Tottenham won the Europa League, they really won't care how
Winning the Europa League is huge for Tottenham. Last time they won a European trophy, Duran Duran were No.1 and last time they won anything, Archie Gray was not even two. Long story short… it's been a while.
The collective sigh of relief from everyone of a Lilywhite persuasion probably affected weather patterns. The ever-growing monkey they've been carrying like a malevolent backpack had reached King Kong proportions. It's now taken a metaphorical tumble from the Empire State and Spurs will feel a whole lot better for it.
With the dust still settling on the scrappy, scruffy win over Manchester United (and metaphorical monkey tumble), it's hard not to feel relieved for Spurs and pleased for the likes of Son Heung-min, unless you're Arsenal, West Ham or Chelsea, of course. Or United. Or one of their many other rivals. It'd be weird if you did.

But on a human level the white half of north London, who now even have a Spurs bus parade to enjoy, have suffered more than their share of embarrassments.
And while United have also had a stinker of a season they have won a bucketload of trophies since Ledley King lifted the League Cup in 2008. It feels potentially seismic for Tottenham in a way it wouldn't have for United, notwithstanding how significant it would have been for Ruben Amorim.

Intangibles aside, it helps with recruitment. Yes it's slightly farcical the team one place outside the drop zone is heading into the Champions League but them's the rules and everyone knew them at the start of the season. Being there makes a huge difference to their pulling power. More Trending
But it is the vagaries that could matter more in the long run. Getting over the line thanks to an untidy Johnson goal and surviving a couple of big scares is decidedly un-Spursy.
The whole point of cup finals is to win them and when your recent record in them is as poor as Tottenham's, that really was all that mattered this week.
Postecoglou spoke straight after the game about the belief the club can take from getting their hands on a trophy and how the unquenched thirst for silverware had made it too easy for everyone to take potshots at them.
Could this herald a new era for Spurs? Will Ange even be there to usher it in? Hard to say. But a win's a win and Spurs fans I know don't give a metaphorical monkeys how scruffily it was achieved.

Tottenham 2 Wycombe 2: Strong Spurs side come from behind to salvage draw against League One opposition
TOTTENHAM Hotspur's pre-season preparations continued with a 2-2 draw against League One side Wycombe Wanderers at the club's Enfield training ground. Spurs were forced to come from behind after a costly error from goalkeeper Brandon Austin but Pape Sarr's brace ensured the game ended all square. 6 Pape Sarr pictured right scored twice to rescue a draw for Spurs Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 6 Tottenham captain Son Heung-min had more pre-season minutes in the game Credit: Shutterstock Editorial 6 Thomas Frank's team will play two games within four hours Credit: Shutterstock Editorial Thomas Frank's side had the early advantage in the 15th minute. Wilson Odobert, one of the standout performers in the opening exchanges, cut in from the right and unleashed a shot from just outside the box. Wycombe goalkeeper Mikki van Sas parried the effort only for the ball to spill into the path of Pape Sarr who calmly slotted home for a 1-0 lead. It was a promising start for Spurs, who looked comfortable with their mix of first-team regulars and exciting newcomers. Odobert in particular had been lively on the right flank, showing glimpses of the flair that has caught the eye in pre-season. However, Spurs' momentum was stunted in the 34th minute when a mistake from Austin allowed Wycombe to equalise. A well-timed run by Wycombe's Junior Quitirna forced a shot on the edge of the box and although Austin initially got a hand to it, the ball squirmed under him and trickled into the net. Tottenham had dominated possession in the first half but were punished for Austin's blunder, leaving the game level at the break. The second half started with more fireworks. Just five minutes after the break, Wycombe took the lead with a clinical strike from their winger, Quitirna. The goal left Spurs with work to do, but they responded well to the setback. Odobert continued to impress down the right, and Richarlison, Son, and Sarr all combined to create chances in the final third. Thomas Frank has held his first press conference as Tottenham manager - what did we learn? Tottenham's persistence paid off in the 66th minute when Pape Sarr rose to the occasion once again. A well-timed run from midfield saw Sarr who wen't past his marker before finding himself unmarked in finished confidently past van Sas to draw Spurs level at 2-2. Despite some late pressure from both sides, neither team could find a winner. It was a case of two steps forward and one step back for Spurs, as they were unable to put Wycombe away despite a strong second-half performance. England fans face fines of up to £500 for wearing football shirts in Spain
The Lionesses face Spain in the final of Euro 2025 on Sunday and fans who are on holiday in Spain have been warned they could be fined if they wear an England top England fans on holiday in Spain have been warned they could face fines of £500 if they put on Lionesses shirts to support the team at Euro 2025. Three Lions supporters getting behind the team could be hit hard in the pocket if they break new public rules which have come into force in some parts of Spain. Tourists have been met with protests in many holiday hotspots in the country with locals angry about the impact on their lives by so many visitors and now you could be fined for wearing unsuitable clothes in locations such as in Majorca. The Lionesses will have the chance to win back-to-back European titles when they play Spain in the final in Switzerland tomorrow. One Sure Insurance has issued the warning, and a spokesperson said: 'We are seeing increasing numbers of British tourists head to their holiday destinations to enjoy matches in the sun. This has meant increasing bans on specific clothing items including football shirts and novelty wear to promote a more respectful environment. 'Majorca has seen multiple restaurants targeting clothes associated with drunken tourism. We've also seen that wearing just a bikini or being bare chested with swimming shorts away from the beach could land tourists fines of up to £500 in various locations.' It comes as drivers have been warned about flags and emblems during the Euros as unsafe attachments could land them with a hefty fine in the UK, reported BirminghamLive. Wrongly attached flags and decorations could be considered an obstruction. Officers can slap drivers with a £300 fine on the spot for an unsecured load, and it could lead to a court appearance where penalties can reach up to £2,500. Regulation 30 of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations says: "Every motor vehicle shall be so designed and constructed that the driver thereof while controlling the vehicle can at all times have a full view of the road and traffic ahead of the motor vehicle." The government guidance from 2010 set out: "It is not a specific offence to fly a flag on a vehicle and the majority of vehicle flags currently on sale are legal, provided they are fitted to the vehicle in a sensible manner. "However, it is worth noting the following points: flags which are so large that they obscure the driver's view of traffic ahead of the vehicle may contravene Regulation 30 of The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986. "Flags which are constructed or positioned in such a way that they can cause danger to pedestrians or other road users could contravene Regulations 53 or 100 of the above regulations."
