Kaizer Chiefs transfers: Mayele's dreams, midfield flop sent packing

Today's Kaizer Chiefs news wrap looks at Mdu Mdantsane's doomed spell with the club and Fiston Mayele's latest ambitions.
Wouldn't it be ironic if long-standing Kaizer Chiefs target Fiston Mayele dashed the Sea Robbers' continental dreams this season? The Pyramids FC striker has an exemplary record in the Champions League, with six goals in 10 outings this term. Overall, he's scored 19 times in 34 appearances in Africa's premier club competition. Pyramids vs Pirates in the semi-final second leg kicks off on Friday, 25 April at 20:00. It's delicately poised after a 0-0 draw in the first encounter.

Since a move from Cape Town City in July 2023, Mduduzi Mdantsane has failed to make the grade at Kaizer Chiefs. In 16 appearances, he failed to score a single goal and spent large periods on the sidelines. At his peak value, transfermarkt estimates that Mduduzi Mdantsane was at his most desirable in the market in February 2023. They gauged him to be worth 1.2m (R22.8 million). Now, just under two years later, they figure he's worth half that (R11.4 million). Injuries have ravaged his time at Naturena, including an unfortunate one sustained in a car accident. However, when fit, his form hasn't been to the standard expected by Chiefs. A loan spell with Richards Bay in 2024-2025 has proved to be the final nail in his Amakhosi coffin.
What's next for Mdantsane?

OFFICIAL: Orlando Pirates sign Malian midfield maestro

Orlando Pirates are revamping their squad so they can mount a challenge for Betway Premiership and Champions League glory. Aboudlaye Mariko arrives from Djoliba AC. What will the 23-year-old bring to the party? 'Ouaddou could beat Chiefs with a relegation team' The Sea Robbers have swooped to sign the relatively unknown Abdoulaye Mariko from Djoliba. The midfield schemer played seven times in the Champions League last season. Kabelo Kgositsile, Masindi Nemtajela, Nkosikhona Ndaba, Tshepo Mashiloane, Sihle Nduli, Tsepang Moremi, Sinoxolo Kwayiba, Yanela Mbuthuma and Sipho Mbule are all expected to become Pirates players during the winter window. Is Moremi the new Segolela? Ouaddou had a colourful career that wasn't short of some controversy. Image: Sowetan Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana wide forward Relebohile Mofokeng seems destined for a big-money move away from South Africa. He racked up a staggering 49 appearances in the 2024-2025 season across all competitions. Arguably the club's most important operator, that sample of matches included 12 goals and 15 assists. It's a stellar output for any player, let alone one who only exited his teens in October 2024. Pirates make their move for exciting PSL striker? Kaizer Chiefs target chooses a tasty move to Europe instead

Kaizer Chiefs have lined up several transfer targets, but Ime Okon has spurned their advances in favour of a sexy move to Germany. 21-year-old Okon is already a key pillar in SuperSport United's defence. Okeon recently scored for South Africa in a key Cosafa Cup clash against Zimbabwe. 'Chiefs will still finish ninth with their new signings' SuperSport United defender Ime Okon, still just 21, is one of the most coveted players in South Africa's Betway Premiership. His talents haven't gone unnoticed in Europe. Kaizer Chiefs pre-season tour schedule 08 July, 19:00 vs. Vitesse Arnhem 11 July, 16:00 vs. FC Utrecht (behind closed doors) 12 July, 14:00 vs. NEC Nijmegen 15 July, 19:00 vs. PEC Zwolle 16 July, 19:00 vs. FC Twente The behind-closed-doors (no fans in the stadium) clash with Utrecht was initially going to be the first match of the tour. However, Chiefs face Vitesse first on 08 July. What's also slightly underwhelming is that none of the traditional three giants, Ajax, Feyenoord or PSV Eindhoven, are on the itinerary. The last time that none of those sides won the Dutch Eredivisie was when Twente became champions in 2009-2010. Chiefs target Serbian-based flop striker Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
