Shedeur Sanders endures new NFL humiliation at Cleveland Browns camp, months after shock Draft slide
Many NFL observers considered the former Colorado quarterback to be a nailed-on first round pick at the Draft this year - some even said he should be the first pick.
But after a tumultuous run-up to the event, where multiple teams took a dislike to Sanders' attitude, he slid all the way down to the fifth round before the Browns put him out of his misery by taking him with the 144th pick.
Fast forward to July, however, and the hard work is only just beginning for Sanders. As one of four quarterbacks on the roster - and the one ranked fourth on the depth chart - he has been a peripheral figure in the early days of Browns camp.
'I'm not even going to think about that or have that even in my thought process of why it is,' Sanders said about practicing with the third and fourth team this week.
'It doesn't make me feel down or it doesn´t make me feel left out or anything because I know who I am as a person. I know who I am as an individual, and I know what I could bring to this team.'
Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett have mainly split first team reps between them while Dillon Gabriel, a third-round pick at quarterback in the draft, also had one 11-on-11 drill.
Who will start at signal caller for the first game against Cincinnati Bengals on September 7 is uncertain but Sanders has acknowledged that it is unlikely to be him.
'I know whenever I get my opportunity, I´ve got to maximize it,' he said. 'I just got to think about what I could do to get better even if I´m not getting reps.'
His slide in the draft, combined with the fact he is the son of Deion Sanders - who coached him at Colorado - means there is a heightened sense of attention on the 23-year-old, something he insists will not hold him back.
The external is cool. I'm thankful for it,' he said. 'But hey, when I get out there, I´m not thinking about external.
'I'm thinking about more, in the organization, thinking about getting the play calls, executing my job, and doing what I´ve got to do.'
He made a promising start in Saturday's practice, going 3-for-3 in 7 vs 7 drills. And it remains to be seen if the Browns have four quarterbacks on the roster come the start of the season.
If injuries strike rival teams, they hold a potentially strong hand in trade talks. But for now, Sanders is adamant that he will climb the pecking order using his talent alone.

Report: Browns QB Kenny Pickett injured during practice
July 27 - Cleveland Browns quarterback Kenny Pickett reportedly went down with a hamstring injury during Saturday's training camp session, casting uncertainty over his early momentum in a crowded quarterback competition. Sources told ESPN that Pickett sustained the injury while rolling to his right and throwing a touchdown during the final red zone drill of the day. The severity of the injury remains unclear and the Browns reportedly expect to re-evaluate him later this week. Pickett had been making a strong case to become the Browns' starter, taking a majority of the first-team reps during the opening week of training camp. Browns quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave described his performance in the first two practices as "stellar," particularly praising his accuracy. Pickett's early success had seemingly put him ahead in the four-man competition, which includes veteran Joe Flacco and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. The injury now opens the door for the remaining quarterbacks to gain valuable reps. Flacco, entering his 18th NFL season, has rotated with Pickett throughout camp and brings veteran leadership to the position group. Gabriel, a third-round pick out of Oregon, has had limited time with the first team, while Sanders, a fifth-round pick from Colorado, has yet to take any first-team snaps. Pickett, a 2022 first-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers, was traded to the Browns in March by the Philadelphia Eagles. Cleveland gave up a fifth-round pick and young quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson in the deal. With the Browns declining his fifth-year option, Pickett is set to become a free agent after the 2025 season. --Field Level Media

Shirtless Tom Brady shows off ripped physique on yacht in Ibiza as NFL legend, 47, enjoys offseason vacation
Fox Sports analyst and seven-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Tom Brady was spotted enjoying himself in the sun off the coast of Spain. Brady was seen enjoying the rays and the waves on a yacht off the coast of the Spanish nightlife hotspot of Ibiza on Saturday. A shirtless Brady unknowingly flaunted his physique as he was seen with ripped muscles and wet hair on a gorgeous afternoon. On his Instagram story on Sunday, Brady showed a video of his friends jumping into a pool onboard the yacht while trying to dunk a basketball. Brady tagged entrepreneur Will Makris in the video. On Saturday, Makris shared a gallery of photos of himself along with Brady, the quarterback's son Jack, and Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin. The summer has been full of travels and relaxation for Brady as he prepares for another long football season. This time, it'll be his first full-season as a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Last year, Brady's purchase of a partial stake in the team was confirmed by NFL owners. The owners also put in guardrails to prevent the Fox Sports color commentator from gaining access to practices and privileged information that could help the Raiders. Earlier this month, Brady was spotted in the luxury box of President Donald Trump at MetLife Stadium for the Club World Cup Final between Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain. The NFL icon could be seen walking on the MetLife Stadium sideline before the game with Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Fanatics founder Michael Rubin. But he also made his way into Trump's suite at one point, with the Commander-in-Chief seen in the background of one photo as Brady had a conversation. Brady caused controversy in 2015 when a 'Make America Great Again' hat was spotted in his locker, and he later called Trump a 'good friend' during an appearance that year on WEEI. However, he declined to answer in a press conference when asked if he was in support of Trump's first run for office. In 2022, he told Variety that the pair hadn't spoken in 'a lot of years,' and that the nature of their relationship had been 'mischaracterized' by the media. Kraft, meanwhile, has said that he was previously a 'social friend' of Trump's and donated to his first inauguration. However, he revealed on The Breakfast Club last year that he had also ceased contact with the president. 'I will say this: I was very upset [with] what happened January 6,' Kraft said. 'And I haven't talked to him since then.'

Bubba Wallace wins Brickyard 400 to become Indy's first Black winner
Bubba Wallace became the first Black driver to win on Indianapolis Motor Speedway's 2.5-mile oval, surviving a late rain delay, two overtimes, concerns over running out of fuel and a hard-charging Kyle Larson on Sunday in the Brickyard 400. The third NASCAR Cup victory of Wallace's career was also his biggest. It snapped a 100-race winless streak that dated to 2022 at Kansas. He also won at Talladega in 2021. It's his first win at one of NASCAR's four crown jewel races. 'Unbelievable,' Wallace shouted on his radio after crossing the yard of bricks. And while the final gap was 0.222 seconds, he didn't reach victory lane without some consternation. Larson trailed by 5.057 seconds with 14 laps to go but the gap was down to about three seconds with six remaining when the yellow flag came out because of rain. The cars rolled to a stop on pit lane with four to go, giving Wallace about 20 additional minutes to think and rethink his restart strategy. But after beating Larson through the second turn, a crash behind the leaders forced a second overtime, extending the race even more laps as Wallace's team thought he might run out of gas. Wallace risked everything by staying on the track then beat the defending race winner off the restart again to prevent Larson from becoming the fourth back-to-back winner of the Brickyard. It also alleviated the frustration Wallace felt Saturday when he spent most of the qualifying session on the provisional pole only to see Chase Briscoe surpass with one of the last runs in the session. He made sure there was no repeat Sunday, giving an added boost to the 23XI Racing co-owned by basketball Hall of Famer Michael Jordan and last week's race winner, Denny Hamlin, as it continues to battle NASCAR in court over its charter status. ___
