Nagpur, Jun 28 (PTI) Shiv Sena member of legislative council (MLC) Manisha Kayande on Saturday said that when one talks of Maharashtra's chief minister, only one person comes to mind and that is Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
The Mahayuti alliance of the BJP, Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar's NCP swept last year's assembly polls, winning 230 of the state's 288 seats. BJP's Devendra Fadnavis, who was Shinde's deputy earlier, became the CM.
'Wherever one goes in Maharashtra, whenever there is a discussion about the CM, only one face comes to mind, and that is Eknath Shinde. He has left such an impression,' she said.
Kayande was nominated as an MLC by the governor last year.
'Even if he is the deputy CM today, for the Shiv Sena, he is the CM and no one can deny this truth,' said Kayande.
Referring to Shinde's recent visits to Varanasi and Leh Ladakh, Kayande said he is not just restricted to Maharashtra but has now become a leader of national stature.
Many people are joining the Shiv Sena as they believe in his leadership. He not only gives speeches but also performs, unlike other leaders, Kayande added.

'I don't understand why there was such insistence on bringing in Hindi. Earlier, Hindi was taught from around Class 5 or 6, and that was acceptable. But why push it from Class 1 now? Hindi is not the national language. It is the language of one region. It cannot be imposed on other states,' Raj said while reacting strongly to the now-withdrawn three language policy of the Maharashtra government. On Sunday, on the eve of the Monsoon Session of the state legislature, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the withdrawal of government resolutions mandating the teaching of Hindi from Class 1 in schools. The move of introducing the three-language policy had drawn severe criticism from regional parties, civil society, and prominent Marathi figures.
