Days of Our Lives June 25: If Johnny Didn't Shoot EJ, Who Did?

Days of Our Lives June 25: If Johnny Didn't Shoot EJ, Who Did?

Yahoo2 days ago

Sigh. Here we are, still not knowing who shot EJ. In the Wednesday, June 25 episode of Days of Our Lives, Johnny finally told his story.
Johnny (Carson Boatman) told Roman (Josh Taylor) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) that his anger had him seeing red, and parts of the night someone shot EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) were hazy to him. He knows he took the gun from Roman's lockbox and headed to the DiMera mansion. He remembered seeing his dad and being so angry, and pointing the gun at him. And then EJ turned around and asked him what he was doing.
He said he never meant to hurt me. And that he didn't mmean for me to have to pay for all the horrible mistkaes that he made. But that the damage was already done. So all that was left was for him to stop me from making the same mistakes that he did.
EJ then asked Johnny to give him the gun, and he did. And yet somehow, that gun — Roman's gun — ended up in the planter outside the mansion. So, someone else came in and used that gun to shoot EJ because one bullet is missing, according to Roman.
Those were profound and self-aware words from EJ. Yet, ever since that night, Johnny has directed an explosive anger at his dad. He's only now coming out of it, and that must be why he's finally able to tell his story.

So, who do we direct our suspicions at now? The show has run through a million different potential culprits. Johnny seemed like too obvious a choice, and we're happy that he wasn't able to pull the trigger. After all, we need Johnny and Chanel (Raven Bowens) to be a happy couple for a while.
Maybe we take a look at young Rachel (Alice Halsey), who's clearly suffering in the wake of so many things going wrong in her life. Her stomach issues may indicate a bigger problem. This could be a physical manifestation of a psychological MOAS — Mother Of All Secrets.
That Rachel was the one to shoot EJ. It feels like she's one of the only suspects left. That or somehow Adult Rachel (Roslyn Gentle) or Arnold (Galen Gering) somehow did it.
Whoever shot EJ, can we all band together and pray that they wrap this mystery up sooner rather than later?

LOVED Brady (Eric Martsolf) bringing up going to a Cubs game with Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) when he gets out of the hospital. Loved even more how Philip specified wanting to go to a Chicago Cubs / St. Louis Cardinals game. While this DAYS episode was filmed eight to ten months ago during the 2024 baseball season, what a coincidence that on the day this episode aired, the Cubs are in the midst of a four-game series with the Cardinals in St. Louis.

It's kind of crazy that Xander (Paul Telfer) wouldn't be happy with a co-parenting situation with Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). Why he thinks he should have full custody of Victoria is unbelievable. Does he equate Sarah lying to him with everything that he's done?
Please do not let this be a Brady/Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) situation where the judge didn't take any of Kristen's past crimes into consideration, and she got full custody of Rachel. Because everybody knows what Xander's done to Sarah and many others in town. That's the only way other than bribery that Xander could get full custody.

