Firing incident: Case lodged against SAP jawan in Bhojpur

Ara: Following the death of one Sushil Yadav (45) in alleged firing by prohibition and excise department team of Jagdishpur, an FIR was lodged on Monday with Shahpur police station against a SAP jawan Arvind Kumar.
"An FIR was lodged by the family members of Sushil of Shahpur nagar panchayat ward no. 3 with Shahpur police station against SAP jawan Arvind who has been made accused along with the prohibition and excise team," said Shahpur PS station house officer (SHO), Kumar Rajnikant, on Monday.
Following the firing incident, the SAP jawan was held captive by the angry villagers and thrashed badly. "The SAP jawan was freed after the intervention of the senior police and excise department officials as well as the local representatives," said Jagdishpur SDPO Rajesh Kumar Sharma.
The SAP jawan, who is undergoing treatment at the Sadar Hospital Ara, said: "When stone pelting started, my senior, an ASI, told me that I can open fire in the air in my self-defence. However, when I was going to fire the second shot in the air, suddenly someone hit my head with something and the trigger was pressed accidentally. The villagers held me hostage for many hours and beat me up badly."
The villagers, who had blocked the Ara-Buxar road on Sunday night near Shahpur police station mor by placing the body in the middle of the road, alleged that the prohibition and excise team conducted the raid in Shahpur village without informing the local police station.

Jagdishpur SDPO and Shahpur SHO admitted that the excise team did not inform local police. The SDPO said, as per the rules, it is necessary to inform local police station before the excise raid. "A probe will be conducted into why the rules were not followed," he said.
Meanwhile, for Sushil's family, tragedy has come not once but twice in quick succession. His daughter Kiran Kumari said: "Only 20 days back my mother Sundari Devi had died. Hardly we had overcome the tragedy, when my father died in the police firing. Just a few minutes before his death, I had called my father on the phone and asked him to come home for dinner as the weather was inclement. He said that he would reach home within half an hour from his shop where he sold litti chokha.

The ED has probed into the case linked to a land deal in Haryana's Manesar-Shikohpur (now sector 83) in Gurugram. The deal was made by Skylight Hospitality Pvt Ltd , for which Vadra was a director in February 2008. It purchased 3.5 acre of land in Shikohpur from Onkareshwar Properties at a price of Rs 7.5 crore. The plot was mutated in favour of Skylight the next day and the title of the land was reportedly transferred to Vadra within 24 hours. About four years later, in September 2012, the company sold the land to realty major DLF for Rs 58 crore. At the time, Haryana was governed by the Congress party led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Vadra has denied wrongdoing and has said the case was a " political vendetta " against him and his family that comprises former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi.
