Met Gala: Barry Keoghan channels Ringo Starr as he risks awkward Sabrina Carpenter reunion

Daily Mirror06-05-2025
Exes Barry Keoghan and Sabrina Carpenter arrived separately at the 2025 Met Gala after making their red carpet debut at the star-studded fundraiser last year
Exes Sabrina Carpenter and Irish actor Barry Keoghan arrived separately at the 2025 Met Gala this evening after making their red carpet debut as a couple at the annual fundraiser last year.
The Espresso hitmaker and the dad-of-one posed together at the event in May last year after being first linked months prior. Three months later it was reported Sabrina and Barry had split up, with the Saltburn actor deactivating his social media accounts and issuing a damning statement as fans speculated he had cheated on his ex.

Walking the blue carpet outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Barry seemingly paid tribute to Ringo Starr at the 2025 gala following his casting in the upcoming The Beatles biopics.

In a look that wouldn't be out of the place on the cover of the Scouse band's 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Barry looked dapper in a custom made Valentino military-inspired outfit. However, while The Beatles opted for contrasting bright colour combos, Barry opted for dark tones and floral details.
The Oscar nominated actor avoided an awkward run-in with his ex Sabrina as he arrived shortly after her. The Short N Sweet singer ditched her pants for the 2025 Met Gala, stunning in a burgundy bodysuit by Louis Vuitton with a dramatic train.
A number of high-profile names dropped out of the star-studded event earlier this evening, with newly single Jennifer Lopez breaking her run of appearing on the famous red carpet. According to the Daily Mail, the mum-of-two is busy working on her new film Office Romance with Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein in the New Jersey area instead.
Brooklyn Beckham and his wife Nicola Peltz were rumoured to be attending at the Met Gala in New York this evening, though it has now been claimed that they have pulled out of the event despite originally planning to.

Brooklyn, 26, and Nicola, 30, made a last-minute decision to pull out of the star-studded event over the weekend, choosing to stay put in the UK instead. This homebound choice is believed to be linked initially to David Beckham's landmark 50th birthday celebrations.
David was surrounded by a celebrity-laden crowd on Saturday night at his bash. Yet it is understood that both Brooklyn and Nicola were notably missing, and seemingly from other festivities commemorating David's milestone too, fuelling rumours of ripples in the family dynamic.
Despite speculation that the young couple might show up at the esteemed Met Gala in New York tonight, it seems they had no such intention, with reports suggesting that his family was "always" in the loop about not attending the high-profile fashion fête.
While Brooklyn and Nicola are familiar faces at past events thrown by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, donning their chicest outfits, sources now state that they've opted out of participating in this year's soiree, set under the theme 'Superfine: Tailoring Black Style'.
An insider revealed to the Sun: "They cancelled plans to attend the Met because they really intended to be at David's party on Saturday. But Brooklyn is really upset that blame for the rift has been levelled at Nicola. She has never told him what to do and has been nothing but supportive - she's a loyal wife."

BBC drama series praised as 'absolute perfection' by fans arrives on Netflix this weekend

One of the most raved about series of the 2020s is making its way onto Netflix this weekend and fans cannot wait. One of the most praised and gripping series that took the world by storm a few years ago is making its long awaited debut on Netflix this weekend. Normal People, the BBC drama that has been hailed by fans as a "masterpiece," will officially be available to stream from Sunday, August 3. ‌ Originally released in 2020 on BBC iPlayer, the 12-part series quickly became a cultural phenomenon, drawing both widespread critical acclaim and a passionate fanbase. Now, Netflix audiences will finally have the chance to revisit, or discover for the first time, the emotional and deeply affecting story that captivates the world. ‌ ‌ Adapted from Sally Rooney's best-selling novel, Normal People follows the intense and evolving relationship between two Irish teenagers, Connell Waldron and Marianne Sheridan, as they navigate the complexities of love, class and identity from their school days in Sligo to their university years in Dublin. The series spans more than a decade, following the main characters from their teenage years into adulthood. At the start Connell is the well-liked, quietly intelligent student while Marianne is the wealthy but socially isolated girl whose home Connell's mum cleans. When their paths cross again at university, the dynamic between them has shifted. Marianne has grown into herself, while Connell struggles to find his place, but despite these changes, the deep connection they share continues. ‌ As their relationship weaves in and out of romantic and platonic territory, the series earned widespread praise for its raw and honest portrayal of themes such as male mental health, sexuality and the emotional complexities of "friends with benefits" relationships. The show was an instant hit, and boosted the careers of Paul Mescal who plays Connell and Daisy Edgar-Jones who plays Marianne. Mescal went on to star in Gladiator II, and is playing Paul McCartney in the upcoming Beatles biopics, while Daisy has since starred in Where the Crawdads Sing and Twisters. ‌ The duo's chemistry and acting skills earned the show raving reviews with fans calling it a "masterpiece." Following the show's initial success on BBC iPlayer, Normal People received raving reviews and an impressive 91% Rotten Tomatoes score. Writing on Rotten Tomatoes, one fan of the series described Normal People as "deeply moving" expressing that the series "stayed with them long after watching." As another fan stated: "Real, raw and vulnerable. This highly emotional show had me hooked from the beginning." ‌ While other viewers added that the show is an "Irish masterpiece," and "absolute perfection." Another viewer praised the actors performance, writing: "Beautifully filmed with a great music score and pulled together by two extraordinary performances by Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones. You felt every moment with the characters and at the end you just want to go back and watch it all over again." Viewers will be able to watch Normal People on iPlayer from Sunday, August 3, on Netflix.