Cook County tax board commissioner, staff face multiple fines from ethics board

Cook County's ethics board fined Board of Review Commissioner Samantha Steele and aides for a series of breaches this week, finding that she provided confidential information to the press about the Chicago Bears' Arlington Heights property and wrongly allowed a staffer to attend a conference on county time. A top Steele aide was separately fined for attending Cubs games and traveling for personal trips on county time. Reached Friday, Steele said she 'absolutely disagreed' with the findings but declined to comment further. Steele is one of three commissioners on the county's Board of Review, which hears property tax appeals. She is currently running in the Democratic primary for county assessor. The county's board of ethics released three findings related to Steele's office this week. The highest-profile found that Steele had improperly shared appraisal information about the Chicago Bears' Arlington Heights property with the media three different times. She did so first in the middle of settlement negotiations in mid-2023, and then again later that year during an appeal. Steele had been warned by the county's general counsel afterwards that the board was prohibited from commenting on pending, confidential board matters, noting the property tax code required board members to 'remain fair and impartial and free from bias or influence,' and that confidence in the board would be eroded if the board's decision-making was perceived to be 'subject to inappropriate outside influences.' But Steele again commented for February 2024 stories about an appeal, triggering an email from the Bears' lawyer, who asked why the press was notified before the team. The board of ethics found Steele's comments to Crain's Chicago Business, NBC Chicago and the Tribune amounted to three violations of confidentiality code in the county's ethics ordinance and fined her $3,000, which she must pay in 30 days. Steele was arrested in 2024 for driving under the influence of alcohol after a car crash, but has been fighting the charge and is due back in court later this summer. She won back her right to drive after her attorney argued she wasn't given proper warning of the consequences of refusing a breathalyzer test. She was fined another $1,000 by the ethics board this week and her top aide, Dan Balanoff, $750 for permitting an employee to attend an unauthorized conference unrelated to his county duties on county time. That employee, Ryan McIntyre, was fined the equivalent of 16 hours of county pay after he improperly attended the 2023 International LGBTQ+ Leaders Conference in Washington D.C. McIntyre managed Steele's calendar, meetings, and outreach events. He told the ethics board he was 'told to go' to the conference with Steele in late 2023. After learning about the trip, BOR staff told Balanoff twice that McIntyre would need to use paid time off to go because the conference was 'political in nature and unrelated to McIntyre's County duties,' according to the board's ruling. Balanoff told them Steele pushed back and he went on to approve travel and lodging expenses. The board did not determine attendance was 'prohibited political activity,' but did conclude it was unrelated to his job at the county. Balanoff, they said, 'still approved and submitted' McIntyre's request for reimbursement, permitting him 'to misuse County property,' and failing to ask about the purpose of the conference or review any materials related to it. Steele, meanwhile, 'had even more of a duty' to meet the highest ethical standards as the head of the office, including getting preauthorization for attendance at conferences and training sessions. In the third finding, the ethics board concluded Balanoff, Steele's director of special projects, 'conducted dual employment' by doing legal work for his own firm and attended non-government activities — including two Cubs games — on county time on four separate occasions. Balanoff admitted to answering client calls and working on three real estate transactions during county hours, though he contended he did not have a set 9-to-5 schedule at the county. Balanoff posted pictures of himself at Wrigley Field and the nearby bar, Murphy's Bleachers, on social media on August 4, 2023, when the team played against the Braves, after clocking in at the county that morning. He posted on his Instagram from Wrigley again on April 1, 2024, the day of the Cubs season opener against the Rockies. According to the board, he used sick time to attend when he should have used vacation time, a violation of the county's attendance policy. Balanoff also joined a Board of Review meeting virtually in September 2023 while on a plane for a personal trip after clocking in that morning and not requesting time off. He said he had notified Steele of the travel. The board reported a similar incident in which Balanoff traveled for personal reasons without clocking out. The board separately found Balanoff took non-county calls during normal working hours. Balanoff tried to challenge the board's investigatory findings after he resigned on May 25, arguing the board didn't have jurisdiction anymore, that he did not knowingly violate the county's rules, and that his use of county resources was 'de minimus,' because they did not interfere with his county duties or impose extra taxpayer cost. The board said those arguments were 'unavailing,' that his behavior was 'troubling,' and that the comingling of the outside activities 'creates the appearance of impropriety' and misused taxpayer funds, but was not 'an indictment of Balanoff's performance of his County duties.' He was fined a total of $4,500 for various ethics provisions, which are due within 30 days. Balanoff on Friday said the ruling was a political attack by opponents to unionization within the office. 'We obviously don't agree with it, I'm going to appeal,' he said.

Jensen Ackles on [Spoiler]'s surprise appearance on ‘Countdown' and the ‘Supernatural' reunion on ‘The Boys'

