Motoring influencer fakes disappearance, flees abroad
Muar police chief ACP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said investigations showed that the suspect's younger brother was also involved by providing false information for personal reasons.
He said Tengku Abd Aziz, 30, lodged a report at the Lenga Police Station claiming that his brother, also known as Ija, went missing while heading to Muar to repair his car.
'A search and rescue operation was launched after the case was classified as a missing person. However, further investigation raised doubts about the report, and police believe the disappearance was fabricated.
'Investigations also revealed that the suspect had submerged his wife's Perodua Axia in the river before fleeing to a neighbouring country. His brother later admitted to being complicit and pretending to help with the search,' he said in a statement today.
Raiz Mukhliz said statements from both individuals have been recorded and further investigation will proceed once police obtain an order to investigate (OTI) from the deputy public prosecutor.
The case is being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for providing false information and Section 109 for abetting a criminal offence.
Earlier, media reported that the man, a businessman and vehicle accessories shop owner, had gone missing after the Perodua Axia he was driving was believed to have plunged into the river. - Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR : The Alor Setar High Court has sentenced an unemployed man to death for the murder of a three-year-old girl whose body was dumped in a forested area at Gunung Raya, Langkawi, six years ago. Justice Evawani Farisyta Mohammad meted out the sentence on Ramlan Abdul Rashid, 44, after finding him guilty of murdering Nur Aisyah Aleya Abdullah at a hospital staff quarters in Langkawi between 9 am and 10 am on Feb 23, 2019, under Section 302 of the Penal Code. In her written judgment, published on the judiciary's website on July 31, the judge said the victim died from injuries sustained after being beaten and abused by the accused over a prolonged period, an act the court regarded as a grave offence. "The accused showed no humanity when he disposed of the child's body in a forested area at Gunung Raya, Langkawi, without according it proper rites as required by religion. "The court also finds that the accused displayed neither remorse nor repentance throughout the trial," she said. She said evidence from a chemist confirmed that the skull and two teeth found in the said area belonged to the biological daughter of the complainant, who is also the victim's mother. "The victim was an innocent young child placed in the care of the accused, who, as an adult, should have protected her," she added. According to the prosecution's case, in November 2018, the victim's mother and her daughter moved into the staff quarters occupied by the accused and his wife, a nurse, and stayed there for about two months. During that period, the victim's mother left the child in the care of the accused daily while she worked at a food stall. In January 2019, the accused arranged for the complainant to stay at a hostel provided by her workplace, while the victim remained with him at the staff quarters. However, in Feb 2019, the victim's mother failed to locate her daughter during a visit to the accused's home and lodged a police report. The accused claimed he had entrusted the girl to another person but refused to disclose the individual's identity or whereabouts. Police interrogation led to the discovery of the victim's skull and two teeth in a forested area of Gunung Raya, Langkawi, in March 2019.

Missing woman found drowned after car discovered on bridge
KUALA NERANG: A woman who was reported missing near the Tekih Highway Bridge, Kampung Pinang, Pedu, since yesterday was found drowned at Jeram Tok Din, about one kilometre away. Kuala Nerang Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Chief, Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Aminuddin Mad Khozali, said the victim was found by members of the public who were camping in the area. Firefighters, with six personnel, proceeded to the scene and retrieved the victim at about 10pm. Yesterday, the woman was reported missing, and a Perodua Axia car, believed to be hers, was found on the bridge. Following the report, a search and rescue (SAR) operation was carried out by the fire department and police at the scene from 5.30pm.

Four-year-old boy dies after falling from eighth floor in Port Klang
SHAH ALAM, Aug 2 — A four-year-old boy was found dead after he is believed to have fallen from the eighth floor of a flats in Port Klang near here yesterday. Klang Selatan Police deputy chief Supt Kamalariffin Aman Shah said an emergency call was received at about 8 am. He said the incident occurred while the boy's father was at work and the mother had gone out to take their second child to the babysitter. 'Preliminary investigations indicate that the boy fell from the window of his home on the eighth floor. He was rushed to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital, Klang, but was pronounced dead during treatment,' he said in a statement. Kamalariffin said the case was being investigated under Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001. He urged those with information about the incident to contact the Klang Selatan Police headquarters at 03-33762222 to facilitate investigations. — Bernama