Victoria Beckham straddles shirtless husband David in steamy yacht moment

Victoria and David Beckham reminded the world what A-list romance looks like this week, sharing a steamy moment aboard their £16 million yacht off the coast of Saint-Tropez. Nearly 25 years after tying the knot, Posh and Becks were photographed in a passionate embrace on the top deck. Victoria was straddling her shirtless husband, the two locked in a lingering embrace as the Mediterranean sun beamed down. The pair, both in their early 50s, proved that time and family tensions haven't dimmed their spark. After a high-profile summer hosting friends like Gordon and Tana Ramsay and longtime pal Eva Longoria, the Beckhams managed to steal some alone time. David, 50, showed off his famously sculpted abs while cooling off in the yacht's outdoor shower following the intimate cuddle session. But not everything aboard the yacht has been picture-perfect. The absence of their eldest son Brooklyn, 26, has only intensified speculation about a growing rift within the Beckham family. Brooklyn was notably absent from David's star-studded 50th birthday celebrations in May and did not join the rest of the family on this luxury holiday, despite vacationing in the same region just days earlier with wife Nicola Peltz and her family. Photos showed Brooklyn leaving the south of France shortly before his parents and siblings arrived, seemingly sidestepping a possible run-in. Meanwhile, the younger Beckham kids appeared to be enjoying the break. Romeo and 14-year-old Harper joined their parents early in the trip, later welcoming Cruz, 20, and his girlfriend Jackie Apostel, 30. The family were seen zipping to shore on a smaller boat for beachside excursions, while Brooklyn remained noticeably out of frame. Rumours of a rift in the family started when Brooklyn and Nicola married in 2022, with reports of tension between her and Victoria Beckham, 51, however talk died down when the pair put on a united front at public events. More Trending However, eyebrows were raised once more when Brooklyn and Nicola failed to make an appearance at David's 50th birthday bash – nor did he, in typical Beckham fashion, send his dad a birthday message on social media. Further fuel was added to the fire when just a short time after this snub, Brooklyn wished Nicola's dad a happy birthday on Instagram. However, Brooklyn – who also posed a cryptic social media video about how he would 'always choose' Nicola – put the alleged drama aside to pay tribute to youngest sibling Harper on her 14th birthday last week. The reason behind the rumored rift is currently unclear, but it has been claimed that Victoria is 'desperate' for things to be patched up between her once-close family. Got a story? Jeremy Clarkson reveals extent of 'enormous disruption' caused at farm by TB

Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he is on a 'very steep learning curve' after an outbreak of bovine tuberculosis (bTB) case on his farm. The Clarkson's Farm star on Amazon Prime video recently revealed how the infectious disease had been detected in his cattle. bTB is one of the biggest challenges facing the cattle farming industry in the UK, and all infected animals have to be put down. He wrote on X on Thursday: 'Bad news from Diddly Squat. We've gone down with TB. Everyone here is absolutely devastated.' Just days after the outbreak, Clarkson also revealed that one of his puppies had died. Now, speaking to The Times, the 65-year-old has gone into further detail discussing how it has been 'bloody awful'. 'The disruption's enormous, because you aren't allowed to operate as a business,' he said. 'You have to isolate them for two months. So all the barns we needed to store the grain in, we now have to convert into a cow hospital. 'We've got another calf with pneumonia, so that needs to be housed. And we can't buy or sell a cow now because the farm officially, you know, has TB.' Earlier this week, Clarkson spoke to radio presenter Peter Cardwell and said: 'We're now locked down and it's just dreadful, absolutely dreadful. 'It's only been not even 24 hours since I found out, and it occupies my mind. Well, it was occupying my mind, but I got up this morning and found one of my puppies has died. And we've got a very sickly calf. 'Honestly, farming? I'm not enjoying it this week.' According to the former Grand Tour presenter, the farm now has to shut for at least two months until they can do another bTB test. But, the farm shop will not be affected. More Trending This comes after Clarkson's Farm star Lisa Hogan revealed she survived a plane crash. The Irish model and actress, 51, became a household name a few years ago when appearing on her partner Jeremy Clarkson's programme Clarkson's Farm. The couple initially met at a party through mutual friends before getting together in 2017. View More » But, in his weekend newspaper column Jeremy explained how between them, the couple had 'walked away from three plane crashes over the years'. Got a story?
