Augusta National, TGR Foundation partner to bring Tiger Woods Learning Lab to Augusta
The partnership was revealed in a Monday afternoon press conference at Augusta National by Augusta National chairman Fred Ridley along with Richmond County Board of Education president Shawnda Stovall and RCSS Interim Superintendent Dr. Malinda Cobb along with Jill Brown of .
Ridley said Woods was originally scheduled to be present in person but could not because of the achilles injury that sidelined him from competition. Woods did leave a pre-recorded statement regarding his partnership.
What an honor to be here and to have this moment to be a part of Augusta National, but just in a different way,' Woods said. 'To have the ability to design something that will impact the community.'
The TGR Learning Lab will be the fourth of its kind. Woods opened the flagship lab in Anaheim, California in 2006. A second lab opened in Philadelphia in partnership with Cobbs Creek Golf Club and the Cobbs Creek Foundation. It will be located at the former Lamar Elementary School in the Harrisburg community. Chairman Ridley said that 2028 was a target date for completion.
There's also another site being planned for Los Angeles.
The announcement was made in conjunction with an announcement that Tiger Woods will take the lead in re-desigining the short course called The Patch, also known as the Augusta Municipal Golf Course. Ridley said the planned timeline for completion will be in time with The 90th Masters in 2026.
When the Philadelphia lab opened, Woods declared it to be a fusion of the two things he loves most.
'It combines my passion for supporting youth through education and golf,' Woods said in . 'At the Learning Lab, we will provide opportunities for thousands of kids to learn, grow and chase after their dreams for many years to come.'
The Philadelphia lab is a 30,000 square-foot facility with nine classrooms, a multi-purpose room, music recording room, podcast studio and a Full Swing golf simulator. The first location in Anaheim 'has served more than 200,000 students' according to the pgatour.com article, and at its inception, the Philadelphia lab was expected to serve more than 4,500 students annually.
Augusta's learning lab should be a boon for the Richmond County School System's approximately 30,000 students.
This is a developing story that will update throughout the day.

Tiger Woods' son Charlie finishes top 10 at Junior PGA Championship in West Lafayette
WEST LAFAYETTE — Charlie Woods entered the Junior PGA Championship and started slow, just cracking the top 50 on Tuesday at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette. Woods would prove to doubters, if there were any, that he could hold his own on the big stage just over a week after being cut in the U.S. Amateur Championship in Dallas. While the final result wasn't what Woods had desired on Friday, it still sends a message that golf's famous teenager could play the sport at an elite level. Woods finished the Junior PGA Championship 9-under-par and tied for ninth after shooting a 74 on Friday afternoon. More coverage: Purdue commit Sam Carraher embraces attention with Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods His top nine finish gives him an automatic invite to next year's Junior PGA Tournament at Fields Range in Frisco, Texas. Woods also has a chance to be a captain's pick for the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup team which will be announced Tuesday. While Woods wasn't made available for media post match on Friday, there were plenty of compliments shared in his direction about his game by 2025 Junior PGA Championship winner Lunden Esterline. 'Putter finally woke up': Charlie Woods gets hot in Round 2 of Junior PGA Championships "I had fun playing with him and Pennson (Badgett)," Esterline said. "They were both good guys." Three bogies and a double bogey on 15 ultimately hampered the 16-year-old from Jupiter, Florida. His putting didn't carry the same sharpness on the greens at Ackerman-Allen Course where he'd birdied nine times the day before. Woods faced an uphill battle entering Friday tied at -12 against Esterline who was -19. Winning the Junior PGA Championship was feasible for Woods but he needed to replicate his performance from Thursday to catch Esterline. How did Charlie Woods fare in the final round of the 49th Junior PGA Championships?
Charlie Woods wrapped up his final round and secured a top-10 finish on Friday at the 49th Junior PGA Championships. Woods, a rising junior at the Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, and son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, shot 3-over 74 at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex's Ackerman-Allen Course in West Lafayette, Indiana. He finished the tournament 9 under and tied for ninth place, 10 shots back of winner Lunden Esterline. Woods, 16, entered the round tied for second and in contention for one of two United States Junior Ryder Cup team spots available to the tournament winner and runner-up but he was unable to replicate the bounty of birdies he amassed in the second and third rounds, however. Woods spent much of the round hovering near even-par before carding a double bogey on hole No. 15. The Junior PGA Championships are comprised of two 72-hole stroke play tournaments for boys and girls junior amateur golfers. This year's boys and girls tournaments each featured 156 golfers, respectively.
