Muzammil Ibrahim claims even Shah Rukh Khan said he deserved best debut over Ranbir Kapoor: 'Nana Patekar said that I...'
Actor and model Muzammil Ibrahim, who made his Bollywood debut in Pooja Bhatt's directorial Dhokha claimed that stars like Nana Patekar and Shah Rukh Khan said that he should have the best debut award over Ranbir Kapoor for Saawariya for his 2007 movie.
'I think Ranbir had debuted that year with Saawariya, and Neil Nitin Mukesh had come with Johnny Gaddar. Nana Patekar said that I deserved all the awards, but would not get because Ranbir would win. Even I thought I deserved an award for Dhokha, I 100% deserved the best debut award. I feel I was better than Ranbir in Saawariya. I love Ranbir as an actor now, but if you compare him in Saawariya and me in Dhokha, I was better. Irrfan Khan had told Mahesh Bhatt that very few could have pulled off that part in Dhokha,' said Muzammil to Siddharth Kannan.

He shared that he was not invited for the award shows and added, 'I felt that awards shows were supposed to be like a ballot, like we see in Oscars. But here everyone knows who is winning! Only Ranbir is sitting there, so he will win. It is pre-decided. I felt so bad when Shah Rukh Khan sir called my name and even said that he thought that I deserved the award more on stage. As outsiders, we cannot even complain about these. We are not even invited, how will you feel? I felt like crying, I felt so bad. I had so many expectations. I had suffered a lot while shooting the film, and still gave a brilliant performance. I am a big champion of outside talent, the struggle we go through is immense. The industry should learn not to put down outsiders.'
Dhokha also featured Tulip Joshi, Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover and Ashutosh Rana among others in key roles.

Dhanush Says Aanand L Rai Invested Own Money To Cast Him In Raanjhanaa: 'They Didn't Have Budget'
Last Updated: Dhanush reveals he nearly turned down Raanjhanaa due to budget issues, and shares how director Aanand L Rai personally backed him to play Kundan. Dhanush might be a big name in Tamil cinema, but back in 2013, when he was gearing up for his Bollywood debut with Raanjhanaa, things weren't exactly smooth sailing. In fact, he nearly walked away from the film altogether. The actor recently looked back on the film during a special fan screening celebrating its 12th anniversary. While Raanjhanaa became a cult favourite over the years, Dhanush admitted that he was close to saying no – and it all came down to the budget. 'At that time, they didn't have the right kind of budget for hiring me as the lead actor. But this man's (Aanand L Rai) passion was so strong that he just wanted me to play Kundan. He could have offered any actor this part and they would have happily come on board. After all, it's such a great part," Dhanush shared, as quoted in SCREEN. The part he's talking about – Kundan – was a lovestruck Varanasi boy whose obsession and heartbreak eventually pull him into the world of politics. According to him, director Aanand L Rai had to take a big risk to make it happen. 'He went against all odds. I don't know I am supposed to say this and I don't care! He invested his own money as well. He went all out (to cast me). He saw Kundan in me and he stayed true to his vision," Dhanush said. Even for a seasoned performer like Dhanush, the pressure was real. He revealed that stepping into the Hindi film world brought a kind of fear he hadn't experienced before. 'I was not scared during my first film. When I was written off, I was not scared. That's how I am. But for the first time, I was scared. I felt responsible. So, I was praying so hard to God that 'Somehow save this man,'" he said, reflecting on the weight of expectations. In the end, the gamble paid off. Raanjhanaa clicked with audiences and critics alike. 'They made a cult classic. It is not the story of Kundan and Zoya. It is the story of two mad men who believed in this," Dhanush added. The film also starred Sonam Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Swara Bhaskar and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and became a defining moment in Aanand L Rai's directorial career. Since Raanjhanaa, Dhanush and Aanand L Rai have teamed up again, including in the 2021 film Atrangi Re, and are working together on Tere Ishq Mein – a film Rai has said is set in 'the same world as Raanjhanaa." Salman Khan, SRK Fired Fake Guns Outside Rakesh Roshan's Room During Karan Arjun: 'Both Of Them…'
Last Updated: Ashok Saraf reveals Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Johny Lever had fun pranking on Karan Arjun sets with firecrackers and fake guns. Before Karan Arjun became a '90s Bollywood classic, the film's set was a playground for some seriously chaotic fun. Veteran actor Ashok Saraf has shared a glimpse of the off-screen madness involving Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Johny Lever — and it involved fake guns and firecrackers! During a chat with Radio Nasha Official, Saraf confirmed that SRK and Salman kept things lively behind the scenes. When asked if the duo really fired fake guns and burst crackers outside director Rakesh Roshan's room, he said, 'Yes, yes. I never used to go wherever this was happening. Kisi ko sataana ho toh main door hu. But yes, both of them used to have a lot of fun." He added that Johny Lever often joined in on the mischief, but Saraf himself stayed on the sidelines. 'Aur unke saath mein Johny Lever bhi mil jaata tha. Uske saath main bhi fir, masti nahi karta tha par hota tha." The story lines up with what Rakesh Roshan previously shared on the same platform. The director recalled being woken up at night by 'guns going off" and 'bottles flying" near his room. Even Shah Rukh admitted to the chaos in the docu-series The Roshans, saying, 'Pinkie ji scolded me a lot. 'You are troubling Guddu (Rakesh) a lot. I didn't expect it from you.' Because, between Salman and me, I was slightly better behaved; at least on the face of it. I was like, 'I didn't do anything. It's all his (Salman) doing.' We were two young kids, really troubling a father figure, to be honest." Karan Arjun, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Kajol, Rakhee Gulzar, and Amrish Puri, recently completed 30 years and was re-released in theatres to mark the milestone. Karan Arjun is a 1995 Bollywood action-drama that follows the story of two brothers, Karan and Arjun, who are brutally killed by their greedy uncle Durjan Singh for inheriting their father's wealth. Their mother, Durga, prays to the goddess Kali for justice, and years later, her sons are reborn as Ajay and Vijay in different families, unaware of their past lives. As fate brings them back together, memories of their previous lives begin to resurface, leading to a powerful reunion and a mission to avenge their deaths and fulfill their mother's vow.
