We know monochrome has always been a huge fashion trend, but it has made its way into the swimwear department in recent years – not that we're complaining.
A black and white swimsuit or bikini set is not only timeless, but flattering, chic and gives that old money aesthetic.
We have long lusted after Monday Swimwear's Capri Top, which you can mix and match with any monochrome bottoms from the brand, but we could never justify £105 on just one separate.
Thankfully, New Look has heard our cries for chic and flattering swimwear to see us through the summer and upcoming holidays, as it has launched the Black Contrast Trim Underwired Padded Bikini Top, which pairs beautifully with the Black Contrast Trim High Waisted Bikini Bottoms. Whether you shop the co-ord as separates or the full two-piece you will still save more than the Monday swimwear item.
Black Contrast Trim Underwired Padded Bikini Top
Crafted from a polyester and elastane blend, with added lining for coverage. The underwired bikini top achieves a balconette bra style, is lightly padded, has thick adjustable straps and a back clasp. The bikini top is in black with white contrast details on the straps and cups. Available in 32B to 36D, as well as three colours.

Black Contrast Trim High Waisted Bikini Bottoms
The main bottoms have been crafted from a polyester and elastane blend, while the mesh inner is nylon and elastane hybrid and lining is polyester. The high rise bottoms have stretch for a comfortable fit without any gaping. It boasts a high leg as well as contrast white tie belt.
BUY NOW FOR £14.99
New Look's Black Contrast Trim Underwired Padded Bikini Top features the same balconette style shape as Monday Swimwear's Capri Bikini Top, though arguably more coverage and support.
Both designs feature a black body and white contrast detail across the cups and straps, though New Look has a larger contrast border, which we prefer.
New Look's design has been crafted from polyester and elastane, which is not too dissimilar to Monday Swimwear's recycled nylon and spandex creation.

The shoulder straps are adjustable on both designs, though New Look's straps are thicker and are more comfortable for those with bigger busts. The main difference is New Look's bikini top has a back clasp, whereas Monday Swimwear's creation has a tie back for a secure fit.
While New Look's sizing is available in 32B to 36D cups, Monday Swimwear is a bit more obscure, as it comes in petite to very very voluptuous – thankfully there is a size guide to help you work it out.
This set is STUNNING…. but we're in the 'cossie livs' huns. (Picture: Metro/Monday Swimwear)
Both colour block bikinis are sold as separates so shoppers can mix and match to find the perfect bottoms for them, though we would opt for New Look's high rise bikini bottoms, or the Marseille or Costa Rica bottoms from Monday Swimwear.
While both designs may look similar, the price is glaringly different. New Look's bikini top fetches just £19.99, while Monday Swimwear's bikini top will set you back £105, which makes a saving of £85. If we add in New Look's bikini bottoms for £14.99, which resemble Monday Swimwear's Costa Rica bottoms at £90 you will save a further £75. So, in total New Look's set will save you £160 in total.
We'd rather put that towards the next holiday tbh…

'I'll die on that hill': WWE star reveals how she fought against bosses' plans
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video WWE superstar Chelsea Green has revealed how she stood her ground to make sure her biggest night ended the right way. The 34-year-old wrestler is one of the big names showcased in Netflix's new WWE Unreal docu-series, and in one episode viewers will see the debate surrounding the crowing of the first ever Women's United States Champion at Saturday Night's Main Event. Chelsea was set to win the historic match in December 2024, but the documentary shows how producers – who help wrestlers plan their matches – wanted her to win with a top rope leg drop. However, she star pushed back, insisting she should get her big moment by using her signature Unprettier move. She exclusively told Metro: 'I literally did a leg drop and peed my pants while we were rehearsing it. But that – I'm not doing that in front of my friends, my family, my fans, everyone watching, you know? Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your show in the link we'll send you so we can get TV news tailored to you. 'I wanted to use the move that I have used since my very first wrestling match.' Speaking up like that is out of character for Chelsea, as normally she's happy to 'run the play' and do whatever she's told. 'Honestly, no, I don't speak up that often. I usually just like to run the play. Whatever they want to do,' she admitted. 'However, there are certain moments in my career where I am willing to die on that hill, and that was one of them. 