Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: Shivraj Singh Chouhan holds meeting with State Agriculture Ministers
In line with this commitment, a significant virtual meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Union Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, attended by agriculture ministers from across the country and Delhi Government's Development Minister Kapil Mishra, Office of the Minister of Development, Delhi Government said in a press release.
The primary objective of the meeting was to review preparations and ensure coordination for the upcoming 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan.'
This nationwide campaign will be conducted from May 29 to June 12, 2025, with the goal of delivering modern techniques, scientific knowledge, and welfare schemes of both the Central and state governments to farmers. The campaign is a crucial step toward realising the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encapsulated in the concepts of 'Lab to Land' and 'Viksit Bharat 2047.'
In Delhi, the campaign will cover 87 villages and include 36 programs. Delhi's Development Minister Kapil Mishra extended full support to the initiative, stating, 'Special emphasis will be placed on the implementation of Central and Delhi Government schemes in Delhi to enhance the production and productivity of Kharif crops, ensuring farmers receive fair prices for their produce. Through these programs, natural farming will also be promoted under the National Mission on Natural Farming Scheme, with a particular focus on improving soil fertility and health.'
Kapil Mishra issued several directives to Delhi Government officials, including improving farmer outreach and strengthening awareness about Kharif crop management and productivity enhancement.
This nationwide campaign will be implemented across more than 65,000 villages in 723 districts of the country, engaging directly with over 1.30 crore farmers. Scientists from ICAR, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, state agriculture departments, agricultural universities, and innovation-focused institutions will unite as a single team to work toward the goal of advanced agriculture and prosperous farmers.
Reiterating the spirit of 'One Nation, One Agriculture, One Team,' Shivraj Singh Chauhan said during the meeting, 'This program is not a mere formality; it is a grand endeavour to bring prosperity to the lives of farmers. This campaign embodies the spirit of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, and Sabka Prayas,' aiming to transform the agricultural landscape and the destiny of farmers. It will work miracles in agriculture, changing both the fortunes of farmers and the face of the sector. I urge everyone to join this revolutionary campaign and contribute to building a developed agriculture for a Viksit Bharat.'
During the meeting, agriculture ministers and officials from various states provided their suggestions on the structure of the campaign, and the Union Minister assured their inclusion. Emphasis was placed on collective efforts to make this campaign more people-centric, impactful, and inclusive. (ANI)

"Amarnath Yatra reflects unity, brotherhood of J-K": Dy CM Surinder Chaudhary
Sonamarg (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 1(ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary on Tuesday described the Amarnath Yatra as a celebration of the region's unity and brotherhood. Chaudhary reviewed the preparations for the yatra, praising the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) for their exceptional work in redeveloping the track. The Amarnath Yatra, a revered pilgrimage in Jammu and Kashmir, is set to begin on July 3, with thousands of devotees expected to participate. Speaking to media reporters, Deputy CM Chaudhary said, 'This yatra is a festival of J-K. The beauty of this yatra is that the base camp is in Jammu and the shrine of Baba Amarnath is in Kashmir. This is the brotherhood of Jammu and Kashmir, which the world knows... I had come here to chair the review meeting of the yatra that starts on 3 July. I saw the track... It gives me immense pleasure to tell you that BRO has done an exemplary job at redeveloping the track.' The 38-day yatra will commence on July 3 and conclude on August 9. The pilgrimage will follow two routes - the traditional 48-km Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the 14-km shorter but steeper Baltal route in Ganderbal district. The first batch of pilgrims will depart from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on July 2. 'The working days in Kashmir are extremely few, and now, when the Yatra begins, work will again stop... The state government and the shrine board are managing the yatra...' Apart from discussing the Yatra, Chaudhary also reiterated the Jammu and Kashmir administration's firm demand for the restoration of statehood.'Statehood leke rahenge. Chheen ke rahenge. Bilkul nahi rukenge,' he said. Meanwhile, on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Baltal base camp to review necessary arrangements for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra. Sinha met with officials from all departments to review security, logistics, and coordination for this year's Amarnath Yatra. He also said that the administration and security forces have made better arrangements this year to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage for devotees from across the country. Speaking to the reporters, Sinha said, 'Officials from all departments were present in the meeting here administration and the Shrine Board have together made better arrangements. The security forces have made very robust security arrangements. I hope that this time, people will be able to undertake the yatra even more successfully than before, and the devotees coming from all over the country will have a better experience here...' Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also spoke on the necessary arrangements facilitated for the pilgrims of the Amarnath Yatra. He further stated that the Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha chaired two meetings ahead of the pilgrimage, one with the political parties and one with the civil society to ensure proper facilities for pilgrims. India, Pakistan exchange list of prisoners, fishermen; 159 Indians await repatriation despite completing sentences
