Tottenham won the Europa League, they really won't care how
Winning the Europa League is huge for Tottenham. Last time they won a European trophy, Duran Duran were No.1 and last time they won anything, Archie Gray was not even two. Long story short… it's been a while.
The collective sigh of relief from everyone of a Lilywhite persuasion probably affected weather patterns. The ever-growing monkey they've been carrying like a malevolent backpack had reached King Kong proportions. It's now taken a metaphorical tumble from the Empire State and Spurs will feel a whole lot better for it.
With the dust still settling on the scrappy, scruffy win over Manchester United (and metaphorical monkey tumble), it's hard not to feel relieved for Spurs and pleased for the likes of Son Heung-min, unless you're Arsenal, West Ham or Chelsea, of course. Or United. Or one of their many other rivals. It'd be weird if you did.

But on a human level the white half of north London, who now even have a Spurs bus parade to enjoy, have suffered more than their share of embarrassments.
And while United have also had a stinker of a season they have won a bucketload of trophies since Ledley King lifted the League Cup in 2008. It feels potentially seismic for Tottenham in a way it wouldn't have for United, notwithstanding how significant it would have been for Ruben Amorim.

Intangibles aside, it helps with recruitment. Yes it's slightly farcical the team one place outside the drop zone is heading into the Champions League but them's the rules and everyone knew them at the start of the season. Being there makes a huge difference to their pulling power. More Trending
But it is the vagaries that could matter more in the long run. Getting over the line thanks to an untidy Johnson goal and surviving a couple of big scares is decidedly un-Spursy.
The whole point of cup finals is to win them and when your recent record in them is as poor as Tottenham's, that really was all that mattered this week.
Postecoglou spoke straight after the game about the belief the club can take from getting their hands on a trophy and how the unquenched thirst for silverware had made it too easy for everyone to take potshots at them.
Could this herald a new era for Spurs? Will Ange even be there to usher it in? Hard to say. But a win's a win and Spurs fans I know don't give a metaphorical monkeys how scruffily it was achieved.

Man Utd transfer news: Star considers exit as Old Trafford stance on new striker emerges
Manchester United still have work to do in the transfer market with a number of sales to make before they can add new players for Ruben Amorim with weeks remaining of the transfer window Just three weeks remain until the start of the Premier League season as Ruben Amorim shapes his new squad. The Red Devils are looking to bounce back from a disappointing season that saw a 15th place finish in the top-flight. United have added Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon in time for their tour of the United States. The Red Devils have replenished their forward line in their bid to solve goalscoring issues but are yet to add a true striker to their squad. United have been linked to the likes of Ollie Watkins and Benjamin Sesko as the club continue to monitor opportunities. But exits may be required before another deal is done in the north west. Marcus Rashford has finally departed but just on loan and United will hope for transfer fees to bolster their kitty for the final weeks. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia are all up for sale but yet to find new clubs this summer. Star considers exit Luke Shaw is 'ready to quit' Manchester United and willing to listen to offers from other clubs. The 30-year-old defender is reported to be aware of 'serious' interest from Saudi Arabia and mulling a departure in the coming months. Shaw is said to understand that his decade-long United career could be coming to an end with competition in his position from new additions Patrick Dorgu and Diego Leon. Amorim is said to be in no rush to lose Shaw however, despite the injury-plagued star's £150,000-a-week wages. New suitors Two clubs from the Saudi Pro League are interested in signing Antony from Manchester United. The Brazilian winger has been left out of United's pre-season tour squad having spent the second half of last season on loan at Real Betis. The La Liga side have yet to agree a deal for the former Ajax star who impressed in La Liga last term. United want to seal a permanent exit and transfer fee for the player, with Betis thus far unwilling to make an offer that meets United's demands. Antony has also been linked too Erik ten Hag's new side Bayer Leverkusen. The Dutch coach pushed back on the chance of a move however, and said: "We're not interested in him at the moment, but we'll see what happens in the future." Stance on a new striker An imminent move for a striker is not expected from Manchester United after signing Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, per the Manchester Evening News. The Red Devils have been linked with signing a new out-and-out forward but have thus far not seen progress with sales required to bolster their transfer funds. The club's plans were stalled when Liam Delap chose to sign for Chelsea instead of moving to Old Trafford. Nevertheless, Ruben Amorim is pleased with how his squad is shaping up. United have not ruled out a move for a new goalscorer however and are assessing what is feasible in the coming weeks. Sales are said to be 'essential' despite being provided some financial headroom by Marcus Rashford's loan move.

How much Son Heung-min's 'K Factor' is really worth to Tottenham: The enormous value of South Korean fandom, what Spurs lose if he completes Los Angeles switch - and the US jackpot they can finally seize
On Easter Monday came a glimpse for Tottenham into something they haven't had for a decade: a future without . Nottingham Forest were visiting and Spurs had by this stage of the campaign surrendered hope in all but the Europa League, but there was another reason for an unusual number of empty seats and it was not lost on those in the boardroom.

Ruben Amorim says Manchester United will not let players go cheaply
Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia were left out of the tour of the United States – Marcus Rashford subsequently went on loan to Barcelona – and the so-called 'bomb squad' have been training at the club's Carrington complex. United's transfer dealings have been widely criticised in recent seasons and Amorim said chief executive Omar Berrada and sporting director Jason Wilcox would not be taken advantage of just to get rid of those surplus to requirements. 'Some players have to find a new place to have more space in the team and others clearly show they want a new challenge and want new teams,' Amorim told a press conference ahead of the the Premier League Summer Series game against West Ham on Saturday. 'We are just allowing these players to have time to think and to decide. If we reach a point where they have to join the team, they will join the team because they are our players. 'I know for a fact that these people, Omar and Jason, and the club have a number (price) for these players. If they don't reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that. 'I understand clubs are maybe waiting for the last minute, but they can have a surprise and I'm ready. I'm ready to receive the players. 'They have more competition – if you want to play in the World Cup you need to play, so I'm really happy with that because I have more options. If they have to fight each other to play, for me it is perfect.' United have spent about £130million on Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Diego Leon but are still in the market for a defensive midfielder and a striker. However, previous mis-steps on transfers mean United are being more circumspect this summer. 'At the moment, our club needs to be really careful when we sign a player,' added Amorim. 'So if we have to start the season with this squad, I'm happy because all the players that are here want to be here – and that for me is the most important thing.'