'This could quite possibly be the tippy top of my career, and I'm not going out doing someone else's finisher or doing a move I don't feel comfortable with!' It meant a lot to Chelsea, but the consummate professional insisted she would 'never' have gone off script if her bosses had decided otherwise. 'I've never been one of those people to call an audible because unless something goes wrong in the ring, I feel like it's taking advantage,' she explained. 'I never want to take advantage of my coworkers. I never want to take advantage of my producers. They trust me.' As Unreal shows, there are a lot of moving parts to WWE, and anything can go wrong. Recently, Chelsea was accidentally counted out during a match on SmackDown, and she's admitted it was her fault. 'If I do something wrong, I come back and I immediately put my hands up, 'I messed up', and that's what I did in that moment,' she recalled. 'I stayed in character, and the minute I got to [Gorilla Position, backstage], it's like, 'I am so sorry I messed up. That was on me. I was out there not paying attention.' The referee was doing his job. I cannot fault anyone for that!' Mistakes like that are part of wrestling, and it didn't hurt Chelsea's standing as weeks later she found herself facing Hall of Famer Nikki Bella in her first match since 2018. 'It's nerve wracking because we've been waiting for this for years,' she said. 'We have been dying to see Nikki Bella make this beautiful comeback after a neck surgery, and after being the longest reigning Divas Champion. There was just so much riding on it.' It was a lot for Chelsea too, who had been pitching to face Nikki at WrestleMania earlier this year, but ended up missing out on the show altogether. 'Maybe this is big headed of me to say, but I think most of us wanted to see the [Women's] US title at WrestleMania in a match,' she shrugged. 'I pushed a lot for that title to be on WrestleMania. But unfortunately, we have so much talent, we have so many titles, we only have a certain amount of hours [the roster] can wrestle.' Her moment with Nikki came after Liv Morgan's unfortunate injury forced WWE into a scramble for creative changes, the likes of which are seen playing out in WWE Unreal. 'I never wanted to see Liv go down the way she did, but when that happened, that did allow me to step in and fill that place,' she pointed out. 'I can hang with the best of them, and Nikki Bella is the best of them.' Chelsea feels like she's being listened to backstage, after years of 'constantly pitching absolutely ridiculous ideas'. 'They really have taken a lot of my suggestions to heart. And it may not go to TV exactly how I pitched it,' she admitted. 'But it goes to TV in one way or another.' More Trending Now, she's excited for WWE Unreal to show everyone the truth about her position in the company. 'I don't hold back. I've always been very upfront and honest with my life, with my marriage, with building my home, being released, coming back,' she said. 'For me, pulling the curtain back on who I truly am and how I work at WWE didn't feel all that crazy.' View More » All five episodes of WWE Unreal are coming to Netflix on July 29. Strictly Come Dancing confirms two new professionals after show scandals
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Strictly Come Dancing has announced that two new professionals have joined the BBC show following Giovanni Pernice and Graziano Di Prima's exits. Alexis Warr and Julian Caillon will waltz onto the Strictly dancefloor when the show returns this autumn. Warr is best known for winning the US dance series So You Think You Can Dance in 2022 and became the first female ballroom and Latin dancer to be crowned America's Favourite Dancer. It isn't her first shimmy with Strictly as the dancer appeared on the US version of the show as a guest professional dancer, and has also appeared on Dancing With The Stars, America's Got Talent, and World of Dance. Caillon appeared on three seasons of Australia's Dancing With The Stars and also starred in So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Wake up to find news on your TV shows in your inbox every morning with Metro's TV Newsletter. Alongside his dance career, he has also worked as a personal trainer and exercise physiologist. Caillon and Warr have both previously danced at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom, where Strictly will return later this season for its much-anticipated Blackpool Special. Speaking about joining the show, Warr said she has 'admired Strictly for years.' 'Joining this incredible family is such an honour,' she continued. 'I can't wait to step into the ballroom, pour my heart into every moment, and share my love of dance with the UK.' Caillon added that joining the case was 'a dream come true.' 'I've watched it for years, especially cheering on all the amazing dancers I know and work with who've been part of it,' he said in a statement. 