Roman Kemp 'singled out' by Justin Bieber as he details awkward meeting

Roman Kemp said Justin Bieber once asked his opinion during a private listening session for his album Changes, but wasn't too impressed by the radio host's feedback
Roman Kemp said he was once "singled out" by Justin Bieber during an awkward meeting with the Canadian singer.
The radio host, 32, revealed details of the encounter which happened during private listening session for Justin's 2020 album, Changes. Roman said Justin invited him on stage to give feedback on the album in front of music industry executives - but their exchange quickly took an awkward turn.

Roman said on the latest episode of his BBC Sounds podcast You About?, co-hosted with singer Tom Grennan: "He singled me out. He said I've got to come up on stage. He plays these tunes to all these label execs, looks at me and goes, 'What do you think of that one?'"

Sharing his opinion, Roman said: "It's alright." But Justin didn't seem too impressed, according to the former Capital Breakfast host, as the singer replied: "Roman said it's alright? Alright?"
He said he then felt the need to share more details and told Justin: "Well, yeah. It's not your best, not your worst." He added: "My words were, 'It's decent' - but I don't think he appreciated it." Roman still follows Justin on Instagram, but the singer doesn't follow him back.
Back in 2021, Roman said he would often go out to party with Justin when they were younger - but admitted he is now a changed man. Chatting to The Sun, Roman revealed Justin invited him along to dinner before a party around the time he released his Purpose album.
"Without a doubt, he was the wildest. He's grown into a very different young man now. He's a lot more serious and focused," Roman told the publication. "But around his Purpose album (in 2015) when he was in London, I have never seen anything like that in my life - and I thought I'd seen a lot. It went on for three weeks, every single night."

Roman added that the partying "just kept going" and he reflected on the attention he received while in the presence of Justin. "I think I was 24, he'd just turned 21 and I remember standing on a sofa in a nightclub looking up and every girl in that room was trying to get my eye to say, 'You can come on to this table.' It's different world."
He added: "We'd go for dinner, then leaving he didn't call for the bill. He was like, 'Oh, they sort it.' It's unbelievable, on a different level." Earlier this year, Roman opened up about feeling the "pressure" of a family trait, admitting there are times he feels like he doesn't "care".
In a March recent instalment of their podcast, FFS! My dad Is Martin Kemp, Roman confessed to being "stressed" this week and often wanting to "turn everything off". This led him to question his dad, Martin, about the idea of retiring, only to learn that Martin couldn't imagine stopping.
The conversation took a turn when Roman pinpointed the source of the pressure: "You." To which a surprised Martin responded, "From me? Why me? You've got a great work ethic. Is work ethic...is that another way of saying you work your b***s off?". Roman clarified his view on what constitutes a good work ethic: "Good work ethic isn't you working your b******s off. It's about a balance between work and life split whilst maintaining drive."
He then delved into his personal struggle: "Can you maintain drive and ambition alongside being true to yourself and understanding who you are? I struggle with that massively because I just...honestly, I just run myself into a moment where I'm like, 'I don't care anymore. I don't care. Like, sack it all off'."

