive in Dhaka on July 18, sources confirmed on June 1.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has drafted the initial itinerary and shared it with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The T20I series will commence on July 20, followed by the second and third matches on July 22 and 24, respectively.
All three matches are scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka.
This tour is not part of the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP). The series was arranged following discussions between senior officials of the PCB and BCB on the sidelines of the ICC Champions Trophy preparations, which Pakistan is set to host later this year. For context, Pakistan's white-ball team recently entered a new chapter under the leadership of Mike Hesson, the former New Zealand coach.
The 50-year-old made an immediate impact, guiding the team to a 3-0 T20I series whitewash over Bangladesh - Pakistan's first home series victory since December 2021.
Hesson holds in-depth discussion with Shaheen
The second day of the national training camp in Lahore saw seven players participate in the Wednesday morning session, including Shaheen Shah Afridi, Abdullah Shafique, Mehran Mumtaz, Khurram Shehzad, Haider Ali, Khawaja Nafi, and Ahmad Daniyal.
Additional training also took place during the afternoon session, under the supervision of head coach Mike Hesson and the coaching staff specialising in bowling, batting, and fielding.
According to sources, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi did not participate in ground drills. Having returned from abroad after the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Afridi arrived in Lahore on Wednesday morning, specifically to meet head coach Mike Hesson.
The two held an in-depth discussion regarding future plans for the team.
In a social media post, Mike Hesson expressed his satisfaction with the session at the National Cricket Academy, calling it an important opportunity for both coaches and players to familiarize themselves with one another.
He shared images from the training session, emphasising its significance in building rapport within the squad.
Babar Azam had attended the opening day of the camp, while Mohammad Rizwan will join on the final day.
The three-day camp, involving 22 of Pakistan's top white-ball cricketers, commenced at the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Ground, as announced by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Tuesday. Players were divided into three groups, reporting to camp on June 3, 4 and 5, respectively.
The first groupcomprising Babar Azam, Abbas Afridi, Saud Shakeel, Salman Mirza, Shahid Aziz, and Usman Khantook part in various sessions on Tuesday under the guidance of the national team management, led by Hesson.
According to sources, the PCB is using the camp to inform players about the team's future direction, while also assessing their fitness levels and recent performances.
Furthermore, head coach Hesson is scheduled to meet with top-performing players individually to discuss the roadmap ahead for Pakistan's white-ball squad.
Pakistan's white-ball team recently entered a new chapter under the leadership of Hesson, the former New Zealand coach.
The 50-year-old made an immediate impact, guiding the team to a 3-0 T20I series whitewash against Bangladesh — Pakistan's first home series victory since December 2021.
Following this series win, the team is expected to take a brief break before potentially returning to Bangladesh next month for another T20I series.

Hesson shocks Babar with new proposal
Pakistan's new white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, has made an eyebrow-raising proposal to star batter Babar Azam: take up wicketkeeping if you want to regain place in the T20 international side, sources told Telecom Asia Sport ( The surprising suggestion came during Hesson's introductory meeting with players in Lahore, shortly after Pakistan's clean sweep against a depleted Bangladesh side last month. According to PCB sources, Babar, along with discarded players Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, were all invited to discuss their futures with the new coach. In a recent PCB podcast, Hesson outlined his philosophy of favouring multi-skilled players over traditional specialists in T20 cricket. He argued that relying solely on specialist batters was now outdated, emphasising that he wanted cricketers who could contribute in more than one role - be it with the bat, the ball, or even the gloves. Sources said Babar was stunned when Hesson put the question directly to him: "Can you keep wickets in T20Is?" A bewildered Babar replied that he had never kept wicket in his entire career. Babar and Rizwan have faced heavy criticism for their conservative approach as openers, with strike rates hovering between 120 and 130, often consuming a large share of overs and putting pressure on the middle order. Pakistan's T20I performance has sharply declined since losing the Twenty20 World Cup final to England in November 2022. They have lost 27 of their last 43 T20 internationals, including defeats to Ireland, the USA, and Zimbabwe. Sources close to Babar said he was deeply upset by his exclusion and considered several options before finding a lifeline in the form of a Big Bash League contract with the Sydney Sixers. Those close to him insist Babar's focus remains on scoring runs to reclaim his place in the national sidewithout donning the wicketkeeping gloves.

CWI unveils Pak series schedule
Pakistan and West Indies will play three T20Is and the same number of ODIs later this month. Photo: AFP/File Cricket West Indies (CWI) has started ticket sales for the upcoming white-ball series against Pakistan, with the first T20I scheduled to be played on July 31 at the Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill, Florida. This comes amid reports suggesting that the board is likely to reject a proposal from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to modify the tour format. As part of the T20I promotion, cricket fans can now avail a special offer — two tickets for the price of one — while the cost of a single ticket has been slashed by 50%. The minimum price for ODI match tickets has been set at $8, while the maximum price is $175. The three-match T20I series is scheduled to take place at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill, Florida, on July 31, August 2, and August 3. Following the T20Is, a three-match ODI series is set to be held in Trinidad on August 8, 10, and 12. The PCB had proposed converting the scheduled One Day Internationals (ODIs) into additional T20 Internationals (T20Is), aiming to provide the national team with more preparation in the shorter format ahead of key upcoming tournaments — the 2025 ACC Men's Asia Cup and the 2026 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, both of which will be played in the T20 format. However, despite ongoing discussions, CWI is reportedly inclined to maintain the originally agreed schedule. This means Pakistan will play both the three T20Is and the full ODI series as initially planned. CWI has yet to issue an official response to the PCB's proposal, but sources suggest the West Indies board is firm on sticking with the current itinerary. It is pertinent to mention that the Men in Green are also slated to tour Bangladesh for a three-match T20I series, with the opening match scheduled to be played on July 20 at the Shere-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. According to details, the Pakistan men's cricket team will arrive in Bangladesh on July 16. The remaining T20Is will also be played at the same venue on July 22 and 24. All three matches are scheduled to begin at 5 PM Pakistan Standard Time. White-Ball Tour Schedule July 31: 1st T20I August 2: 2nd T20I August 3: 3rd T20I August 8: 1st CG United ODI August 10: 2nd CG United ODI August 12: 3rd CG United ODI Camp concludes The third and final phase of the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) 20-day Skills Development Camp concluded on Friday afternoon at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore, with a scenario-based 35-over match. The camp, which began on June 16, featured over 40 male cricketers participating in rigorous training and fitness sessions aimed at sharpening their skills ahead of a busy cricketing season. Speaking to the media at the LCCA Ground, PCB Director High Performance, Aaqib Javed, reflected on the objectives and outcomes of the camp, noting its significance as the national side prepares for a packed home and away schedule. "Today marks the end of the final phase, which focused on some of the Pakistan Shaheens players ahead of their England tour. Earlier phases focused on player-coach interaction with our national men's team. Off-season is the ideal time for players to identify and address weaknesses, but our work doesn't stop here," Aaqib said. "You can't fix everything in a week, but these camps help us fill gapswhether it's a spin all-rounder, a fast-bowling all-rounder, or wicketkeeping options.
