We're one step closer to BTS' (방탄소년단) full-group reunion! Earlier today (11th June 2025, Wednesday), members Jimin (지민) and Jungkook (정국) completed their mandatory military service. The duo appeared in front of the press and their fans to celebrate their discharge.
Park Jimin, 30, and Jeon Jungkook, 28, greeted the waiting journalists and ARMYs at the front of the base camp in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi, at around 9am KST. The crowd cheered for the two as they made their first public appearances since their enlistment. The duo thanked the crowd for patiently waiting for them, with Jimin saying to fans, 'Thank you so much for coming all this way to see us, ARMYs'.
Jimin and Jungkook are BTS' fifth and sixth members to fulfil their duties to their country. Yesterday (10th June, Tuesday), groupmates RM (알앰) and V (뷔) greeted fans after completing their mandatory military service. Jin (진) and J-hope (제이홉) completed their service last year, leaving Suga (슈가) the last to wrap up his military duties. The rapper enlisted as a public service worker and will complete his military service on 21st June (Saturday).
During their press conference, Jimin and Jungkook also answered questions about the group's long-awaited comeback. While they shared no details about their future, the two promised the crowd that BTS would return as a group soon. Since it's been almost three years since BTS' last group activities, it's no surprise that fans and the public have been eagerly waiting for the renowned boy band's comeback.
In the meantime, the group will celebrate their 12th anniversary later this week with a wide-scale celebration. In addition to online content, the BTS Festa will hold an offline event at the Korea International Exhibition Centre (KINTEX) on 13th and 14th June (Friday and Saturday). J-hope's finale concert for his 'Hope On The Stage' tour will also take place on the same days at Goyang Stadium.
Welcome back, Jimin and Jungkook! Now, all that's left is for Suga to complete his service, and we're on our way to the much-anticipated BTS reunion. Check out the moment the two completed their military service:

#SHOWBIZ: Director defends BlackPink's Jisoo's sniper role in 'Omniscient Reader'

SEOUL: All eyes are on Omniscient Reader ahead of its July 23 release in South Korea, but it's BlackPink's Jisoo who finds herself at the heart of a controversy regarding her character's transformation. Koreaboo reported yesterday that fans of the film, which is based on a popular novel of the same name, are upset about changes made to Jisoo's character, Lee Ji-hye. In the novel, Ji-hye is a sword-wielding warrior guided by a powerful sponsor — Admiral Yi Sun-sin. However, in the film, she has been reimagined as a sniper, with her sponsor storyline omitted entirely. Director Kim Byung-woo addressed the backlash, saying the omission was due to time constraints. "Her sponsorship narrative simply hasn't come into play yet; we thought the timing for that part of the story just hasn't arrived within this film," he told Korea JoongAng Daily. "Some fans might worry that we've changed Ji-hye's sponsorship, but I want to clarify that we haven't changed anything." Kim explained that the film only covers the first 10 per cent of the novel and emphasised the importance of focus. "We felt it was much more efficient to only introduce the elements relevant to the events happening in the film." The core theme, he said, is "solidarity" — as protagonist Kim Dok-ja finds strength in new allies when the world turns into a novel he once read. Kim hinted that Ji-hye's full backstory could surface later. "I did think about how I would approach it if I got the chance to make a sequel," he said. Based on the hit web novel by Sing N Song, the film also stars Lee Min-ho, Ahn Hyo-seop, Chae Soo-bin, and Shin Seung-ho.