Wayne Rooney 'lands £800,000 Match of the Day deal' after Gary Lineker's exit

Match of the Day is said to be welcoming a very famous face to its presenting roster following Gary Lineker's exit. Wayne Rooney has reportedly signed a big-money deal with the BBC in a bid to start a new chapter away from football management. It's said the former England player, 39, has secured £800,000 for the gig, which will see him appear on MOTD for two years with the possibility of an extension. What's more, Rooney should be involved in the show's 2026 World Cup coverage, jetting to the US, Canada, and Mexico to bring viewers the highlights. A source told The Sun about the rumoured punditry deal: 'Wayne is a natural broadcaster; he is warm, witty, and forensically knowledgeable about all aspects of the game. 'He still has a deep love for football and also gets on well with everyone on both sides of the camera.' They added: 'He is eminently likeable and has impressed on his outings to date—viewers have also really taken to him, which has been clear from social media commentary. 'Wayne will be a key part of next year's World Cup coverage, which is a massive coup, and will provide some much-needed expertise on Match of the Day in the wake of Gary's departure.' It's believed that 'everyone', including the Beeb's Director of Sport, Alex Kay-Jelski, is 'incredibly excited to get him on board', with the insider declaring it a 'great signing'. Rooney's new MOTD role will reportedly be unveiled officially later this month. Whispers actually began at the start of the year, with the same publication claiming Rooney was in talks for a MOTD slot as early as January. At the time, he was freshly sacked from his fourth management job, having secured just one win with Plymouth Argyle in 14 games. It was later reported that Rooney was looking to venture further into punditry, and it was said the role could've earned him up to £200,000 a year, depending on how many appearances he were to make. But now, that figure looks to have increased drastically. Having already proven he can talk the talk in various guest appearances previously, Rooney's next role is likely a natural progression. It also takes him and wife Coleen one step closer to a total TV takeover, given how she reportedly signed a £10million deal with Disney in March to star in a documentary with Wayne and their four sons: Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight, and Cass, six. Rooney is widely considered one of Britain's greatest-ever footballers. Not only was he Manchester United's best goalscorer with 253 goals, but he was also England's record goalscorer from 2015 to 2023. He retired from professional footie in 2021 after being appointed permanent manager of Derby, and now frequently dabbles in punditry. By joining MOTD this year, he is part of a huge shake-up at the long-running programme, which was hosted by Lineker, 64, for 26 years. Lineker confirmed he would be leaving the BBC completely after catching backlash for sharing an Instagram Story about Zionism. More Trending His since-deleted post featured a rat emoji, which has been historically used as an antisemitic trope. The host later issued an unreserved apology for the 'hurt and upset caused' by the video, stating it was a 'genuine mistake' and that he was unaware of the meaning behind it. In his place, Gabby Logan, Kelly Cates, and Mark Chapman will share the presenting role on Match of the Day from the next Premier League season. Justin Bieber sparks concern with 'detox' photo as fans say 'that's not okay'

Canadian singer Justin Bieber has raised concern among fans after posting cryptic 'detox' images on Instagram, amid reports of personal struggles and tension in his marriage to wife Hailey Justin Bieber has left fans unsettled after uploading a series of cryptic photos on Instagram, hinting at a 'detox' while rumours of tension in his marriage to Hailey Bieber continue to swirl. On Sunday, the 31-year-old pop star shared five photos with the caption: 'Detoxxxxxxxxxxx.' Four images showed extreme close-ups of his sweat-drenched face with a towel draped over his head. He appeared to force a slight smirk, which further prompted fans to question his well-being. ‌ The final photo in the set showed a Honda CRV on a highway with European license plates and a 100 km/h speed sign, adding more confusion to the post. ‌ While Justin offered no explanation, many interpreted the word 'detox' to reference a wellness cleanse or possible emotional reset. Detoxes are often associated with cutting out harmful substances, stress relief, or fasting. They can also include saunas, juice fasts, or supplements, though it is still unclear what form of detox Justin is undertaking. Concerned followers quickly flooded the comments. One fan wrote: 'Dear Justin, as a Canadian mama please do not go down the Britney Spears road. You are a smart, talented, loving young man and you are being steered down the wrong path by people who do not care about you." The social media user went on: "Come home for a while, come back to Canada. Go rent a cottage in lake country with your wife, son, and family that care for you while you focus on your mental health and physical health. You are a good kid who deserves better than you are allowing yourself.' The emotional post comes amid speculation of mounting pressure behind the scenes. A source recently told Us Weekly: 'Justin's been a hard person to deal with recently because of what he's going through. It's been really hard on her [Hailey].' ‌ Another insider said: 'Justin's going through a difficult time, and Hailey is giving him room to get himself back on track. He's doing his best, but it's tough.' Although Hailey recently sold her Rhode Beauty brand to e.l.f. for $1 billion, staying on as chief creative officer, reports claim family pressures have dimmed the milestone. Still, insiders insist the couple remains committed. 'They don't talk about divorce,' said one source, while another added: 'Faith is a big part of their life. They believe they are soulmates and meant for each other. They'll do anything to make it work.'
