Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark played in five games following her return from a quad injury. However, the All-WNBA point guard was ruled out yet again with a separate groin injury.

On Thursday, the Clark-less Fever hosted Kelsey Plum and the Los Angeles Sparks at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. This marked the first meeting of the 2025 WNBA season between the two teams.
Clark still made her way to the arena despite her injury, supporting her team from the bench. And she had an interesting exchange with Plum late in the first half.
With 24 seconds left in the second quarter, Clark appeared to be arguing a call from the bench. As Plum was walking back on the court, she began to point and yap at Clark, signaling for the official in the process. Clark eventually shrugged and sat back down.
WNBA fans seemed to find humor in Plum's behavior toward Clark, taking to social media to leave their thoughts.

Plum is in her first year with Los Angeles after spending seven seasons with the Las Vegas Aces (the team was called San Antonio Stars in 2017 before relocating to Las Vegas), winning two WNBA championships. Although the Sparks have fallen to 4-11 through their first 15 games, Plum is still playing at a high level, averaging 20.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game.

It is unclear how long Clark will be out with her new groin injury, but her status has become uncertain for Friday night's game against Paige Bueckers and the Dallas Wings.

Circling back to the Mercury, though, is it a possibility for a homecoming? If that's the case, there are a multitude of factors involved in a return. Her rookie season was one to remember, and one that laid the foundation for her career. While Diana Taurasi spearheaded the success, Bonner, off the bench, was a major beneficiary. So much so that she won three consecutive Sixth Player of the Year awards (2009-11), her ability as a stretch-big wasn't seen at the WNBA level, and it was one that caught many by surprise. As her career progressed, she became a full-time starter and made an even more incredible impact. In the 2015 season, she was awarded her first All-WNBA selection. However, four years later, she ended up with the Connecticut Sun, alongside her current fiancée, Alyssa Thomas. That could be a lingering storyline for some to eat up like a Thanksgiving feast. However, as Thomas said in her introductory press conference, she and Bonner are both their own players. They can make their own decisions, regardless of any speculation that they want to be together during the regular season. The Mercury might not want DeWanna Bonner This saying has been repeated multiple times, and it holds true: 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' Either way, time isn't on Phoenix's side. As Costabile's article said, Bonner is also interested in the Dream. The writing was on the wall for Bonner to leave the Fever.
