'BJP will win 10 out of 12 zones in MCD standing committee polls', says BJP MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri

(BJP) MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said on Monday that the party is confident it can secure a majority in the
Municipal Corporation of Delhi
(MCD) Standing Committee elections.
Speaking to ANI, Bidhuri said, "We will win the election of the standing committee.
The BJP will win 10 out of 12 zones."
He further said that the party's presence in the central government, the Delhi administration, and the MCD would ensure that development work continues without hindrance.
"The BJP is in the centre, state (Delhi), and MCD, and all the work will go smoothly. The triple-engine government works according to the wishes of the people of Delhi," he added.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi's (MCD) chairmen, deputy chairmen of 12 ward committees, and two standing committee members--each from the South Zone and City-SP Zone--will be elected today.
The election of the two standing committee members was necessitated after Prem Chauhan and Punardeep Singh Sawhney, who had been elected to the Delhi Legislative Assembly, tendered their resignations.
Prem Chauhan and Punardeep Singh Sawhney were the standing committee members from the Wards Committee South Zone and the Wards Committee City-SP Zone, respectively.
"In pursuance of Sub-section (5) of Section 45 of the Act, these vacancies are to be filled up by the concerned wards committees in a meeting from amongst the Councillors of the Wards Committee", a notice from MCD said.
The BJP and AAP are making every effort to ensure their candidates win. Out of the 12 ward committees, elections in three zones will be uncontested, as only one candidate is in each zone.
The results will shape the standing committee's formation and reveal which party gains majority control to appoint its Chairman.
Meanwhile, AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj said on Sunday that the election will reveal the relationship between Congress and the BJP.
"Tomorrow, there are elections for the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the MCD Rohini zone. On one side is the panel of BJP-supported IVP, and on the other is the
Aam Aadmi Party
. The Congress president should tell whom the two Congress councillors will vote for tomorrow. Tomorrow, the relationship between Congress and the BJP will be revealed," he said on X.
On May 24, with over two years still to go, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) shifted into mission mode for the 2027 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, setting its sights on forming a huge majority in the civic body, a press release from the Aam Aadmi Party said.
In a high-level strategy meeting held on Friday, senior AAP leader and former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the MCD House, Ankush Narang, met with all party councillors to start the preparations.
Former Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia reviewed ward-level issues in detail and directed councillors to ensure immediate redressing.
"Arvind Kejriwal has pioneered alternative work politics across India. Our goal now is to take this model to every household and make it even stronger," said Manish Sisodia.

'We are staking claim to host the Olympics, and we don't even have clean public toilets in the city," the bench observed, voicing deep concern over the condition of Delhi's sanitation infrastructure. The court criticised the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), and Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for their 'complete apathy, insensitivity and even dereliction of duty" in maintaining public conveniences. 'These agencies need not be reminded repeatedly that under law it is their primary responsibility to provide adequate public conveniences," it said. While the civic bodies had submitted status reports detailing their actions as per earlier court directions, the petitioner's counsel presented fresh photos and media reports showing that the situation remained largely unchanged. 'After all, the municipal bodies and development agencies are created by the legislature for the benefit of the general populace and they function on public money. It is hurting and unfortunate to note the conditions of toilets," the bench said, questioning whether officials in charge of sanitation had ever used the facilities themselves. 'If they were forced to use them, these conveniences would be 'spanking clean' in no time," the court remarked. Noting that the burden is greater on women, the bench said, 'Given such a state of public utilities available in the city, the problems being faced by women get compounded for obvious reasons." The court has now directed MCD, NDMC and DDA to escalate the issue to the 'highest level" and come up with expert-driven, comprehensive plans for maintaining public toilets. J&K SIA raids two places in connection with non-local killing case
Srinagar: State Investigation Agency (SIA) of J&K Police on Thursday carried out searches at the premises of two suspects in Anantnag district in connection with the non-local killing case. A statement by SIA said that these searches were carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into the brutal killing of Raja Sah on April 17, 2024, in Bijbehara. The searches aimed to uncover critical evidence to unravel the conspiracy behind this heinous crime and identify accomplices involved in the case registered under FIR No. 87/2024 under Section 302 IPC, 7/27 Arms Act, and 13, 16, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of Police Station Bijbehara. The meticulously planned searches were executed with precision, adhering to legal procedures, and have yielded significant evidence that is expected to strengthen the investigation. 'These efforts will aid SIA Kashmir to bring the perpetrators of this terrorist act to justice and dismantle the terror module involved in such terrorist activities,' an official said. The search operations are a crucial step toward identifying and apprehending the co-conspirators and supporters of the accused, ensuring a comprehensive probe into the murder and related unlawful activities, he said. 'The SIA J&K remain steadfast in their mission to protect the lives of citizens and counter any attempts to disrupt peace in J&K,' he said. SIA has successfully investigated and challaned some high-profile crimes investigated by the agency. Terrorists in 2002 killed advocate Babar Qadri in his home in the Hawal area of Srinagar city. Qadri was killed at his residence in Srinagar's Hawal area. While one of the terrorists waited outside the main gate to keep an eye on the happenings around, the remaining two, who were also carrying a dummy case file, were made to sit on the chairs placed in the verandah. Before his death, Qadri had accused the then-president of the High Court Bar Association, Mian Qayoom, of planning to kill him. SIA arrested Mian Qayoom and later charged him with Babar Qadri's murder in the court of law.

Attacking the Uttar Pradesh government over its decision to merge primary and upper primary schools having less than 50 students, Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday alleged that it was being done to devoid the poor of education. 'Whenever elections in Bihar come close, they start speaking against reservation, the Constitution and secularism. He proposed naming the newly inaugurated party office in Azamgarh as 'PDA Bhawan', declaring that only Pichhda, Dalit, Alpsankhyak (PDA) unity will open the path to social justice and political power. He appealed to the PDA voters to keep an eye on the voters list so that they could exercise their franchise in SP chief claimed that the PDA strategy and INDIA bloc's strength will also work in the 2027 UP assembly polls. Yadav further alleged that the BJP government was identifying such schools wherein booths it had lost and was now planning to close such schools. 'Thousands of such schools are being closed, while liquor shops are being opened indiscriminately,' the SP chief alleged. Referring to the early days of the BJP, Akhilesh reminded the audience of its foundational debates. 'At their first convention, the BJP deliberated on what ideological path to adopt. Some wanted to stick with their original ideology but many knew that India would never accept that path.' Therefore, he said, the BJP chose socialism and secularism but they have forgotten that resolution today. Yadav also extended his party's full support to the Rashtriya Janata Dal in the upcoming assembly assembly polls in Bihar.
