The New York Knicks made a run to the Eastern Conference Finals last season. They were not far away from being NBA champions, but came up short against the Indiana Pacers.
Following the loss in six games in that series, the Knicks made the decision to fire head coach Tom Thibodeau. To replace him, New York recently made the decision to hire Mike Brown. He's a good pickup and a coach that will bring a different philosophy to the franchise.
So far this offseason, the Knicks have made a couple of new additions. They have signed scoring guard Jordan Clarkson and forward Guerschon Yabusele.

Lillard has hit the open free agency market after being waived by the Milwaukee Bucks following their move to sign Myles Turner. He is still recovering from the torn Achilles that he suffered in the first round of the playoffs against the Pacers, but there is optimism that he could return around the All-Star break.
Taking a flier on Lillard could make a ton of sense for the Knicks.
New York insider Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News has urged the team to consider the option. He thinks it could be a match made in heaven.
"The Knicks could sign Lillard, who will continue to collect checks from the Milwaukee Bucks after they waived him from the roster and stretched the balance of his contract over five years, and help a Top-75 player return from a ruptured Achilles," Winfield wrote.
"Worst-case scenario: Lillard recovers, misses the entire season, then becomes an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2026. Best-case? Lillard returns to action after the mid-February All-Star break, and the Knicks pull off the heist of a century, picking up one of the best scoring guards in league history on an injury discount."

During the 2024-25 NBA season before a blood clot issue ended his regular season early, Lillard played in 58 games. He averaged 24.9 points per game to go along with 7.1 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 steals. Lillard also shot 44.8 percent from the floor and 37.6 percent from three-point distance.
There would not be much risk in offering him a one or two-year deal. He could be the missing piece that powers New York to being a championship caliber team.
Expect to hear more about Lillard in the near future. The Knicks might be a potential destination for him.

Mets ace Kodai Senga could rejoin rotation next weekend in Kansas City

NEW YORK (AP) — Mets ace Kodai Senga could rejoin the rotation next weekend in the final series before the All-Star break, a little over a month after straining his right hamstring. Senga allowed four runs — three earned — and six hits in 3 2/3 innings during Saturday's minor league injury rehabilitation start for Double-A Binghamton at Hartford. Senga struck out four, walked two and threw 44 of 68 pitches for strikes. 'Physically he feels fine,' manager Carlos Mendoza said Sunday before the Mets concluded their three-game series against the Yankees. 'So we'll see how today, tomorrow, how they go and hopefully he's making a start for us next time.' Senga was injured covering first base on a grounder by CJ Abrams when he made a leaping catch on Pete Alonso's throw June 12 against Washington. Senga is 7-3 with a 1.47 ERA in 13 starts this season for the Mets, whose starters had a major league-best 2.78 ERA at the time of his injury. The Mets lost 14 of 17 after Senga's injury, then won four straight with a patchwork rotation that included two openers and Justin Hagenman's first big league start. 'He's a big part of this team,' Mendoza said of Senga. 'He's a big part of the rotation. For us to be able to get him back this quickly (is big) because we thought when he went down, in my head I was more like after the All-Star break and then for him to be in play for us now before we go into the All-Star break is huge for us.' Mendoza also said Sean Manaea may start Sunday in Kansas City. Manaea is slated to make his fifth rehab start and sixth overall appearance Tuesday. Manaea has been sidelined since spring training with a strained right oblique and had a rehab outing pushed back because of elbow discomfort to a bone chip. The left-hander received a cortisone shot and threw 60 pitches in three innings Wednesday for Binghamton at Hartford. The Mets have 13 pitchers on the injured list and entered Sunday with the fourth-best rotation ERA at 3.38. ___ AP MLB:

Where Clemson landed in ESPN's updated College Football Future Power Rankings through 2026

Clemson football is firmly back among college football's top contenders, climbing to No. 7 in ESPN's College Football Future Power Rankings through 2026 — up from No. 12 last year. Much of that optimism centers on quarterback Cade Klubnik, who's set for his third and final season as the Tigers' starter. After accounting for 43 touchdowns and more than 4,000 total yards in 2024, he's expected to finish as one of the program's most productive quarterbacks before heading to the NFL. A dominant defensive line is another reason for Clemson's rise. The Tigers return All-America candidates T.J. Parker and Peter Woods, both projected as early picks for the 2026 NFL Draft. They also added Purdue transfer Will Heldt, who produced five sacks and 10 tackles for loss last fall, and veteran tackle DeMonte Capehart is back to strengthen the interior. Up front on offense, Clemson brings back four starters on the line, including Ryan Linthicum, Tristan Leigh and Walker Parks — all honorable mention All-ACC selections. The Tigers also made subtle but important moves in the transfer portal, landing Heldt and wide receiver Tristan Smith from Missouri State, adding depth to a unit that already features standout Antonio Williams, a first-team All-ACC pick last season. A new defensive coordinator, Tom Allen — fresh off helping Penn State reach the CFP semifinal — steps in to boost a unit that needed a spark. With key stars returning and Swinney's willingness to adapt, Clemson appears ready to make a serious national title push in the next two years. WNBA All-Star Game: Kayla Thornton, Gabby Williams, Kiki Iriafen, Sonia Citron among reserves

NEW YORK (AP) — Kayla Thornton, Gabby Williams, Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Citron will be making their All-Star debuts in Indianapolis later this month as they were all chosen on Sunday as reserves for the game. Thornton has been in the league for nine years and finally is getting her chance to play in the exhibition game. She was selected in the expansion draft by Golden State last year from New York and has helped the expansion team get off to a good start. 'It would be such a reward for her,' said New York's Sandy Brondello, who will be one of the All-Star coaches. 'She's been a role player all her career, but to go into a new organization and do so well, I voted for her as an alternate to get there because she deserves it.' Williams has been in the league for six seasons, although she's missed time to play with France's national team. She's having a strong season for Seattle this year. Washington rookies Iriafen and Citron join Dallas' Paige Bueckers as first-year players on the All-Star team. Bueckers was chosen as a starter. It's the first time that three rookies will be playing in the game since 2011. Other reserves chosen include Seattle's Skylar Diggins, Phoenix's Alyssa Thomas, Atlanta's Rhyne Howard, Indiana's Kelsey Mitchell, Los Angeles' Kelsey Plum, Minnesota' Courtney Williams, Las Vegas' Jackie Young and Chicago's Angel Reese. 'It means a lot to go with these other two,' said Diggins, who will be making her seventh All-Star appearance, of playing with teammates Nneka Ogwumike and Williams. The reserves were selected by the WNBA's 13 head coaches, who each voted for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position regardless of conference. The coaches were not able to vote for their own players. Captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier will draft their teams for the All-Star Game on July 19. First they'll chose from the eight other starters: Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, Bueckers, Ogwumike, Allisha Gray, Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally and Aliyah Boston. The All-Star teams will be revealed on Tuesday. Some notable players left off the team were Washington's Brittney Sykes, Atlanta's Brionna Jones, New York's Natasha Cloud and Los Angeles' Dearica Hamby. ___
