Parnaik noted that the ongoing dialogue has fostered a renewed sense of harmony and goodwill among the people of both states who have shared age-old cultural and social ties.
Parnaik made the remark when he called on Assam governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at the Raj Bhavan in Guwahati. As enablers and constitutional heads of the state, the two had a cordial exchange of views on key regional issues and collaborative opportunities concerning both the states, while reaffirming their shared commitment to peace, progress and prosperity for the people of the northeast, an official statement from the Raj Bhavan said.
Drawing from his experience as a former Corps commander in Tezpur, he expressed concern regarding the challenges posed by illegal immigration and emphasised the need for continued vigilance and effective administrative measures to address the issue.
Highlighting the potential of the Act East Policy and the 'Rising Northeast' initiative, the governor described them as game-changers in the development narrative of the region.
He underlined the northeast's immense promise in manufacturing, services and entrepreneurship, and its emerging role as a hub for regional and international cooperation.
The governor also shared his concern with his Assam counterpart over the annual devastation caused by floods and landslides, particularly the loss of lives and economic hardships inflicted on vulnerable communities. He stressed the importance of long-term, sustainable solutions to mitigate these recurring natural disasters.

As a token of love and appreciation from the people of Arunachal, Parnaik presented a book titled, 'Orchids of Arunachal Pradesh', to the governor of Assam, promoting the living symbols of Arunachal Pradesh's pristine natural heritage and untouched ecosystems.

Arunachal guv attends Kargil Vijay Diwas event in Namsai
Itanagar, Jul 26 (PTI) Arunachal Pradesh Governor KT Parnaik on Saturday said Kargil Vijay Diwas is not just about remembering a military triumph, but a call to live each day with honour and commitment to the nation. Participating in the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations in Namsai, he urged everyone to prove themselves worthy of the freedom that the soldiers laid down their lives to protect. The governor laid a wreath and paid floral tribute to the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of the bravehearts of the Indian armed forces during the Kargil War, an official statement from Raj Bhavan said. The Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed on July 26 every year to mark India's victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war. Paying glowing tributes to the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the fallen heroes, Parnaik recalled the bravery of young soldiers who faced harsh conditions with extraordinary resolve. 'Their legacy is not just written in history books but etched in the soul of the nation," he said. The governor also emphasised the war's lasting contributions to national security, including enhanced border vigilance, modernisation of defence capabilities, and strengthened civil-military coordination. Praising the Assam Rifles and Arunachal University of Studies for organising the programme, he termed it a powerful reminder of our collective responsibility to uphold the ideals of unity, patriotism, and national service. The governor appealed to citizens, especially the youth to draw inspiration from Kargil and contribute to the nation with pride and purpose. He also stressed that the youth must be educated, disciplined, and motivated to be self-reliant and competent to lead the nation in Viksit Bharat@2047. 1 2 Guwahati: Assam governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Friday called the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector the backbone of the economy after agriculture, emphasising its importance in India's economic journey. Speaking at the North East MSME Conclave 2025 held at NEDFi House in Guwahati, which was organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Acharya hailed the northeast as a "priceless treasure", rich in biodiversity, natural resources, and traditional industries. "The region's unique products like bamboo, tea, silk, and handlooms have the potential to become global assets through the power of MSMEs," he said. The governor also reiterated Assam's strategic role as the "Gateway to the East" under India's Act East Policy. "This opportunity must be seized, with MSMEs playing a leading role in building bridges of trade, innovation, and cultural exchange," he said. "While large industries received attention post-independence, MSMEs were ignored for decades," he said, crediting PM Narendra Modi's leadership for revitalising the sector through key initiatives like Mudra Yojana and Udyog Sathi App. The conclave saw participation from stakeholders across the region, including former CII-NE Council Chairman SK Baruah, NABARD CGM Loken Das, PNB ED D.
