NEC Nijmegen string-puller set for difficult contract decision
Initially, Director Carlos Aalbers was hoping for a quick agreement with Proper at the beginning of July. 'We're in talks and we'll see what comes of it,' the NEC man responded to the Gelderlander cameras. He acknowledged that a contract extension isn't an easy decision.

'Sooner or later, of course, someone wants to make a move, and you have to take that into account. I think NEC are a fantastic club, and that will always be the case, but as a player, you only have a certain time in your career, and at some point you have to make sure you make a move,' Proper continues about his considerations.
'NEC have a vested interest in that, too. They want to keep me to make money off me. That's their right. And if I may describe my ideal situation, that's naturally what you'd prefer.'
Proper admits it's a real dilemma. 'You can ask anyone with a contract in its final year. These are things you think about, and that's really difficult, that decision. I can't say much about that. These are things I have to discuss with Carlos and see if we can find a solution.'
Proper remains quiet about interest from other clubs. 'I'm not making any statements about that either,' he laughs. The midfielder suffered a concussion at the end of last season, causing him to miss the European Championship with the Dutch U21s. He has since recovered.

Augsburg sell Dion Drena Beljo to Zagreb
Croatian striker Dion Drena Beljo's time in the Bundesliga has officially drawn to a close. Augsburg officially confirmed the sale Beljo to Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday evening. Both clubs agreed not to divulge the terms of the transfer, but earlier reports suggested that Augsburg pocketed a €5m transfer fee while negotiating an additional €2.5m in bonuses. Beljo departs German football having scored only five goals in 45 competitive appearances for the Fuggerstädter. Beljo joined Augsburg on a €3m deal from NK Osijek in the January 2023 transfer window. All five of his top flight goals came under previous FCA head coach Enrico Maaßen that spring and earlier the following year. After taking over for Maaßen in the autumn of 2023, Jess Thorup had no use for Beljo and he was loaned out to Rapid Vienna in the Austrian Bundesliga last year. A decent season on loan in the Austrian capital (16 goals across all competitions) did actually lead to new FCA head coach Sandro Wagner to attempt and convince Beljo to remain. 'After his loan spell at Rapid Vienna, we laid out an FCA future for Dion at the start of pre-season and held several talks with him,' Augsburg managing director Michael Ströll noted in a club statement. 'He nevertheless expressed his desire to return to his home country. After constructive talks with Zagreb, we were able to find a solution that suits all parties and have acceded to his transfer request.' 'I would like to thank those responsible at FCA for making my move to Zagreb possible,' the player himself added. 'A new chapter is beginning for me at Dinamo Zagreb and I am delighted to be back home.' GGFN | Peter Weis

Report – Inter Milan Earmark Atalanta Star As Top Midfield Target & Brace Up For Several Departures
Atalanta star Ederson has become a genuine target for Inter Milan as the Serie A runners-up prepare for a midfield overhaul. Per Gazzetta dello Sport via FCInterNews, the San Siro giants are ready to go all-out to sign the Brazilian. However, he could be the marquee arrival, especially considering Atalanta won't let him leave for less than €60 million. Therefore, Inter must complete some sales to raise funds. Inter Milan Identify Atalanta Ace Ederson as Top Midfield Target Despite already signing four players, Inter will not put the brakes on their summer spending. Instead, the Nerazzurri will invest hugely to lure Ederson to San Siro. But first, they must offload several players. Indeed, they've put Sebastiano Esposito, Kristjan Asllani, and Aleksandar Stankovic up for sale. Furthermore, Yann Bisseck could still leave Serie A amid growing interest from the Premier League. Then, there's the Denzel Dumfries case. The Dutchman's €30m release clause expires in mid-July. As such, Inter could still lose their standout wingback. Finally, Benjamin Pavard's future hangs in the balance, though he's closer to staying than departing.
