Bride reveals bizarre honeymoon request from her in-laws as people say it's 'a huge red flag'
Taking to Reddit, the 22-year-old woman - believed to be from the US - revealed she is due to marry her long-term boyfriend, 24, and lives with him on a sprawling 40-acre property.
She said the couple are close to his parents and often go over to their house for dinner and games nights.
However, her fiancé's parents have taken their relationship with their son and daughter-in-law a step too far after they insisted on joining them on their honeymoon.
The couple, who are due to marry in November, have already planned a low-key wedding on a separate family-owned estate and decided to stay an extra week after the ceremony to enjoy some alone time.
But when she discovered her future in-laws were quietly planning to crash her honeymoon, she was stunned.
She wrote: 'When we go on vacation, his parents come with us. Lately it seems excessive, but I keep it to myself.
'We're getting married in November on another property that my boyfriend, his sister, and their parents own together.
'There's plenty of space for both our families and friends, and everyone is leaving the day after the wedding so we can honeymoon for a week there. That is, everyone except his parents.'
While the young bride revealed she loves her future in-laws 'like her own parents', she expressed her concern to her future husband and requested him to ask his parents to leave after the wedding.
But rather than supporting her, the groom-to-be shut her down entirely, saying 'it wasn't a big deal'.
The bride said: 'I told him it was weird and I wanted it to just be us. He suggested we could honeymoon somewhere else at a later date, but still spend the week after the wedding with his parents.
'I told him no because I have limited PTO (Paid Time Off), we planned on honeymooning there ALONE, we're trying to save money, and I don't want to be the couple that never ends up having a honeymoon cause they keep saying they'll have it later.'
Her husband-to-be claimed he will not be asking his parents to leave as they are 'part owners of the estate'.
The bride claimed she wanted to start 'setting boundaries' with his parents and family.
She added: 'He said he didn't understand why I was so emotional about this (mind you I wasn't emotional till he said that).
'Once he said that, I stopped talking cause I felt invalidated and I didn't want to get emotional and prove him right.
'He's refusing to discuss it anymore and it's making me wonder if I crossed a line by telling him he needs to set boundaries with his parents. So AITA?'
Reddit users were quick to defend the bride in the comments, calling the situation a 'huge red flag' and urged her to reconsider the wedding if her boundaries continued to be dismissed.
One person said: 'This is a red flag they will always be two extras in your marriage and you will NEVER be a COUPLE.
'God forbid you should have children! This is a boundary I would really think about believe me, been there done that, like Princess Diana, there were three in my marriage only no mistress just my MIL and she was awful!! Don't do this to yourself! Life is way too short.'
Another added: 'If OP marries this guy, she will spend her entire life either with her in-laws, or arguing with her "husband" about her in-laws. He isn't mature enough to be married as he is still his parent's child.'
Someone else agreed saying: 'This is gonna be the rest of their life: she, him and his parents. When they're having kids, they're gonna be there during the birth too.'
A fourth quipped: 'Birth?? They're gonna be there while they're making them.'
However, others claimed the parents have a right to stay in the property after the wedding because they own it and suggested the couple go elsewhere for their honeymoon.
One person said: 'Have your honeymoon somewhere else. It's shared property so you can't ask them to leave.
'You might also risk your good relationship with them. If they don't have the sense to let you two be alone, then either you save your money and have your honeymoon with the parents or you spend a little and have the privacy you need. Your bf is the AH for being overly clingy with his parents.'
Another added: 'OP is getting married at a property her in laws jointly own with her husband and his sister. OP needs to go somewhere separate for her honeymoon imo.'
Someone else added: 'Honeymoon means not staying on your in-laws property. You aren't going on a honeymoon.
'You just want your in-laws to leave a property that they partly own. Figure out a way to go somewhere cheap. Can you go camping? It's not ideal, but it's away from home.'

I thought Bonnie Blue's stunts were the depths of depravity. But the Lil Tay controversy has shocked me to my core... how could a once innocent child quite literally sell her soul: AMANDA PLATELL
Just who is Lil Tay? That was my first question on Sunday when I saw social media reports that the 'influencer' had launched an account on adult content site OnlyFans just one minute after allegedly turning 18 – and made more than $1million in just three hours. Even for Lil Tay's 'fans' – who have followed the US-Canadian rapper and self-styled 'influencer' since she posted her first YouTube video in 2018 – surely it was enough to make anyone sit up in astonishment.