[WARNING: The following story contains spoilers about the first three episodes of .] It may be hard to believe, but Jensen Ackles can be called a TV veteran since he has been entertaining TV viewers for nearly 30 years. He first grabbed viewers' attention in 1997 as teen Eric Brady on NBC daytime soap Days of Our Lives before chasing demons alongside Jared Padalecki on The CW's Supernatural for 15 years. Since then, he's appeared on ABC's Big Sky, CBS' Tracker, and as superhero Soldier Boy on The Boys (a role he'll reprise for the Prime Video show's fifth and final season). He also found time behind the camera by directing six Supernatural episodes, an episode of Padalecki's Walker, as well as executive-produce and narrate the short-lived Supernatural spin-off The Winchesters. More from GoldDerby Marvel's 'Ironheart' reviews: Critics love Dominique Thorne - the show she's in, not so much Sarah Michelle Gellar shares 'Buffy' reboot hopes: 'My dream is to bring back everyone who has died' Benson Boone reviews are in: Critics flip off 'American Heart' Now, Ackles stays on the right side of the law as sardonic Det. Mark Meachum in the action drama Countdown, which drops its first three installments on Wednesday (the rest of the 13-episode series rolls out weekly). On the series, a Department of Homeland Security agent is suddenly murdered, so a special task force is created with Meachum and others from different arms of law enforcement. However, that murder investigation leads them to bigger threats that has the potential of destroying Los Angeles. Jessica Camacho, Uli Latukefu, Violett Beane, Elliot Knight, and Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria star Eric Dane round out the cast. Here, Ackles tells us more about why Countdown appealed to him, that surprising TV face we saw in the opening of the series, as well as an update on the Supernatural reunion with Padalecki and Misha Collins on The Boys. Gold Derby: You were looking for something to do under your new Amazon deal, so what was it about that just seemed like the right thing to start with? Jensen Ackles: Derek Haas [Countdown creator, showrunner, and executive producer], largely. He and I had a couple conversations and then I flew out to L.A., we had lunch, and there was just an instant kind of connection there. Obviously, his resume and pedigree speaks for itself. The guy is well versed in storytelling and character-building and also doing broadcast, which I come from as well. I felt like he had a really good sense of how to build a set and how to build a crew, and how to build a team and a cast that could really sing. And I gotta be honest, I'm not gonna lie. Since Supernatural, I didn't think it would ever get that fun again. This was some of the most enjoyable days on set I have had in my life. From top to bottom, everybody was there to do solid work but to also have a great time doing it. The days that we were all together for the task force headquarters were the greatest days ever because we were all having fun, and we were on set and we were just laughing and we were playing games in between sets or in between scenes. I hope that the chemistry off-screen translated onscreen. I believe it did and I hope we get to do it for many more years. Tell me about Mark Meachum. How would you describe this guy in your words? He's a inherently good guy that has just been dealt a really, really bad hand. He's trying to make it in this world the best way he knows how. He could have gone the bad route and been a drug dealer or a drug runner or working for the bad guys very easily, which is probably why he did so well undercover. He can relate to these guys more so than somebody who grew up in white-collar America and had loving parents. This guy comes from broken home, broken family, and a broken deal. I think that he decided to not go the dark route and try to try to bring light to the darkness. It's a fun character to play because there is darkness in there. It's an internal battle, so he fights throughout the series. The fact that he's got this terrible diagnosis — again, he's been dealt a bad hand — but instead of opting to just cash in and be like, "I'm done. I'm out," he's like, "No, I'm going to jump on this grenade and save as many people as I possibly can." We learn of Meachum's health issues in the first episode. Can you clarify what he is actually dealing with? It's an inoperable brain tumor. And that was one of the great things that Derek wrote in — this guy is not just a maverick. He's not just a cool guy with sunglasses and smoking cigarettes. Do you know Den of Thieves with Gerard Butler? He's just this tough guy in a leather jacket that should ride for a motorcycle club, but instead he's a cop. I'll watch those movies all day. But Meachum, he's not doing it because he's that guy. He's doing it because he's got nothing to lose and he would rather take risks so that his team doesn't have to. Elizabeth Morris/Prime Video Seeing Milo Ventimiglia in the opening was a big surprise since that has been kept under wraps. How did that come about? Did you make a call? I don't know if this is out of the purview of what we should talk about, but that whole thing was filmed with another actor and who did a great job, but they brought him in as a guest star and they shot that whole sequence. Then, I think once they got into the editing room, they were like, "This feel like it needs to be a familiar face." So it's a testament to the Amazon team and a testament to Derek and Jonathan Brown, who directed the first episode and [is] also our producing director, since they were like, "The stakes need to be heightened here because this sets the whole show on its journey." Derek came to me and says, "I think we're going to reshoot that whole sequence, and it's obviously a lot of money to redo it, but we got to get somebody. Do you know Milo?" I was like, "Of course I know Milo. He'd be fantastic. Does he want to do it?" He said, "We pitched it to him and we think he's in." I sent Milo a text and was like, "Bro!" So he came for a costume fitting, but he came to set to say hi. I hadn't seen Milo in maybe a year or two, but we go way back, obviously. It was really good to see him and I was just giddy that he came on. And he nailed it as I knew he would. It's too bad his character dies so quickly in the opening! Oh, trust me. I was already pitching, "Can we do some flashbacks where Milo comes in and we actually know each other?" Derek was like, "Let me do the writing." We find out Meachum may not be the best at romantic relationships since his fellow task force member, DEA agent Amber Oliveros (Camacho), knows his former fiancée. Is there some romantic tension between Meachum and Oliveros that we may see develop over the first season? You will. I mean, with any good "will they or won't they?", there's got to be tension. That is definitely an intentional situation there, but instead of Meachum trying to win her over, he's more like, "I don't need to deal with that. I'm just gonna stay in my lane." But they are partnered up effectively, so you get a bit of a buddy comedy. And Jess just brought it all to the table and did a fantastic job of bringing a really strong character and somebody who's not gonna placate to Meachum at all. That relationship needs that friction, and it will be kind of your classic "will they or won't they?" So far, it's "won't they?" You directed on and , so any chance we're seeing you in the director's chair at all in Season 1? I would absolutely love to direct at some point. I want to make sure we have a strong foundation and we have our feet on the ground with what we're doing first. Look, if they threw me in the director's chair tomorrow, I would feel abundantly confident in the cast, but more so the crew. Vanessa Joy [Smith], who's our director of photography, is one of the best I've ever worked with in my life. [She] and her crew are just amazing. She did all five seasons of Mayans M.C. and she is an absolute joy. I mean, it's right in her name! She's such a pro. So, yeah, if your DP is of that caliber, it's hard for a director to really fail. I love being in a position directing-wise where I can't fail. You're working with Jensen and Misha on . How would you describe working again with them? We already shot it, and it was like three brothers coming together to have dinner at somebody else's house. It was like, "All right, listen, Mom's not here, but we've got to clear our plates at the end. Everybody just mind your p's and q's. Don't mess this up. We've got a reputation. Let's not destroy it." Is Sarah Finally Ready to Face Her Past With Rachel on DAYS? Linsey Godfrey Opens Up