New Delhi [India], July 1 (ANI): India and Pakistan on Tuesday exchanged, through diplomatic channels simultaneously in New Delhi and Islamabad, the lists of civilian prisoners and fishermen in each other's custody. Under the provisions of the bilateral Agreement on Consular Access 2008, such lists are exchanged every year on 1st of January and July. Pakistan has been requested to ensure the 'safety, security and welfare' of all civilian prisoners and fishermen, pending their release and repatriation to India, the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement. 'India has shared the names of 382 civilian prisoners and 81 fishermen in its custody, who are Pakistani or are believed-to-be-Pakistani. Similarly, Pakistan has shared the names of 53 civilian prisoners and 193 fishermen in its custody, who are Indian or are believed-to-be-Indian,' it said. The Government of India has called for the 'early release and repatriation' of civilian prisoners and fishermen currently in Pakistani custody, especially those who have already completed their prison sentences. 'Pakistan has been asked to expedite the release and repatriation of 159 Indian fishermen and civilian prisoners, who have completed their sentence,' the MEA said. In addition, Pakistan has been asked to provide immediate consular access to the 26 civilian prisoners and fishermen in Pakistan's custody, it said. 'The Government of India has called for early release and repatriation of civilian prisoners, fishermen along with their boats, and missing Indian defence personnel from Pakistan's custody. Pakistan has been asked to expedite the release and repatriation of 159 Indian fishermen and civilian prisoners, who have completed their sentence. In addition, Pakistan has been asked to provide immediate consular access to the 26 civilian prisoners and fishermen in Pakistan's custody, who are believed-to-be-Indian and have not been provided consular access so far,' the statement read. India has also requested Pakistan to confirm the nationality of 80 believed-to-be-Pakistani prisoners and fishermen currently in India's custody, as their repatriation was pending due to a lack of nationality verification from Pakistani authorities. 'India remains committed to addressing, on priority, all humanitarian matters, including those pertaining to prisoners and fishermen in each other's country. In this context, India has urged Pakistan to expedite the nationality verification process of 80 believed-to-be-Pakistani civilian prisoners and fishermen in India's custody, whose repatriation is pending for want of nationality confirmation from Pakistan,' the statement added. The MEA's statement further highlighted that sustained diplomatic efforts have resulted in the repatriation of 2,661 Indian fishermen and 71 civilian prisoners from Pakistan since 2014, which includes 500 fishermen and 13 civilian prisoners repatriated since 2023. "They want to change the Constitution": Priyank Kharge slams RSS over call to drop 'socialism', 'secularism'
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 1 (ANI): Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday slammed Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over their General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale's statement demanding reconsideration of the terms 'socialist' and 'secular' in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution. Alleging that the RSS wants to 'alter' the Indian Constitution, Kharge said that these are the same people who 'staged a protest when the constituent assembly debates were going on and burned the constitution.' Responding to recent remarks made by Hosabale, the Karnataka Minister said, 'Very clearly, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in his last speech has defined anti-nationals as those who create animosity by bringing in caste, and those people who are going to impede the social, political and economic progress of the country are the real anti-national. Those people who sow the seeds of communal hatred in society are anti-national. So who's doing that right now?...' 'They want to change the words of the Constitution. They want to change the constitution. This is the narrative they want to bring in... RSS has never been for the constitution. These are the same bunch of people who staged a protest when the constituent assembly debates were going on. They burned the constitution and said that we want the Manusmriti as our constitution. Didn't they say that? Please ask them to read their magazine, the Organiser's archives, what they have written on the 26th of January 1950... The answer lies there itself...' he added. On being asked if Congress is thinking of banning the RSS, Kharge said, 'We will see. It's not the first time they have been banned, right? Didn't Sardar Patel ban them? Then they went and fell at his feet. They pleaded no, no, we will follow the law of the land. After that, Indira Gandhiji banned it again. They went and said No, we will cooperate. We will abide by the laws of the land. There cannot be one law of the land for the rest of the country and for one organisation like this...' Earlier on Thursday, addressing a program on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale remarked that during the Emergency, terms like 'Socialism' and 'Secularism' were forcibly inserted into the Constitution, a move that needs to be reconsidered today. He emphasised that the Emergency wasn't just a misuse of power, but an attempt to crush civil liberties. Millions were imprisoned, and freedom of the press was suppressed. He said that those who imposed the Emergency and trampled the Constitution and democracy have never apologised. If they cannot apologise personally, they should do so on behalf of their ancestors. Hosabale was speaking at an event held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, jointly organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (under the Ministry of Culture) and Ambedkar International Centre.
