Don't expect the Boston Celtics to trade Brown or White
On Monday, June 23, the Boston Celtics traded Jrue Holiday to the Portland Trail Blazers. Brad Stevens then followed that up with the June 24 trade of Kristaps Porzingis, with the veteran big man being sent to the Atlanta Hawks as part of a 3-team deal. However, those trades haven't stopped the rumor mill from churning out ideas of a potential Jaylen Brown or Derrick White trade.
Both Brown and White are expected to shoulder significant roles next season, as the Celtics attempt to navigate life without Jayson Tatum, who is recovering from a torn Achilles.
During a recent news conference, Celtics Vice President of Basketball Operations, Mike Zarren, quickly shut down the idea that Boston has been considering trade offers for either star. Zarren noted that "there haven't been anything close to serious discussions" regarding a potential trade for either player.
'Those two guys are really, really great NBA players,' Zarren said. 'There hasn't been anything close to serious about trading them. And so I'm not sure where all this reporting came from. But those guys are key parts of our team, and we're lucky to have them here.'
The only logical reason to consider trading Brown or White is to create further flexibility below the luxury tax line. However, the Celtics would be unlikely to get fair or comparable value in any potential trade. Therefore, the most logical outcome will be for White and Brown to remain part of the roster heading into next season.

In a June 28 edition of Jake Fischer's column in the "Stein Line" newsletter, he noted how Boston are likely looking for a similar package to what the New York Knicks paid to acquire Mikal Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets last summer. 'Boston told at least one rival team that it would have insisted on a 'Mikal Bridges-type' package to part with Derrick White, league sources say,' Fischer wrote on 'The Stein Line' Substack newsletter on June 28. 'The Celtics have certainly received no shortage of inbound trade calls on both White and Jaylen Brown in recent days, but nothing got serious on either front.' White is one of the best two-way guards in the NBA. After losing Holiday, it's unlikely Stevens signs off on a trade that sees White leave the franchise. New team floated as potential suitor for Boston Celtics' Jaylen Brown
Jaylen Brown and Derrick White have found themselves being floated in trade rumors to begin the NBA offseason. The Boston Celtics duo are two of the best players on the roster. However, with Brad Stevens already trading away Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, it would appear everyone outside of Jayson Tatum is available for the right price. During a recent episode of "The Zach Lowe Show," the long-time NBA analyst floated the Sacramento Kings as a potential suitor for Brown. Lowe did, however, note how he doesn't expect the All-Star forward to be traded this summer. 'I get the sense there was real smoke, there was something going on,' Lowe said. 'That something maybe has subsided. I said last week that I would bet on (White and Brown) being on the Celtics next year but I'm not slamming the door shut on some team — the Kings come to mind — being like, we'll offer you everything, all the swaps, all the picks, whatever you want for Jaylen Brown and at least making the Celtics think about it. I don't think that's going to happen. I think they will both be on the team next year but they instantly could become the main characters of free agency.' The Kings have plenty of assets to piece together an enticing trade offer. The problem is, none of the incoming players are at the level of Brown. Therefore, Boston would be taking a step backward in terms of talent. Stevens is clearly in the early stages of retooling the roster, with an eye on contending in the 2026-27 season once Jayson Tatum returns from an Achilles tendon tear. As such, it's unlikely we see Brown or White moving to a new team this summer, unless, of course, a team produces a trade package similar or better than the one that sent Mikal Bridges to the New York Knicks last summer. Western Conference contender could target Boston Celtics' free agent big man
Luke Kornet has earned a pay rise this summer. The Boston Celtics' big man has emerged as one of the best backup centers in the NBA over the past two years and has been a reliable part of Joe Mazzulla's rotation. However, those improvements mean that Boston likely faces some competition to keep the 7-footer on the roster moving forward. According to a June 29 report from Marc Stein, via his "Stein Line" newsletter, the LA Clippers are viewed as a "team to watch" in Kornet's free agency. They join the San Antonio Spurs, who Jake Fischer recently cited as having an interest in the former champion. "To add to another Fischer report from Saturday night: The Clippers have also been described as a team to watch, alongside San Antonio, in the Luke Kornet chase," Stein reported. Despite being a non-shooting big, Kornet has figured out how to thrive on the perimeter. He's developing his playmaking out of the short roll, is a willing and capable screener, and provides vertical spacing when operating in the dunker spot or when cutting toward the rim. Mazzulla has figured out the perfect system to get the best out of the big man. Nevertheless, the Celtics' current cap situation means they may struggle to keep pace with other offers Kornet may receive. Fortunately, the Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis trades have given Brad Stevens some additional flexibility, but with Al Horford's free agency also on the agenda, the Celtics could be forced into making a tough decision.
