Texas Longhorns wide receiver enters the transfer portal Freddie Dubose is entering the transfer portal
On Friday afternoon, the Texas Longhorns lost a piece of their offense. Wide receiver Freddie Dubose entered the transfer portal after an up-and-down tenure with the Longhorns. The former three-star recruit did not play a single snap during his freshman season and dealt with an ACL injury.
At the end of March, Dubose was not listed on the first edition of the Longhorns' newest roster, which increased speculation that his time with the Longhorns may be coming to an end. He will now look to join a program that can offer more playing time.
Out of high school, Dubose drew interest from various schools. That included some of the top programs in the country, such as Oregon, Tennessee, and Penn State. For teams in need of help offensively, Dubose could be an intriguing option, especially if he can reach his potential.
Although Dubose's Longhorns tenure didn't go as planned, Texas still has plenty of talent in its wide receiver room. They will be led by veterans Ryan Wingo and DeAndre Moore Jr. Texas will also add a new weapon to the offense in highly regarded freshman Kaliq Lockett. That should give quarterback Arch Manning plenty to work with.
While there is no timetable for when Dubose will join a new team, he is a player who could be picked up quickly. He had a lot of potential coming out of high school and just needs the playing time to showcase his skills.

Who will Florida football lose to first in 2025? Here's what CBS Sports predicts

Florida football faces a veritable schedule gauntlet this coming fall, which many foresee as among the toughest in the nation once again for the Gators. While nobody expects the Orange and Blue to sweep the regular-season slate, hopes are high in Gainesville that the gridiron gang can take a step forward from last year's improved performance. With Heisman Trophy hopeful DJ Lagway under center and the hot seat temperature turned down a touch under coach Billy Napier, there is a good chance the program can build on its 8-5 finish in 2024. However, it is practically inevitable that Florida will lose at least one game — and very likely there will be more. But when will the first defeat come for Napier and Co.? CBS Sports writer Brandon Crawford recently predicted the first loss for all 16 Southeastern Conference teams. Who will Florida football lose to first in 2025? Crawford foresees the Gators falling short against the LSU Tigers in Death Valley in their Week 3 matchup on Sept. 13. "Beating LSU in Baton Rouge is hard. Taking out the Tigers on the road under the lights is even more difficult. Florida is 1-6 over its last seven games against LSU away from Gainesville, and this one's vital for the Tigers' playoff hopes this fall," he notes. "Equally important for Florida, this one's the first of four straight against top 20 competition. The DJ Lagway vs. Garrett Nussmeier quarterback battle will be worth the price of admission." Florida predicted to give Texas its first loss On the flip side of things, the Gators are poised to play the spoiler for one of the top teams in the conference, the Texas Longhorns. "Our preseason pick to win the SEC this season as one of four playoff teams, the Longhorns will not get through the schedule without a loss. The schedule is too treacherous compared to last season, and The Swamp could be a nightmare this fall for visiting teams," Crawford offers. "Believe it or not, these teams have played in Gainesville before, but that came in 1940. Texas leads the all-time series with Florida, 3-0-1." Are the Cowboys trading Micah Parsons? Here's the latest.

The NFL world came to a screeching halt on Friday when superstar pass-rusher Micah Parsons requested a trade from the Dallas Cowboys. Parsons issued a lengthy statement on Friday in which he explained why his recent contract negotiations with the franchise soured his willingness to continue playing in course, the Cowboys reportedly have no intention of honoring Parsons' request to be traded (per The Athletic's Dianna Russini), even if other NFL teams reportedly planned to reach out and gauge his availably. A stand-off between Parsons and the Cowboys seems very likely now, as Parsons could always skip out on the season if the Cowboys don't trade him and still won't come to terms on a new deal. Have any other NFL players requested trades lately? Yes. Just a few examples: Washington Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin requested a trade earlier in the week. Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson requested one in March, and Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett requested one in February before signing a new deal with the franchise. Trade requests can be legitimate, and they can also be negotiation tactics to put pressure on teams to get a deal done. Occasionally, they can be both. We're not sure which way Parsons is leaning, but he can request a trade and still eventually sign a new deal with the Cowboys. Is Parsons going to hold out from training camp? Apparently, Parsons isn't going to hold out of training camp even as he requests a trade out of Dallas, per NFL reporter Ed Werder. What NFL teams could trade for Parsons? We've got a list here of possible suitors you should definitely check out. Are Cowboys fans happy about this? Nooooo. Fans jeered Jones as recently as last week. Is a Parsons trade going to happen? Honestly, we're not sure. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones loves publicity for his team, even in strained contract negotiations. Most likely, Dallas eventually will cave and pay their best player. However, we live in a world where superstar athletes are traded to new teams unexpectedly. A Parsons trade isn't necessarily out of the question. Jerry Jones oddly took a jab at Micah Parsons amid Cowboys contract talks

The Dallas Cowboys started reporting to training camp on Monday, and Micah Parsons did show up despite his ongoing contract talks. And while it's not uncommon for a player in Parsons' position to hold out from reporting to camp, it is odd to hear a team owner publicly question that same player's reliability. That's what Jerry Jones did on Monday. Jones was taking questions about working to sign Parsons — who is in the final year of his contract — and Jones made a point to mention that signing Parsons doesn't guarantee he'd be available. He also referenced Dak Prescott's injury after the quarterback's big contract. Parsons missed four games last season with a high ankle sprain, but Jones misstated the number of games to make his point. He said six instead of four. But still, it was an odd remark to make if you're trying to avoid a contentious negotiation. Parsons did his part by showing up to camp. Why is Jones making those comments in bad faith? Any player can get injured. That's not something to use against Parsons who has only missed four games in his career. Update: Parsons took notice to the remarks, retweeting JJ Watt's comment on the video.
