Orlando Pirates get Mofokeng warning from father
Early offseason signs point towards an exit, speculation most recently fuelled by the 20-year-old's father, Sechaba.
'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said.
[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia.'
'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.'
Orlando Pirates rejected a R25.8 million bid from Zamalek earlier this year, an offer that is likely to be the first of many from North African and beyond
Mofokeng's father isn't the only influential individual who see's big things from the Soweto baller. Earlier in the season Bafana Bafana boos Hugo Broos predicted the 2024/25 season to be his last in South Africa.
'I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… I'm a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution.'
'Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that's for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that's the problem. But ok, let's hope, maybe I talked too soon about that.'
'We'll see. I think in June, Rele will not be a player of Orlando Pirates anymore, but a good choice is very important.'

Orlando Pirates: Appollis arrival intensifies Mofokeng exit talks
Orlando Pirates have announced the arrival of Polokwane City attacker Oswin Appollis after a year-long pursuit – a week after signing AmaZulu FC winger Tshepang Moremi. This comes amid growing speculation of a Relebohile Mofokeng exit, who has garnered interest from MLS club FC Cincinnati, Ah Ahly, and Zamalek FC. Furthermore, another factor throwing fuel to the fire is the Mofokeng's father, Sechaba, who revealed his wish to see the Orlando Pirates star in Europe new season. You can be certain he will be relaying this information directly to Mofokeng, who will presumably like the thought of chopping it up with the world's best. 'My biggest wish is to see Rele overseas in 2025/2026. I'm praying every day. I don't want to see him in the Betway Premiership again this season. I know God will answer my prayers,' Sechaba said, intensifying speculation of his son's Orlando Pirates exit. '[Whether it's in] Spain, England, Netherlands, France, Denmark, Switzerland — Rele can play. I believe that with all my heart. Take him to Barcelona? He can play. PSG? He can play. Any country. I'll be happy — but not Saudi Arabia,' he added. 'Not yet. He's still young. He needs to compete in UEFA competitions. If he goes to Saudi now, he won't experience that. Yes, he'd be rich — but happiness is more important. You can have all the money in the world, but if you're not happy, it's worthless.' Orlando Pirates have yet to comment on Mofokeng's future. The club rejected a R25.8 million bid in January – early signs of what's to come. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1. Orlando Pirates news: Appollis arrival intensifies Saleng saga
Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of Polokwane City attacker Oswin Appollis after a year-long pursuit. His arrival could officially spell the end of Monnapule Saleng's time in Soweto. The 27-year-old winger hasn't featured since December 7 but did return to training towards the tail end of last season. Appollis and Tshepang Moremi's arrival suggests no Orlando Pirates-Saleng reunion. Meanwhile, there's growing concern that Relebohile Mofokeng will leave Orlando Pirates after his father revealed his wish for him to play in Europe next season. Another figure throwing caution to the wind is Bafana boss Hugo Broos. 'Talking about Mofokeng, I just hope that he makes the right decisions. And that he is not going to a team where he won't play,' said Broos. 'I see all the things around, Barcelona and Rangers and… (sighs) I'm a little bit afraid. I just hope that the people around make the choice of the best sportive solution and not the best financial solution. 'Okay, I think his parents want the best for him, that's for sure. But there is another guy who wants to win a lot of money also, but that's the problem. But ok, let's hope, maybe I talked too soon about that. 'We'll see. Orlando Pirates STRONGEST XI with new signings plus Appollis
With Orlando Pirates having secured the services of Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis, the Buccaneers are looking like a team to beat this coming season. The 23-year-old was announced as Pirates' latest signing on Wednesday afternoon. He joins eight other new players who were unveiled last week by the Soweto giants. Having lost the Betway Premiership, Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League last season in the final two months of the campaign, the Sea Robbers have strengthened their team with quality players. With new players and a new coach, expect the Buccaneers to play a different brand of football. While their defence won't change much, expect more changes in the middle of the park and upfront. Relebohile Mofokeng is set to leave the club in the coming weeks, opening up space for Tshepang Moremi and Oswin Appollis. In midfield, Sipho Mbule should easily stamp his authority, benching the likes of Thalente Mbatha and Kabelo Dlamini. Mamelodi Sundowns are looking sharp and with their Club World Cup experience, expect them to be more fired up this coming season. The Buccaneers should win at least 20 league matches if they are to match the Brazilians. Here is how Orlando Pirates will likely lineup this coming season: Sipho Chaine (GK) Deano van Rooyen (RB) Nkosinathi Sibisi (CB) Thabiso Sesane (CB) Nkosikhona Ndaba (LB Makhehlene Makhaula (DM) Sipho Mbule (CM) Sinoxolo Kwayiba (AM) Oswin Appollis (LW) Mohau Nkota (RW) Tshegofatso Mabasa (FW) Orlando Pirates will conduct their pre-season camp in Spain for two weeks before returning to their home country. Expect additional signings to be announced in the coming weeks.
