Teacher from Kalahandi held for OTET paper leak; total arrests 7
The arrested teacher was identified as Prasant Kumar Khamari (56).
Khamari, from Kalahandi district, had a significant role in translating the leaked question papers from English to Odia. He obtained the questions from Jitan Moharana, a previously arrested employee of the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), which set the question papers for in-service teachers.
"After writing the translated questions and answers in Odia on plain paper, Khamari reached out to potential buyers among in-service teachers.
Financial investigation revealed that he transferred about Rs 99,000 via UPI to Bijay Kumar Mishra, a teacher arrested on Wednesday," DIG (crime branch), B Gangadhar, said.
Investigations revealed that Mishra had approached Moharana and instigated him to steal the question papers. Moharana allegedly stole the questions from BSE vice-president Nihar Ranjan Mohanty's laptop, crime branch officers said.
The test, scheduled for July 20, was postponed after questions and potential answers began circulating on social media the previous day.

The investigating agency discovered that the accused collected around Rs 20,000 from each recipient of the leaked questions. Over 200 in-service teachers, who had previously failed OTET, purchased the leaked questions.
The crime branch is investigating the alleged negligence of the BSE vice-president. "We have so far not found any criminal liability against him but we are trying to find out how Moharana managed to access the vice-president's laptop," Gangadhar said.
School and mass education minister Nityananda Gond said that legal action would be taken against those found guilty. "Our govt has a zero tolerance policy against crime and corruption. The crime branch is thoroughly investigating the case. Regardless of the positions held by the accused, severe legal action will be enforced," the minister said.

Accused's digital skills baffle Bengaluru police in 13-year-old boy's kidnap-murder case: Report
When police arrested the suspects behind the shocking kidnap and murder of a 13 year old Bengaluru boy and began investigations, they were left puzzled by one pressing question: How did a simple driver manage to skillfully wield technology like virtual private networks (VPN) and voice over internet protocol (VoIP) to mask his tracks during the ransom call? Gurumurthy evaded capture using VPN and VoIP, prompting police to rely on tech help to track him down. (iStockphoto) Cops believe Gurumurthy may have picked up these digital tricks from his brother, a police constable with experience in the Bengaluru City Police social media division, who is now posted at an embassy in the Middle East, The Times of India reported. At first, police thought Gurumurthy was an experienced criminal; he hid behind a foreign phone number while calling the parents of the deceased school boy Nischith, demanding ₹5 lakh for the boy's release. Curiously, he typed in English, yet the recipient read the messages in Hindi. Despite their efforts, police found traditional tracking methods useless, as Gurumurthy used VPN and VoIP tech to cover his digital trail, the report said. Law enforcement responded with their own tech arsenal, getting help from the state's intelligence branch and the Central Crime Branch. After a prolonged chase, DCP Narayana obtained a clue about an alternate mobile number Gurumurthy was using, leading to his eventual capture. Senior officers expressed surprise at Gurumurthy's digital prowess. He outmanoeuvred cops at every step. He was careful, using all possible tactics during ransom negotiations. Once he recovers from his gunshot wound, we'll interrogate him further, an official said, as quoted by the publication.

Also Read | Swelling crowd, continued sale of tickets led to stampede The Minister, in a written reply, shared the findings of the high-level committee constituted to examine the circumstances leading to the stampede this year on February 15. He said there was a gradual increase on passengers, many of whom were also carrying big headloads. Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman asked the Railway Minister about the status of the report of the committee constituted to investigate the stampede and the corrective steps taken by the government. Also Read | Eyewitnesses recall tragedy, say many collided and fell on stairs and escalators Mr. Vaishnaw said the high-level inquiry committee has submitted its report for consideration. "As per findings of the report, an unfortunate incident on 15.02.25 happened on foot overbridge-3 stairs connecting platform 14/15 at New Delhi railway station. On the day of the incident, sufficient crowd management protocols were in place to handle the overall volume of passengers at the station," he said. "There was a gradual increase of passengers density on the FOB after 8.15 pm. Many of the passengers were carrying big headloads affecting smooth movement on the FOB. 'There was a big headload falling from one of the passengers and the pressure was passed on to the stairs of PF 14/15 stairs, resulting in the tripping of passengers on the stairs. This led to an incident at 8.48 pm on FOB-3, which was limited to the stairs of FOB. Consequently, passengers fell on each other." The Minister informed the House that in the incident, 18 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured. According to Mr. Vaishnaw, an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh each to the grievously injured and Rs 1 lakh each to other injured has been paid. The Railway Minister said the government has taken several actions to handle the heavy rush of passengers at stations, including the creation of permanent holding areas and access control measures — allowing passengers with confirmed tickets — at 73 identified stations, widening foot overbridges, installing CCTV cameras, developing war rooms at big stations, among others.

Anil Ambani set to rise again, his debt free company now making good profits, earns Rs 600000000, company is....
Anil Ambani (File) Anil Ambani, once India's industrial titan, is currently going through a difficult time. The Enforcement Directorate has summoned Reliance Group Chairman Anil Ambani for questioning on August 5 in a money laundering case linked to an alleged bank loan fraud worth crores of rupees against his group companies, official sources were quoted as saying by news agency PTI on Friday. The federal probe agency has also notified a Look Out Circular (LOC) against the 66-year-old businessman to stop him from travelling abroad, the sources said, PTI reported. He has been asked to depose at the ED headquarters in Delhi on August 5 as the case has been registered here. Moreover, the ED is also looking at allegations of 'illegal' loan diversion of around Rs 3,000 crore, given by Yes Bank to the group companies of Ambani between 2017-2019. After the news broke, Reliance Power and Reliance Infrastructure shares reportedly fell significantly. Overall, the market was in a selling mode. Amidst a series of difficult reports, there is some good news for Anil Ambani. His companies are planning a comeback. According to the ZeeNews report, Anil Ambani's company Reliance Infrastructure (Reliance Infra Shares) has turned from losses to profits. In the first quarter of FY26, it reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 59.84 crore, compared to a loss of Rs 233.74 crore for the same quarter of the previous financial year. Changing their strategies, Anil Ambani's companies are recovering. Earlier on Monday, shares of Reliance Infrastructure jumped over 4 per cent, reaching Rs 358 on the BSE. This jump came after the company reported a significant turnaround in performance, recording a record profit for the first quarter of FY26. The company declared it is now completely debt-free and has no dues to banks or financial institutions. Anil Ambani has altered his business paradigm, now focusing more on debt reduction. He paid off all the debts of Reliance Infrastructure and left the company completely debt-free. As the company began to get out of the debt trap, investor confidence began to return. It began receiving new orders, not just in India, but from abroad as well. This is the primary reason the company is transitioning from loss to profit, and the shares of Reliance Infra started showing signs of revival.
