Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship is coming to a close, with five races remaining on the calendar. The Jakarta E-Prix is a crucial race, and it's hard to predict who may lift the trophy in Indonesia this year.
The current season has already seen seven different race winners and fifteen drivers on the podium. Not only that, but every single team has achieved a podium finish so far — a clear indication of how tight and unpredictable the competition is.

Oliver Rowland
Nissan's Oliver Rowland is far ahead of the competition so far, as he dominates the FIA Drivers' World Championship standings with 171 points — significantly ahead of Pascal Wehrlein, who sits in second position with 103 points for TAG Heuer Porsche.
Rowland has a total of four wins and three second-place finishes this season, and he may continue his winning streak in Jakarta as well.
Maximilian Gunther
Maserati MSG Racing's Maximilian Gunther is being counted among the hot favourites to bag a podium at the Jakarta E-Prix. He has two wins under his belt this year and will be trying his best to maintain his stronghold in the city and add more points to his tally.
He had secured third place in the Part 1 race in 2023, having started from Julius Bar Pole Position — a historic moment as Maserati's first single-seater motorsport pole since 1958.
He again bagged the pole the next day of the double-header and went on to win his first race in the iconic blue livery of Maserati MSG Racing. It marked Maserati's first single-seater championship podium since Juan Manuel Fangio's 1957 German Grand Prix victory, en route to that year's Formula One title.
Pascal Wehrlein
Pascal Wehrlein won one of the two races at the Jakarta E-Prix's last edition, and the TAG Heuer Porsche driver is very much in form at present, with a win in Miami and three more podium finishes in the Formula E 2025 World Championship so far.
He is second in the 2025 Formula E Driver Standings with 103 points and will be aiming for a win to catch up with Rowland.
Mitch Evans
Jaguar TCS Racing's Mitch Evans has been away from the podium for a long time now after winning the first race of this season in Sao Paulo. But this could also indicate his growing hunger for a win — or at least another podium — possibly in Jakarta, before the season comes to a close. Evans had won the first edition of the Jakarta E-Prix in 2022, when three drivers crossed the line within a single second.
The other two drivers were Jean-Éric Vergne and Edoardo Mortara, who took second and third positions in that Season 8 race.
He also bagged the third spot on the podium in Race 2 of the Jakarta double-header in 2023. This makes him one of the strong contenders to make a comeback on the podium.

Since Nick Cassidy and Sebastien Buemi have also ended their race droughts this year, one can expect a new winner in Jakarta as well. The E-Prix begins on Friday with the free practice session and will conclude on Saturday with the final race in the early evening. The heat is on — but rain is likely, and that's enough to add to the unpredictability factor.

All the Formula E teams are supposed to nominate two rookies for the test. The test gives young, aspiring drivers a chance to try their hand at the Formula E cars and impress prospective teams amid their quest to excel in the motorsport. Who can participate in the Berlin Rookie Test? The Season 11 Berlin Rookie Test is scheduled after the Berlin double-header on Monday, July 14. There will be two three-hour sessions during the test. Most of the teams have already nominated two names for the same, some of whom had also participated in last year's rookie test. For the rookie test, the Formula E teams can nominate rookies who have some experience with the Formula E machinery before they take part in the test. The drivers who have never taken part in a Formula E race and were not on the entry list in the previous season can participate in the test. Rookie drivers must hold either a full E-Licence or a Free Practice Only E-Licence in order to qualify for the nomination. They also undergo a training session on electrical safety to understand the functioning of the Formula E cars and make themselves aware of the technical and sporting regulations for the championship. They can only participate in up to two official test days. Nominations for the Berlin Rookie Test Andretti Formula E team has nominated their Reserve and Development driver Jak Crawford along with Fred Vesti. Crawford had participated in the rookie test last year as well and had finished second. Johnathan Hoggard and Zak O'Sullivan will drive for Envision Racing. Ayhancan Güven and Elia Weiss will drive for TAG Heuer Porsche. DS Penske has nominated Nikita Bedrin for the test, while Cupra Kiro has nominated Bianca Bustamante. NEOM McLaren has nominatedAlex Dunne and Ella Lloyd for the rookie test. Now, the FIA has given fans a behind-the-scenes look at how local marshals in each host country are trained before every Formula E race to ensure that operations run swiftly, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Training local marshals at Formula E circuits A video shared on the FIA Official Instagram page features Benoit Dupont, Head of Circuit Operations at FIA Formula E, offering a glimpse into the marshal training process at the Jakarta E-Prix. Speaking about the preparation in Jakarta this year, Dupont explains, 'Before each Formula E race, we make sure that marshals are trained to the correct level to understand how to efficiently remove and recover a car. It's very important to have precise and fast operations. We've been in Indonesia before, but it was two years ago, so the goal here is to bring everyone back up to speed.' He adds that Formula E cars require a specific method of being lifted, particularly using a strap in a defined way. As a result, every post is trained individually to ensure marshals are fully up to date. Dupont also highlights the crucial role of the clerk of the course, who acts as a bridge between FIA officials and local marshals. He says, 'Leaving a legacy is an important part of what the FIA brings to these races. There are international procedures that might not be followed at local races, so we ensure they meet the latest standards. That's why we conduct training sessions like this,' he says. 'The clerk of the course connects with the marshals, all the trackside personnel, and the recovery team. Since they communicate in their local language, the clerk ensures the communication line remains as efficient as possible.'