Recently on Days of Our Lives, Sarah kicked Xander out, and now the two are headed for a custody fight over baby Victoria. She doesn't trust his volatility, and he doesn't trust that she'll tell him the truth. The fight over their child only deepens the level of emotions involved. And now that young Rachel is having health issues, Sarah will be thrust down memory lane. Her portrayer, Linsey Godfrey, opened up about Sarah's relationship with Rachel. Godfrey had a chat with Soap Opera Digest and noted that the history of Sarah and Rachel's connection was exciting for her. In years past, Sarah and Eric's (Greg Vaughan) baby Mickey died, but was swapped with Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) and Brady's (Eric Martsolf) child, Rachel. So Sarah spent the first year of the child's life raising her and even managing her cancer care logistics. READ THIS: Delve into the unexpected magic between Xander and Sarah. 'They do have this very interesting, very deep connection, and I love that we are revisiting that,' Godfrey stated. Rachel has recently been having issues with her stomach, which could have something to do with the drama in the DiMera mansion. But, Brady brought her to the hospital to double check, and Sarah's taking a keen interest in helping her erstwhile daughter. READ THIS: Get a look at what's happening next on DAYS. Initially chalking Rachel's issues up to the death of her grandfather, John, Sarah has no idea about the shocking truth that the young girl is sitting on. 'She doesn't really help get down to the bottom of the truth as much,' Godfrey remarked. While Rachel's been a handful over the years, she's also a witness to something that's potentially mind-bending for a little girl. The night of EJ's shooting, Rachel witnessed Johnny pointing a gun at his old man. As yet, we don't know if Johnny actually pulled the trigger, but just seeing such a scene would be overwhelming for a child. Sarah starts to notice that Rachel's got something heavy she wants to unload, 'And she certainly wouldn't think it was something like [Johnny pointing a gun at EJ].' READ THIS: Find out why Sarah no longer plays savior to Xander. Ultimately, Godfrey is happy to revisit the storyline and noted that a conversation about her involvement in Rachel's early years will likely come up between them.
