AirPods get studio-quality audio recording and camera remote features
Studio-quality audio recording lets interviewers, podcasters, singers, and other creators record their content with better sound quality, even while on the go or in noisy places with the help of Voice Isolation.
Apple also promises "more natural vocal texture and clarity" across iPhone calls, FaceTime, and CallKit-enabled apps. Studio-quality audio recording and improved call quality work when you're connected to an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. This also supports the Camera app, Voice Memos, dictation in Messages, video conferencing apps like Webex, and "compatible third-party camera apps".
And then there's camera remote. While using the Camera app or a compatible third-party camera app on your iPhone or iPad, you can press and hold the AirPods stem to take a photo or start a video recording, then press-and-hold again to stop the recording.
These features will be available through the Apple Beta Software Program next month, and will be part of iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26.

Nothing Phone (3) in for review
We did a quick hands-on with the Nothing Phone (3) at its unveiling, but now we have the retail unit in the office and ready for review! So let's unbox it! The Nothing Phone (3) ships with a USB cable, a SIM ejector tool, and a transparent case. The phone comes in black and white colors. The 12/256 GB version will retail for $799/€799/£799/₹79,999, while the 16/512 GB model is going for $899/€899/£899/₹89,999. We've talked about the design of the Phone (3), but it's so polarizing that it brings itself up during office conversations. You either love it or you hate it - there's no middle ground. Some find it insufferable. Others find it so different that, coupled with the unique software, they call the combo a reason alone to get the Nothing Phone (3). What do you guys think? The Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 plus 16GB of RAM is a powerful combo, but Nothing's Android 15-based OS is so polished that things run a touch smoother than some other Android-based OSes. There's just a layer of smoothness that's evident once you start using the Nothing Phone (3). It's not just looks and zippiness, however. Nothing has added some smart touches to its OS, like the Smart App Drawer, which uses AI to group apps into categories. It's similar to the iPhone's App Library. When you connect a USB cable, the Phone (3) makes a high-tech sound, and a light grid quickly flashes from the bottom of the screen upwards. Locking the phone does a fade to black that gradually moves through the screen in the direction of the power button. Subtle, but very nice touches. Smart App Drawer, similar to the iPhone's App Library Then there's the camera app. It has presets with different styles. There's a B&W Film preset that shoots 50mm images with strong contrast. The Lenticular preset applies a lenticular filter to everything you capture - it achieves images similar to Nothing's preloaded wallpapers for its phones. The style is truly unique. An innovative camera app Here are a few samples. Sadly, the presets only work with the rear-facing cameras. Different camera presets Nothing Phone (3) 5G

Meta poaches key AI executive from Apple
Apple is probably the one major tech firm that cannot afford to lose any one of its top AI executives. After all, the tech giant has failed to keep pace with the AI progress achieved by its rivals, such as Samsung, Meta, and Google. However, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, citing people with knowledge of this move, says that Apple is losing one of its engineers and the manager in charge of its AI foundation models (AFM) team. A foundation model is a large, general-purpose AI model that is trained to handle a wide range of tasks. Developers often start building a new AI model by using a foundation model instead of building a new AI model for each application from scratch. The Apple executive leaving the company is Ruoming Pang, who joined Apple from Alphabet in 2021. Pang is departing Apple and is heading for Meta to join its superintelligence team. These teams make sure that highly-intelligent AI systems are safe and beneficial to humanity. The people with knowledge of Pang's move to Meta say that he was offered a contract that will pay him tens of millions of dollars annually. And that wasn't the only new AI hire that Meta picked up today. OpenAI researcher Yuanzhi Li and Anton Bakhtin are also joining Meta. Bakhtin has been working at Anthropic PBC on Claude. The latter is a series of large language models (LLMs) created to be a helpful, honest, and harmless AI assistant. It does this to find a balance between capability and ethical considerations. While at Apple, Pang ran a team of 100 people. This team was responsible for Apple's LLM used for Apple Intelligence and other AI features available on Apple devices. Just last month, Apple announced that it is opening up these models to third-party-developers which should result in a number of new apps for iPhone and iPad users. Pang's team at Apple has had to deal with friction from some executives at Apple who want to use third-party models from OpenAI or Anthropic to power an improved version of Siri. It appears that a new version of Siri, something that Apple desperately needs, will use models developed by either the AFM team that Pang worked with, or third-party models. More members of Apple's AFM team are expected to leave Apple, especially with Meta paying engineers a lot more than Apple pays its engineers doing the same work. The AFM team at Apple will now be run by Zhifeng Chen. Craig Federighi, Apple's head of software engineering, and Mike Rockwell, who now leads engineering for Siri, are currently the ones planning Apple's AI strategy. While it confirms that the basemay have 128GB and 256GB versions, and theXL, andmight have options for up to 1TB storage, the leak also reveals a weird color limitations. If the information is true, Google may only offer certain storage options for models in specific the detailed list of everymodel, color, and storage option:On top of the color limitations, this information also suggests that there might be a 128GB version of theXL. However, this part of the leak is at odds with everything we've heard about theseries before, so it might be a good idea to take it with a grain of new information about the colors of the Pixel Buds 2a is also conflicting. The leak claims that they'll come in the following three colors:All those colors were mentioned before, but according to earlier claims, the Pixel Buds 2a may be released in four get a confirmation on any of those leaks, we'll have to wait a little longer. Theseries and all its accessories are expected to launch sometime in August, and challenge the current Galaxy S25 and the upcoming iPhone 17 I think Google's idea to limit the biggest storage options only to specific colors of themight not be so bad. That could make some colors feel like a premium version, and I personally know many people who'd like to have that.