'I can't wait to get stuck in, have some fun, and be part of something special!' Professionals confirmed to be returning to the BBC show in the upcoming season include: Dianne Buswell Nadiya Bychkova Amy Dowden Karen Hauer Katya Jones Neil Jones Nikita Kuzmin Gorka Marquez Luba Mushtuk Jowita Przystal Johannes Radebe Aljaž Škorjanec Kai Widdrington Nancy Xu Carlos Gu Lauren Oakley Michelle Tsiakkas Vito Coppola Sarah James, executive producer at BBC Studios, says: 'We've been big fans of Alexis and Julian for some time so it's with great excitement that we now welcome them both to the Strictly family. 'They're two incredible dancers with bright futures ahead of them, and we know viewers are going to love getting to know them both.' Additionally, Kalpna Patel-Knight, Head of Entertainment, said the duo were 'perfect additions' to the cast. 'Alexis and Julian are the perfect additions to Strictly, and we can't wait for you to see them light up the ballroom this autumn,' she said. 'With our fantastic professional dancers plus everything else we love about Strictly, the new series promises to be bigger, better and even more glitter-packed than ever before.' The news comes after the popular BBC reality show was hit with scandal last year, with two professional dancers leaving its ranks. Pernice, 34, found himself at the heart of a bullying scandal last year following a series of allegations made by former dance partner Amanda Abbington. After a probe into the allegations, the BBC issued an apology to the Sherlock star – upholding a number of points, but clearing Pernice of the most serious claims. More Trending There were no findings relating to physical aggression, but complaints of verbal bullying and harassment were upheld, reported the PA news agency last year. Di Prima, 30, also left Strictly after allegations of 'physical incidents' during his training with Zara McDermott, 28. His rep later admitted Di Prima had kicked former Love Island star McDermott and said in a statement that he 'apologised at the time' and knew he had 'made a mistake'. View More » However, Di Prima later claimed his foot 'brushed' McDermott after he 'kicked the floor in frustration' due to the 'pressure of the show.' Got a story? Lenny Henry used humour to protect himself while dealing with racist childhood bullying
Sir Lenny Henry, who grew up in Dudley, opened up about the racist bullying he endured during his childhood Comedian Lenny Henry detailed how he used humour as his 'sword and shield' against the racist bullies in his childhood. The 66-year-old was born in Dudley in August 1958 to parents Winston and Winifred. His full name is Lenworth George Henry, and he was named after the doctor who delivered him at Burton Road Hospital. Sir Lenny previously revealed the horrific racist abuse that has plagued him, particularly as part of a Jamaican family in the West Midlands in the 70s. He had said that "Keep Britain white" was often painted on walls in the area he lived in, and that people would hound his mother on the streets, "asking where her tail was". In a new interview, the comedian said a lot of his defence from racism came from his late mother, Winifred. She had 'horrible things' yelled at her in the street after she moved to England from Jamaica as part of the Windrush Generation. At the time, Black children living in the area he grew up in were advised to be outside in pairs due to the racist abuse they went through. Speaking to The Sunday Times' Culture Magazine, he explained: "We were in the midst of this maelstrom, but you don't know that when you're kids. You just gravitate to people who like you, or want to snog you. "My humour became my sword and shield. I could deflect something with a joke. I was being beaten up by one kid when I started to talk about the ridiculousness of us rolling around on the floor like we were married. "People started to laugh and suddenly people thought I was worth something. I was still punched, but I'd have people protecting me. I had three white friends by the time I was 12: Greg, Mac and Tom. I still know them today and they saved my life, really. They encouraged me to be funny." The racism continued well into his career, with him previously explaining that the National Front smeared "N.F" in excrement on his and ex-wife Dawn French's door. They were even threatened with burning rags through the door and abusive letters. Dawn once said: 'We had words scratched into every panel of every car — very offensive, derogatory, racist terminology.' Lenny's career began when he appeared on New Faces at aged 15, eventually winning the show with his impression of Stevie Wonder. Two years later, he started doing a stand up routine on The Black and White Minstrel show, where performers in blackface sang minstrel songs. But being the only black performer in this intrinsically racist show gave Lenny "creeping dread". 'I would arrive at the theatre and know that I would be the only actual black person in the building, perhaps the only one within a 50-mile radius," he said.
