Tailor Delighted After Winning RM1 Mln BSN SSP Lucky Draw
Roswani expressed her surprise at receiving a call from a BSN officer on the fourth day of Aidilfitri on April 3 informing her that she had won RM1 million in the draw.
'Initially I couldn't believe it, but the officer tried to convince me and asked me to come to the BSN office. Alhamdulillah, it was really true that I had been picked. I will continue to save my winnings in the BSN SSP account as I want to increase my savings for the future,' she told reporters here today.
She related that she has saved money in her BSN account for over 20 years, but only began saving in the BSN SSP since three years ago for a more secure future.
'Saving in BSN SSP made me more disciplined. If I save in a normal account, it's easy to withdraw the money. But saving in BSN SSP, we need to be more careful as the intention is to save for the long term.
'The source of my savings comes from what I earn from tailoring and also the money I saved when I worked as a salesperson at a boutique. Sometimes I save RM100 a month, sometimes more,' she said.
Roswani plans to donate some of her winnings to charity and take her siblings on Umrah as well.
'I'm very grateful and thankful to BSN for giving this opportunity to people who wish to save. My advice is to continue to save consistently as there are opportunities and it is for the future,' she added.

'I've told Minister Tengku Zafrul to continue publishing the relevant data and highlight the locations of operating plants — in Kulim, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah and the Klang Valley,' he added. Median wages in the sector also rose by 5.4% to RM2,745, up from RM2,600 last year, aligning with the new minimum wage policy of RM1,700. Anwar also reported that since the establishment of the Invest Malaysia Facilitation Centre (IMFC) in December 2023, a total of 28,166 investor applications have been facilitated with a resolution rate of 99.9%. Johor Bahru bus drivers strike disrupts Singapore commute
JOHOR BAHRU: Private employee Saiful Umar, 37, was among thousands caught off guard when around 100 Malaysian bus drivers operating to Singapore suddenly went on strike early this morning at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI). 'I was shocked, there was no information at all (on a strike),' he said. Passengers arriving as early as 5 am found no bus services, forcing some to walk one to two kilometres across the Johor Causeway to reach workplaces in Singapore. Saiful, who had to walk nearly two kilometres to Woodlands before getting a ride back to Tampoi, expressed frustration over the lack of prior notice. 'This situation is not only inconvenient but also affects our work and image,' he told Bernama. A viral video showed crowds at BSI at 5.30 am due to the halted bus services. Reports suggest the strike stemmed from drivers' dissatisfaction over salary adjustments and allowance cuts, allegedly reducing their monthly pay from RM2,800-RM2,900 to below RM2,000. Another passenger, K. Ramesh, 40, called the situation 'ridiculous,' urging the bus company to resolve the issue swiftly. 'This affects our daily routine and careers,' he said. Sarawak unity drives sustainable growth towards 2030 vision
KUCHING: The unity of Sarawak's diverse communities remains the cornerstone of the state's progress as it advances towards becoming a high-income and developed region by 2030, said Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg. Marking Sarawak Day 2025 under the theme 'Sarawak Maju Makmur' (Progressive and Prosperous Sarawak), he emphasised the state's commitment to inclusive growth through the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030. 'The Sarawak government will continue implementing PCDS 2030 to ensure socio-economic prosperity for all,' he stated in a Facebook post by the Office of the Premier. The Premier also outlined key focus areas, including digital economy expansion, AI adoption, and sustainable environmental practices.
