TBI: Former Cheatham cop charged with strangling person involved in crash while on duty
A former Cheatham County corporal is charged with assault after investigators said he put his hands on the neck of a person involved in a crash while he was on duty earlier this year. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said a Cheatham County grand jury indicted Ryan Creech on July 1 after a complaint was filed against him for inappropriate use of force when he responded to a traffic crash. The agency began investigating the case on Jan. 6. Creech, 50, is facing one count of assault with threat of bodily injury and one count of aggravated assault for strangulation. TBI said Creech turned himself in and was booked in the Cheatham County jail on $6,000 bond. The Cheatham County Jail said Creech was no longer in the jail as of July 3. He is no longer employed by the Cheatham County Sheriff's Office. Reach reporter Craig Shoup by email at cshoup@ and on X @Craig_Shoup. Tennessee death row inmate makes last-ditch effort to prevent Aug. 5 execution

If the judge rules in their favor, such an order could potentially delay the execution until the state finds someone willing to do the deactivation.
