NEC Nijmegen string-puller set for difficult contract decision
Initially, Director Carlos Aalbers was hoping for a quick agreement with Proper at the beginning of July. 'We're in talks and we'll see what comes of it,' the NEC man responded to the Gelderlander cameras. He acknowledged that a contract extension isn't an easy decision.

'Sooner or later, of course, someone wants to make a move, and you have to take that into account. I think NEC are a fantastic club, and that will always be the case, but as a player, you only have a certain time in your career, and at some point you have to make sure you make a move,' Proper continues about his considerations.
'NEC have a vested interest in that, too. They want to keep me to make money off me. That's their right. And if I may describe my ideal situation, that's naturally what you'd prefer.'
Proper admits it's a real dilemma. 'You can ask anyone with a contract in its final year. These are things you think about, and that's really difficult, that decision. I can't say much about that. These are things I have to discuss with Carlos and see if we can find a solution.'
Proper remains quiet about interest from other clubs. 'I'm not making any statements about that either,' he laughs. The midfielder suffered a concussion at the end of last season, causing him to miss the European Championship with the Dutch U21s. He has since recovered.

Everton eye Southampton winger Tyler Dibling
Everton have turned to Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, looking to bolster their attack this summer. Per the Times, after missing out on Francesco Trincao, Johan Bakayoko and struggling to clinch a deal for Takefusa Kubo, the Toffees are showing interest in Dibling. The teenager caught the eye last season, impressing for the Saints despite their relegation to the Championship. He showed glimpses of his ability, prompting many to believe he will return to the top flight. Sky Sports wrote of Dibling: 'The teenager looks absolutely fearless on the ball and is capable of moments of magic.' Dibling bagged four goals and three assists in 38 appearances. Also, he has so much room for growth that several clubs are willing to take the punt on him. RB Leipzig and Tottenham Hotspur were keen on his services, but Everton have now entered the race. However, his price tag could prove a stumbling block for Everton. The Saints quoted suitors £55 million even though many felt they would drop that demand upon relegation. Everton spent big on Charly Alcaraz, Thierno Barry, and Mark Travers, but there are still holes to plug in the midfield and attack. The left-back position could also use reinforcement, with Bayern Munich ace Adam Aznou of interest to Merseyside club. The Toffees cannot spend it all recruiting Dibling. With Southampton demanding a high figure for Dibling, Everton should consider a move for Strasbourg winger Dilane Bakwa (View). Bakwa is cheaper, more robust physically, and ready to make an immediate impact in the Premier League. He also produces better numbers. Besides, Bakwa can shift into midfield and has covered at wing-back due to his ability to get up and down the right flank. Bakwa bagged six goals and eight assists to help Strasbourg qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League and will be a stellar pick-up for Everton if Dibling proves too expensive.

Arsenal ramp up Eberechi Eze interest after Viktor Gyokeres transfer
'Arsenal are aiming to swiftly move' to sign Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze this summer after wrapping up a deal for Viktor Gyokeres, according to The Independent. Per the reports, Eze made Arsenal his top choice, and those close to him believe 'a deal will be done in the next few weeks.' Arsenal are looking for reinforcement on the flanks, and Eze fits the bill, having spearheaded Palace to a mid-table Premier League finish and an FA Cup win. Eze bagged 14 goals and 11 assists in 43 appearances, including the goal in the final to seal the cup for the Eagles, catching the eyes of suitors like Arsenal. The Gunners need strengthening on that left flank after an underwhelming campaign from Gabriel Martinelli, who failed to hit the heights of his 2022/23 campaign. Leandro Trossard has come up with some big moments for Arsenal, but the Gunners could use an upgrade as they bid to end their 21-year wait for a Premier League title. Arsenal faltered last term as they did not have enough options when key players like Bukayo Saka were injured. Manager Mikel Arteta and Sporting Director Andrea Berta have moved to plug that problem. The UEFA Champions League semi-finalists have recruited Noni Madueke to provide competition for Saka on the right side. Eze will most likely do the same or even usurp the opposite flank. Arsenal reportedly want to sign Eze for around £60 million, less than his reported £68 million release clause. They also want to pay in three instalments of £20 million and possibly insert Reiss Nelson to sweeten the deal. Eze could become Arsenal's seventh signing of a busy summer. The North Londoners have added Martin Zubimendi, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Madueke, Cristhian Mosquera, Christian Norgaard, and Gyokeres. The latter is undergoing a medical before signing on the dotted line.
